Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Keter
Head Researcher: Dr. "Clare" ███
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept under constant telescopic surveillance at all times.
In the event that an SCP-XXXX-1 is confirmed to be vectored towards earth, 300,000 mi² of region that shows early warning signs of SCP-XXXX-1 arrival must be evacuated under the guise of heavy seismic activity. When SCP-XXXX-1 is confirmed to be 130,000 miles from earth, the surveillance satellite, Raphael 4, is to be stationed 76 miles from the effected region to observe and report the results of the event. An electronic jammer is to be activated 24 hours before arrival to cease any forms of surveillance videography and communication in the region.
Class-D over the age of 70 are to be airlifted and randomly dispersed around the region 5 hours before arrival. The number of Class-D sent must match the number of confirmed instances in SCP-XXXX-1. Each Class-D is to be fitted with a tracking collar that has an effective range of 4 Billion Miles. Mobile Task Force Lambda-4 ("Birdwatchers") are to accompany the D-Class with their main objective being the capture and containment of an SCP-XXXX-1 instance. All Lambda-4 members sent must be at least 50 years of age or younger.
Should an SCP-XXXX-1 exceed more than 20 instances, Mobile Task Force Zulu-1 ("Hornets Nest") is to be called in to control the airspace above the event region to prevent any SCP-XXXX-1 instances from leaving the area and entering public view. Zulu-1's patterns over the region are to be under the guise of fighter training exercises by the region's respected air force. All Zulu-1 fighter pilots sent must be at least 50 years of age or younger.
When the event is in progress, foundation communication with Class-D and Lambda-4 is to be halted to prevent the spread of the memetic agent emitted by SCP-XXXX-1. Communication with Zulu-1 is permitted with ATC in order to prevent a collision, but this is to be exercised with caution.
24 hours after the confirmation that all SCP-XXXX-2 have left the atmosphere, the jammer is to be deactivated and the region is to be open to the public. The foundation is to monitor the statuses of SCP-XXXX-2 as they head toward SCP-XXXX. When the tracking collars read that SCP-XXXX-1 has successfully reached SCP-XXXX, it is to be presumed that all SCP-XXXX-2 are lost or KIA.
Any surviving Class-D are to be interviewed, applied with Class A amnesties, and moved onto the next assignment.
If the surveillance team reports a Rapture Event vectored towards earth, a rocket containing a nuclear payload is to be launched at the cluster and promptly detonated with the hopes of stopping or delaying the event.
The disappearance of the Roanoke Colony is to be kept under the guise of abandonment and nothing more.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a Saturn-sized Planet positioned 3.8245 billion miles from Earth in the outer regions of the Kuiper Belt. Analysis shows that the planet's atmosphere is covered with an ivory colored gas containing a yellow hue. Due to the thickness of the gas and SCP-XXXX's atmosphere, it prevents any visual observation and spectroscopy of SCP-XXXX's surface and composition.
Since its discovery, foundation astronomers were baffled on how it came to be. As of right now, there are two highly accepted theories:
1- SCP-XXXX was a rouge planet that became entrapped in the Sun's orbit.
2- SCP-XXXX was created by another SCP, most likely SCP-████.
At rare and random intervals, SCP-XXXX will disburse and receive waves of entities known as SCP-XXXX-1 in random directions. The number of instances in each wave varies, with the least amount being 7, and the largest amount being 204. The entities seem to be attracted to planets containing life, as SCP-XXXX-1 instances only travel to earth and other potential life-filled planets outside the solar system. Calculated speeds of SCP-XXXX-1 during inter-space travel are predicted to be around 20,000 Miles per Hour.
SCP-XXXX-1's area of arrival on earth and number of instances in a wave seems to have no consistency with past events and are seemingly at random, with the last known SCP-XXXX-1 arrival being at ██████ in 19██, with a total of 22 instances arriving. However, there are a few early warning signs of an SCP-XXXX-1 arrival at a location. The signs of an SCP-XXXX-1 arrival are as follows:
-An extremely low humming that is audible without a known source.
-Individuals over the age of 70 in the area lack any sort of situational awareness.
-Suicide of individuals under the age of 70 are reported in the area.
-Animals abruptly leave the area in a migratory fashion, even animals that don't normally migrate.
Interviews from individuals who have witnessed SCP-XXXX-1 instances report that they take the form of large, humanoid entities that glide through the air by an unknown means of locomotion. All reports say that the entities are covered with dark grey feathers, but lack any wings needed for flight. The size of the entities differ from each Class-D interview, but almost all of them say that the instances are twice that of a human being. Large, bony digits are noted to have replace the entities' fingers, believed to have been more adapted for grabbing objects rather than attacking targets. Reports also say that they lack any facial features other than a small circular mouth and 2 large ivory colored eyes that produce a faint yellow glow, similar to SCP-XXXX's atmosphere. It is currently unknown if instances have the need to feed or if they have male/female genders.
