Item #: SCP-5436
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5436 is to be contained within a standard humanoid containment cell at Site-18. SCP-5436’s cell is to be furnished with a bed and table, additional furnishing may be provided at SCP-5436’s request dependent on recent behavior. SCP-5436’s cell is to be cleaned on a bi-weekly schedule as his anomalous properties will contaminate any surrounding areas after an extended period. Any Foundation staff entering SCP-5436’s containment cell must be of level 4 clearance or higher and are required to wear a full hazmat suit to prevent possible infection.
Description: SCP-5436 is a humanoid entity, standing approximately 1 meter tall, resembling an average middle-aged man. SCP-5436 has no visible anomalous properties until provoked to a point of violent reaction. Once aggravated enough SCP-5436 will begin to resemble an instance of SCP-049-2 in appearance and strength while maintaining full awareness of environment and actions. When in the anomalous state any living entity attacked by SCP-5436 will become an instance of SCP-5436-2. Instances of SCP-5436-2 are near identical to instances of SCP-049-2. The ability to create instances of SCP-5436-2 are under further investigation by foundation researchers.
Addendum 5436.1: Discovery
SCP-5436 was discovered in a small town just outside of ██████ ██████ after apparent reports of what appeared to be SCP-049-2. Upon receiving these reports, the Mobile Task Force along with a team of investigators was sent to contain the anomalies. While attempting to contain the SCP-049-2 instances multiple Mobile Task Force officers witnessed SCP-5436 attacking civilians subsequently creating instances of SCP-5436-2. SCP-5436 was immediately detained and brought into foundation custody.
The following is an interview conducted by Dr. Carson Miles during initial investigation.
Interviewer: Dr. Carson Miles, Site-87
Interviewee: SCP-5436
[Begin Log]
Dr. Miles: Hello SCP-5436, my name is Dr. Miles.
SCP-5436: (Noticeably anxious) Where am I. What do you mean SCP-5436? My name is ███████.
Dr. Miles: You are in the custody of the SCP Foundation at Site-18. All further details regarding location are classified. As for your name you are to be called SCP-5436 from now on.
SCP-5436: What do you want from me?
Dr. Miles: You were observed creating instances of SCP-5436-2 like that of another SCP, SCP-049.
SCP-5436: What does that mean?
Dr. Miles: It is what we have classified those zombie like creatures you have been observed creating. They are extremely similar in appearance and behavior to those created by SCP-049.
SCP-5436: (leans forward with sudden interest) I’ve only met one other person, if you can even call him that, who was able to make those things. This 049, does he wear a mask like a plague doctor would?
Dr. Miles: (visibly surprised) Yes, he does, how did you know that?
SCP-5436: (SCP-5436 appears very agitated) He’s the one who did this to me, turned me into this monster. (SCP-5436 drops his head and lowers his voice appearing very sad) He… He turned my whole village into those things, said we had “the pestilence” and that he was “the cure” whatever that meant. (SCP-5436 looks down at his hands most likely remembering what happened)
Dr. Miles: (shocked) You mean to tell me SCP-049’s “cure” actually worked.
SCP-5436: Cure!! You call this a cure I’m a monster, I turn everyone I touch into those things. This is no cure Dr. Miles this is a curse.
(SCP-5436 became extremely agitated and refused to answer any further questions)
[End Log]
Interviewer’s Note: Despite SCP-5436’s calm demeanors and docile behavior he appears to be easily aggravated. It is unknown how much aggravation will lead to SCP-5436 attacking an individual and creating an instance of SCP-5436-2. Discussion with SCP-5436 should be kept to a minimum until further investigation has taken place.
Addendum 5436.2: Observational Log
After further investigation with SCP-049, it appears SCP-5436 is the doctors “one success” in his supposed “cure”. Upon mentioning SCP-5436 to SCP-049 the doctor shot up in excitement and immediately demanded to see his “proudest achievement”. The request was promptly denied due to SCP-5436’s hatred and potential aggression towards SCP-049.
The following is an interview conducted by Dr. Miles with SCP-049.
Interviewer: Dr. Carson Miles, Site-87
Interviewee: SCP-049
[Begin Log]
Dr. Miles: Hello SCP-049 my name is Dr. Miles.
SCP-049: Hello Dr. Miles how may I be of service to you?Dr. Miles: I’d like to ask you about SCP-5436, one of your former “patients”.
SCP-049: I’m afraid you will have to provide more detail than that I have had many patients.
Dr. Miles: He says his name is ███████, he is one of your survivors.
SCP-049: (suddenly filled with excitement SCP-049 shoots out of his seat) My proudest achievement! The one truly cured patient. Take me to him at once I must study him to see how I succeeded!
Dr. Miles: I’m afraid we can't do that, he has expressed quite a bit of hatred towards you and an encounter between the two of you would be unpredictable and potentially dangerous.
