Special Containment Procedures: [Paragraphs explaining the procedures]
SCP-XXXX and its artifacts are currently kept in a Standard Secure Humanoid Containment cell in Site 77. Containment procedures indicate modifications that include:
- A lack of any significant orifice or opening in the containment cell larger than 1mm in size. Containment cell should be inspected weekly to ensure compliance.
- A single, closed entry point comprised of 7cm thick titanium doors that form a vacuum seal with the rest of the containment cell. These doors must be painted matte black on the inside, for reasons to be discussed.
- Removal of any potentially reflective substance within the bounds of the containment cell. Anything that cannot be removed must be painted with matte black to remove any reflective potential.
- 24/7 surveillance by no less than 4 Foundation security members at any given moment.
Access to SCP-XXXX is limited to individuals with no lower clearance than Level 4 security clearance. Any object classed as an artifact of SCP-XXXX is considered to be a highly dangerous cognitohazard. Individuals that come into any visual contact with SCP-XXXX must immediately be administered with Class B or Class C amnestics. Any individuals that report contact with SCP-XXXX, its artifacts, or SCP-XXXX-A should be immediately neutralized, along with any reflective surface they may have come into contact with since potential exposure to SCP-XXXX.(footnote here for destruction of reflective surfaces) Any individuals that have come into contact with a potentially exposed individual must undergo reconstructive ocular surgery in order to neutralize potential creation of SCP-XXXX artifacts. Non-compliance with directives will result with the termination of offending individuals.
No further research attempts into SCP-XXXX should be attempted following Research Log XXXX-r-420.

SCP-XXXX refers to the source of anomalous activity regarding the events leading to, and occurring during, Incident XXXX-i-A. SCP-XXXX appears as an ordinary,rectangular wall mirror of proportions 1.5m x 3m in size set in a simple, beveled oak frame. SCP-XXXX was found half packaged in an apartment flat located at ████ ██████ ██, ███ ████ ████ ██. The existence of SCP-XXXX was reported to the foundation after [REDACTED]: prompting nearby individuals to report the [REDACTED] to police within whom a member of MTF Iota-10 (“Damn Feds”) promptly contacted Foundation personnel. MTF Eta-10 (“See No Evil”) was deployed for immediate containment soon after initial contact with police response resulting in [REDACTED] after several days. Post discovery observations of SCP-XXXX found no initial indicators of anomalous activity (See Research Log XXXX-r-1). It is unknown if SCP-XXXX is itself the progenitor of its anomalous effects, or if it is simply another artifact of the true SCP-XXXX.
While video footage of SCP-XXXX appears to have potential to generate an artifact of SCP-XXXX (albeit at a slower rate), it appears that photographs or drawings of SCP-XXXX do not.
There are 4 levels of progression in individuals exposed to SCP-XXXX or any of its artifacts. Individuals will worsen in progression over the course of approximately 1 week, at which point they are no longer classified as human. The levels are described as follows:
Level One: Individuals who have had the surface of SCP-XXXX or any of its artifacts fall within their line of sight are immediately attracted to it. This attraction causes them to focus on the reflective surface for several moments, before they are reportedly filled with a “deep, aching sense of sorrow and anxiety” and “a throbbing emptiness” in their chest. The compulsion then vanishes, and individuals are allowed to function freely, only with the aforementioned effects lingering. Psychological evaluations of exposed Level One individuals report slightly more negative results than previous evaluations. Administering Class B or Class C amnestics at this stage of exposure can reverse the effects, but only if applied before the individual reaches Level Two. Additionally, if individuals continue to stare into SCP-XXXX or any of its artifacts, they may prompt early manifestation of an SCP-XXXX-A entity and progress to Level 3. Testing utilizing SCP-765 reveals that while symptoms are alleviated, they reappear within twenty-four hours.
This stage of exposure is also the least common, as given the opportunity SCP-XXXX or any of its artifacts will prompt individuals to observe the entity or its artifacts for as much as they are able to, with more observation leading to rapid progression through exposure levels. As such, Level One has been limited to individuals with induced exposure by research methods.
Level Two: Individuals at this stage are found to be significantly more philosophical and contemplative, while simultaneously more self-isolating. They will often ask profound and existential queries, and lose themselves in thought frequently. Psychological evaluation typically reports worsening negative trends. If SCP-XXXX or any of its artifacts are available, affected individuals will spend copious amounts of time staring into it almost longingly, or obsessively: reporting a similar compulsion to initial exposure, only stronger. If SCP-XXXX or an SCP-XXXX artifact is not available, they will find any common reflective surface instead, and will switch to whatever happens to be the most available. Some individuals will even begin to carry small reflective items on their person if they know there will be no such reflective surfaces nearby, or in case they cannot find one nearby during a compulsion. If an affected individual cannot locate any reflective surface in their immediate vicinity during a compulsion, they will attempt to use their own bodily fluids, such as saliva, mucus, urine, genital discharge, blood, or in extreme limitations, even aqueous humor. Affected individuals will exhibit extreme aggression towards anything that would disrupt their contemplation, or limit it in any way. In such cases, individuals may exhibit above average abilities such as anomalous strength, visual perception, auditory perception, and speed. However such occurrences are not so much above average that they cannot be contained through non-anomalous means. Individuals at early levels of this stage can still be recovered with Class C amnestics, however it is the advice of Foundation staff that any individual that reaches Level Two be immediately terminated, as it is unknown when affected individuals may transition from this stage to Level Three.