It is currently believed that SCP-XXXX-1 instances produce a sort of memetic agent. Effected individuals report a loud humming or buzzing sound emanating from the mouths of each instance that entrances and compels them to move towards the entity. It was also discovered that the humming has no effect on individuals under the age of 60, but has a small effect on individuals over the age of 60, and has total control over individuals over the age of 70. SCP-XXXX-1 instances seem to be more attracted to individuals most effected by its memetic effect, but will not hesitate to capture any nearby persons if no effected individuals are present.
Each instance also seems to be impervious to any sort of damage, and harming it only increases the memetic's effect and range.
Once an individual has come into contact with an SCP-XXXX-1 instance, they are quickly snatched up by the entity and are now referred to as SCP-XXXX-2. Once 75% of the instances in SCP-XXXX-1 has an SCP-XXXX-2, they quickly leave Earth's atmosphere and move towards SCP-XXXX. It is believed that SCP-XXXX-2 are somehow kept alive by SCP-XXXX-1's memetic agent, even in the vacuum of space. Life readings on D-class tracking collars do indicate that they're alive, but their heart rates are slowed down massively as if to preserve energy.
The fate of SCP-XXXX-2 as they enter SCP-XXXX is currently unknown. Tracking collars seemingly cease activity upon contact with the planet's atmosphere. However, this is just the tracker ceasing, and it's still entirely possible for the SCP-XXXX-2 taken there to still be alive.
Addendum 1/XXXX-7: As of this moment, the only creatures taken from earth by SCP-XXXX-1 are humans, and on one occasion, an escaped chimpanzee from the █████ laboratory. The reason for this is unknown, but it's theorized that SCP-XXXX-1 instances are attracted to creatures that show a level of sentience. If this theory is correct, it may prove that the instances themselves are sentient.
Because of the fact that SCP-XXXX-1 seem to be attracted to sentient creatures, it's believed that other SCP-XXXX-1 that emerge from SCP-XXXX and move away from earth, head towards other alien civilizations.
However, on even rarer occasions, SCP-XXXX will disperse a large cluster of gas known as a "Rapture Event". The contents of the gas are unknown but it's believed that the cluster holds a monstrous wave of SCP-XXXX-1 instances. The observation of one distant Water-World that had multiple SCP-XXXX-1 visits was promptly subjected to a Rapture Event. Once the Rapture Event made contact with the Planet's atmosphere, the whole planet became engulfed and was covered with the gas similar to it's home world with no recorded SCP-XXXX-1 visits since then. Because of the results of SCP-XXXX-1 events on earth and the results of probing missions sent to SCP-XXXX, it can be assumed that, should a Rapture Event be aimed towards earth, it could cause an XK-Class End-of-the-World Scenario.
Addendum 2/XXXX-7: The colony of Roanoke is believed to have been the largest extraction of SCP-XXXX-2 ever recorded in human history, with a total of 115 SCP-XXXX-2 being taken from the settlement.
Below is an exclusive interview by Dr. Clare with a man who is believed to be a Descendent of a Manteo Tribal Member that was present during the SCP-XXXX-1 event at Roanoke.
To prevent the leakage of foundation secrecy and potential worldwide panic, Dr. Clare was under the guise of an Author writing a booklet.
Interviewed: [Adriel- Male/Age 17]
Interviewer: [Dr. Clare- Female/Age ██]
<Begin Log>
Dr. Clare: [Could you please tell me about your lineage?]
Adriel: [Heh, It's pretty hard to trace given the amount of tribes that existed in North America. However, my family strongly believes that we're descendants of the legendary Manteo. That tribe that greeted the settlers of Roanoke, before the sky spirits arrived.]
Dr. Clare: [Sky Spirits…Could you elaborate?]
Adriel: [Well, before my Great Grandma passed, she told us about her Great Grandpa's story of the Spirits who took the Roanoke settlers and carried them to the stars.]
Dr. Clare: [Do you have any idea on why these "Sky Spirits" took the settlers?]
Adriel: [That's the one part of the story that no one in my family seems to know! Some say that it was because they invaded the peaceful natives without proper a proper invitation, others say that It was because they stole a sacred artifact from a neighboring tribe. The only one who truly knows is in the ground, one with the earth.]
Dr. Clare: [Could you please describe the story as it had been passed down from generation to generation?]
Adriel: [Well, It starts when a boy named Adoeete walks to Roanoke in order to gift the colonists with a basket full of meat and berries. However, as Adoeete nears the village, he starts to feel a low rumbling. A voice in his head then calls out, "Come to us, we have something to show you!". The boy subconsciously follows the voice to the top of a hill when he sees…]
Dr. Clare: […What does he see?]