(SCP-049 becomes enraged with Dr. Miles and attempts to attack him before armed guards arrived to neutralize him)
[End Log]
Interviewers Note: It appears SCP-5436 is the only known survivor of SCP-049’s “cure” known by both the foundation and SCP-049. How he survived is currently under investigation. It has been decided to ask SCP-5436 when he first met SCP-049.
The following is a follow up interview conducted by Dr. Miles with SCP-5436.
Follow Up Interview
[Begin Log]
Dr. Miles: Hello SCP-5436.
SCP-5436: Hello Dr. Miles, and please stop calling me that my name is ███████.
Dr. Miles: I apologize for the frustration but as I said before, you are to be addressed as SCP-5436.
SCP-5436: Fine, but please consider calling me by my name.
Dr. Miles: I’ll see what I can do. Now, I’ve come to ask you about SCP-049 as it appears he remembers you.
(SCP-5436 becomes visibly agitated)
SCP-5436: What do you want to know?
Dr. Miles: When was it that you first encountered SCP-049?
SCP-5436: (SCP-5436 pauses for a few seconds) 1347 the start of the Black Death.
Dr. Miles: That’s impossible that would imply you are…
(SCP-5436 interrupts Dr. Miles abruptly)
SCP-5436: Almost 700 years old, and still counting every painful second. That freak turned me into this “Frankenstein’s Monster” and then said I was “cured”. He turned everyone around me into those things you saw when you found me. He destroyed my life and left me in this limbo, in agony, in a living hell.
(SCP-5436 grows silent and refuses to respond to any further questioning by Dr. Miles)
[End Log]
Interviewer’s Note: SCP-5436 has stated that he is nearing 700 years of age. It appears that in SCP-049’s attempt to “cure” him he made him immortal and near invincible. Foundation researchers have begun to question SCP-5436 about any SCPs he may have seen throughout the years that have not been contained. No new discoveries came out of this questioning. More research will be done examining the extent of SCP-5436’s knowledge and recollection of past events.
Addendum 5436.3: Observational Log
While in containment at Site-18, SCP-5436 has spent most of his time resting while insisting nobody is to come within 1 meter of him without adequate protection. During testing SCP-5436 has been confirmed to only be able to transform others into instances of SCP-5436-2 during states of intense aggression and when visibly resembling SCP-049-2. During testing SCP-5436 has been confirmed to only be able to transform others into instances of SCP-5436-2 during states of intense aggression and when visibly resembling SCP-049-2.
Observational Log 5436.OL.1: SUMMARY
Subject: SCP-5436
Preface: A test subject (D-4352) convicted of violent crimes was introduced into SCP-5436’s testing chamber after being instructed to provoke and attack him.
Observation Notes: SCP-5436 reacted at first passively trying to stop the provocation through warnings and concern for the safety of D-4352. After 5 minutes the D-4352 lunged at SCP-5436 telling him to “fight back”. SCP-5436 attempted to evade the attack for as long as possible before eventually being pinned to the ground and repeatedly struck by D-4352. After it was apparent there was no other way out of the situation SCP-5436 grew extremely violent throwing D-4352 at the wall on the other side of the room. After standing up SCP-5436 ran at the test subject with inhuman speed and proceeded to kill the test subject through repeated blunt force trauma to the frontal lobe. Immediately following the death of D-4352 SCP-5436 was taken back to his containment cell so his testing chamber could be cleaned. Upon return to the test chamber D-4352 had reanimated in an instance of SCP-5436-2 attempting to attack foundation staff before armed guards arrived to neutralize the SCP-5436-2.
Follow up Interview:
[Begin Log]
Dr. Miles: Hello SCP-5436. Before we begin the foundation has decided that due to your outstanding cooperation in our tests and research you are allowed access to the facility anywhere under level one clearance. The only conditions are that you maintain proper self control and are accompanied by at least one armed guard.SCP-5436: I’ll do my best, thank you Dr. Miles.
Dr. Miles: Now then, I am here to discuss your most recent testing experience with D-4352.
SCP-5436: (SCP-5436 speaks silently) What about it, he did what I’m assuming you told him to, and I did what you inevitably expected me to.
Dr. Miles: Yes, that is true, but it appears you are only capable of creating SCP-5436-2 instances when in an extremely aggressive state detectable by your sudden change in appearance when aggravated.
SCP-5436: (visibly and audibly upset) So, does this mean I change people like that thing does?.
Dr. Miles: Yes, in a sense. We will require further testing to know for sure. That will be all for this interview, before I leave do you have any further requests regarding your containment chamber.
SCP-5436: No, I am happy with what I have been provided thank you Dr. Miles.
[End Log]
Interviewer’s Note: SCP-5436 seems to have great regret over attacking D-4352 growing silent after his mention. When told of his anomalous properties SCP-5436 grew upset showing clear disappointment in his similarities to SCP-049.