Level Three: Upon reaching exposure Level Three, individuals will prompt the full manifestation of an SCP-XXXX-A entity (See Research Log XXXX-r-5). This SCP-XXXX-A entity will manifest around the affected individual, appearing within reflective surfaces around them. Individuals at this level now no longer require reflective surfaces during compulsions; instead they will spend extended amounts of time in isolation, entering a state analogous to a vegitative state. Individuals are reportedly more aggressive, sometimes exhibiting mild aphasia. Psychological evaluations report emotional anaesthesia, rapid bipolar mood swings, and disregard for personal wellbeing as well as the wellbeing of others. Upon review of footage, individuals begin to show slight alterations to their physical form; however such alterations are small enough to go unnoticed in everyday contact. This includes slight elongation of teeth, thinning of skin, elongation and hardening of fingernails, and deformation of classical bone structure. At this level of exposure, any reflective surface that comes within [REDACTED] meters of the affected individual is susceptible to becoming an artifact of SCP-XXXX, exhibiting all the anomalous properties of SCP-XXXX along with the potential for exposure of unaffected individuals. Individuals who reach Level Three are to be immediately terminated, with Class C amnestics no longer effective in reverting anomalous effects of SCP-XXXX. At this stage, individuals can no longer be classed as human.
Level Four: The final stage of exposure, Level Four, is the most hazardous. It is unknown what exactly causes the progression from Level Three to Level Four, with video footage from research trials yielding little insight. Individuals at this stage suffer from a mental event equivalent to “a psychotic break, only one thousand times over.” Upon reaching Level Four of exposure, individuals will gouge their eyes out, often breaking their orbital sockets in the process, and seek to constantly cause themselves physical pain as well as inflict it on others. Their nails and teeth are noticeably longer, sharper, and harder. They appear to exhibit unusually high pain tolerance, as well as significantly more anomalous strength, speed, and hearing. While Level Four humanoids are capable of comprehensible speech and limited communication, overall they lose higher cognitive functions and revert to primal reactions. Overall however, Level Four entities appear to be nothing more than mere a shell of the previous person; Observation of Level Four entities show no significant activities beyond base and primal desires and responses. Over time, Level Four entities will continue to inflict physical pain on themselves and others until eventually their bodies suffer enough damage that they are classed as deceased. Post-mortem investigation of Level Four entity corpses yields little results, often due to the damage suffered by the entity before termination: entities will perform any action needed to reach a target or objective, such as snapping their own spinal cord, shattering bones, and degloving of extremities. Despite damage that would appear to limit the physical function of Level Four entities, they appear to function normally in spite of this damage (excluding removal; extremities do not appear to function after removal). Corpses of Level Four entities are also reported to have high concentrations of Mercury in their bloodstream. Level Four entities should be terminated with extreme prejudice, with standard Foundation security equipment effective enough to serve this purpose.
Level Five: Level Five is an artificial stage of exposure reached after two events. The first event is that
While minor intrinsic anomalous traits can be considered overall not harmful and attributed to SCP-XXXX and its artifacts, it would appear that the more significant shifts experienced in later levels of exposure are driven by an SCP-XXXX-A entity. SCP-XXXX-A entities are reported by exposed individuals to be exact reflections of that individual, with minor differences. While most physical and vocal traits of SCP-XXXX-A entities are reported to be identical to that of the exposed individual, it is noted that the corresponding entity possesses solely smooth flesh in their orbital cavities, and that their skin is a slightly bluer color. Despite the apparent lack of ocular potential, these entities are apparently still capable of some sort of sight. SCP-XXXX-A entities are deemed as highly dangerous cognitohazards that are visible only to exposed individuals. Individuals report their first manifestation as solely auditory: soft whispering that is only discernible to the exposed individuals. SCP-XXXX-A entities seemingly manifest based on personal guilt, fear, terrors, and especially trauma. As individuals worsen in condition, so does their perception of their SCP-XXXX-A entity to the point where individuals regard them as a physical presence. As observation of SCP-XXXX-A entities requires exposure to SCP-XXXX or one of its artifacts, not much data can be collected.
