Impossible Craving

SCP-5009 is an unmarked toothbrush measuring *convert to metric* 8.3 x 1 x 0.5 inches. There is no branding, numbers or marks located anywhere on the toothbrush that would indicate where the brush was manufactured. Those in the field of dentistry or toothbrushes have not been able to identify the brush as coming from any manufacturer. The bristles of the brush are a deep navy blue, and are noted as being stiffer than that of most other toothbrush bristles. Eight of the bristles are missing, though this does not appear to stop or lessen the effect caused by SCP-5009. Enveloped within the center of the handle of the toothbrush is a light red plastic, the rest of the plastic making up the brush handle is white.

When the toothbrush is used, no matter if wet or not, or if any type of toothpaste has been applied, it will imbue the user with what has been described as “A craving for something that I have never had”. After multiple tests it has been determined that the effects of the brush only trigger once the bristles of the brush have come into contact with all teeth in the mouth, even if teeth are missing. Brushing one side of the mouth has resulted in the subject not reporting any unusual feelings of cravings. After using SCP-5009, the user will report a very strong and unmistakable craving and desire for a food or perhaps beverage that does not appear to exist. They will attempt to eat many foods and drink a vast array of beverages but have not once been reported to fulfill or satiate the craving. Those who have craved beverages have attempted to use SCP-294, entering “The drink that I am craving” or “that which I desire the most”, but the drink dispensed is reported as not fulfilling the subject. This can sometimes result in the subject ceasing to eat or drink ever again, dying from starvation or dehydration as feelings of frustration are expressed in eating or drinking anything other than that which they desire. Other times subjects have reacted by eating or drinking all that they can until dying of overeating or over drinking. Subjects have attempted to eat everything from strange combinations of foods (such as a smoothie made up of every sauce found in a nearby kitchen) to rotting food found in trash cans. Some subjects have also attempted to eat or drink non digestible things such as plastic or gasoline. Only two subjects who have used SCP-5009 have survived well after using the brush, and only after going through extensive therapy and treatment. They still report feelings of craving that which they cannot find, but report that they have “come to terms with it”.

It has been speculated that the craving subjects are imbued with is for something which does not actually exist. Attempts to describe the craving by comparing it to other items or describing the flavor have always been unsuccessful. It has been described as being as real or tactile as any other craving, but that the subject simply doesn’t know where to find it or how to obtain the item of their craving causing the subject to guess as to what they are craving. Utilizing world renowned chefs to prepare items have also been met with disappointment.

I chose SCP-5009 at random, so it doesn't matter what denomination it has to be. I also was unaware of SCP 063 when writing this, so if I have to change it to something other than a toothbrush that is also fine. I've only gone through about 150 scps or so, so if there are any other similarities that I should change or rewrite that is fine too. This is my first ever attempt for writing an SCP so I really am not sure all of what to do, I just had this idea and thought it'd be fun to try to submit it. I have a few other ideas and additions I'd like to add later on, so this is really just a simple version of my first draft also. I just ran out of time to work on it today.
