| Containment Class: Euclid
| Disruption Class: Dark
| Risk Class: Critical
| Secondary Class: Alterius
Special Containment Procedures: Object is to be sealed within a titanium alloy heavy duty storage container. The container is made from a cold resistant alloy with dimensions not less than 40m x 40m. Object’s chamber is to be monitored after nightfall should it attempt to move.
Under no circumstances should Scp-5049 be exposed to temperatures more than 200 degrees Celsius when not undergoing testing, and no heat-based compounds should be allowed within 20 meters of the object’s containment chamber. Object’s chamber is to be fitted with temperature sensors which must be monitored between 0:00 and 18:00 and is to be kept chilled and sealed by no fewer than 2 cooling units. Cooling units are needed to be switched out with heating units between 18:00 and 12:00 to keep it at bay. If kept at temperatures below -52 degrees Scp-5049 will start to solidify into a compound similar to sandstone.
Scp-5049 is to be fed only shale, obsidian, granite, and rhyolite to keep it from liquefying. Containment area is to be kept at -56 degrees Celsius during testing, and personnel interacting with SCP-5049 must wear heat protection gear. Following testing, all equipment, personnel, and other matter must undergo dehydration procedures and must be quarantined for no more than 7 hours.
Description: SCP-5049 is approximately [DATA EXPUNGED] cubic cm of a substance which superficially resembles honey except with a heliotrope purple type shade. It latches onto the head of its victim and controls them telepathically while slowly eating away at their skull. Scp-5049 isn’t known to talk much unless given a victim to talk out of. Scp-5049 takes the form of a gelatinous like phase at temperatures between 350 degrees Celsius, and 490 degrees Celsius, and starts convulsing at temperatures over 700 degrees Celsius. At 1472 degrees Celsius, Scp-5049 starts to vaporize into a gaseous state similar to Sodium Hexafluoride.
After coming in contact with Scp-5049, subject will be classified as Scp-5049-1. Scp-5049-1 won’t be able to move or talk unless Scp-5049 wants them to. Scp-5049 is known to slowly eat away at Scp-5049-1’s skull until it reaches the brain of the subject, then it stops and demands another victim. Leaving the victims brain unharmed.
Discovery On April 29, 1986 (Two days after the Chernobyl incident) Ukrainian firefighters found Scp-5049 on the head of one of the firefighters in the [DATA EXPUNGED] forest northeast of the disaster site. One of the Chernobyl staff found a charred body with a hole in their head that lead to the brain. One of our Ukrainian scientists was told of the discovery and informed the staff that SCP-5049 is “nothing to worry about” and brought it to our Ukrainian division for testing.