Adriel: [He saw them, the Sky Spirits, encircling the village with their terrible shouts and screeches. The colonists were all huddled in the middle of the village, confused and panicked. All the adults and children were crying and screaming, but the elder men and women were…rejoicing.]
Dr. Clare: [The eldest were rejoicing? Explain please.]
Adriel: [They were smiling, and shouted with joy! Some of them walked away from the group with open arms, ready to be picked up by the swooping spirits. Others forcefully grabbed some of the unwilling victims and gave them to the spirits. And one by one, they all ascended into the night sky.]
Dr. Clare: [What happened to the boy?]
Adriel: [He was still on the hill when the voice returned and said, "Join them! Join your friends! Join us! We will guide you to everlasting peace and tranquility!". One of the Sky Spirits flew away from the swarm and slowly glided up to him, arms outstretched.]
Dr. Clare: [Did it take the boy?]
Adriel: [Nope. It stopped, arms still outstretched. Its as if it was waiting for the boy to choose either staying here on earth, waiting to inevitably die, or join his friends in the stars for everlasting life…]
Dr. Clare: […And?]
Adriel: [The boy refused. He remembered the dangers of messing with spirits, good or bad.]
Dr. Clare: [What did the "Spirit" do?]
Adriel: [It just nodded its head to him, and rejoined it's brethren up in the sky…]
[Short Period of silence]
Dr. Clare: [Thank you for your time, Adriel. I'm sure this interview will be an interesting add to our book, "Roanoke Life History".]

[SCP-XXXX-1 feathers] -Taken by Researcher, Jennifer █████
---
Addendum 3/XXXX-7: SCP-XXXX was discovered by a civilian telescope stationed at Mauna Kea on the island of Hawaii. Astronomers believed it was just a Rogue Planet passing through the Solar System, that was until an orbital pattern was quickly detected.
Not long after its discovery, an SCP-XXXX-1 attack was reported in a village in Australia. At first, the Foundation thought it was an attack made by SCP-████, but unlike SCP-████ who would've ██████ and ███ the village, the entities flew directly into space. The foundation followed their every move and eventually tracked them to SCP-XXXX via telescopic surveillance.
Addendum 4/XXXX-7: The foundation's attempts at containing an SCP-XXXX-1 instance are currently ongoing. Containment teams regularly show up at scheduled SCP-XXXX-1 arrival locations and use the Class-D as bait. However, it was soon discovered that the actual containing of an SCP-XXXX-1 instance is extremely difficult. Each instance is extremely fast in flight and are seemingly impervious to damage. One situation in Mexico attempted for the use of tranquilizer darts, however, this resulted in [DATA EXPUNGED], causing half of the containment team, regardless of age, to be snatched up by the instances.

[A Mig-25 from MTF Zulu-1] -Taken by lieutenant, Voycheck █████
---
Addendum 5/XXXX-7: On June 3, 19██, a wave of 36 instances arrived in █████, Russia. One of the instances managed to fly away from the arrival region and slowly made its way toward the small village of ███, famous for its friendly atmosphere and large retirement home.
In an attempt to drive the instance away from the village, a Soviet Air Forces Mig-25 Foxbat, piloted by lieutenant Yuri ████, was scrambled to intercept it. Due to the Foxbat's insane speed, Yuri managed to reach the instance when it was only ██ Miles away from the village.
Below is a transcript of the engagement that follows. It has been translated by the onsite A.I.
<Begin Log>
Yuri: Tower this is Bear-01, I am over the designated region, over.
ATC: Copy that Bear-01, patrol the region and radio back should you encounter the U.F.O., over.
At 0550 hours, Yuri sights the SCP-XXXX-1 instance 9 miles away, at an altitude of ██,948 feet.
Yuri: Tower what the hell is that thing? It looks like a…man!
ATC: [unintelligible chatter] I have been told by my superiors that your mission is to destroy the target and nothing more, over.
Yuri: It's so damn scary looking! It looks like the angles my mama used to tell me about in stories as a chid, but it feels so…odd. What is it?
ATC: Lieutenant, your objective is to destroy the target, and nothing more, over!
Yuri: Well alright, I guess if I don't know what it is… *Deep sigh* …It'll be better for me knowing that's not a person I'm about to kill…or at least I think it's not a person, over.
At a range of 6 miles, Yuri manages to lock onto the instance.
Yuri: I've got the bogie in my bore sight, over.
ATC: Copy that, Bear-01. You may shoot when ready.
Yuri: Copy… *sigh* …sorry about this, big fella.
At a range of 5 miles, Yuri fires a radar guided R-40 at the instance. However, the missile prematurely detonates 12 feet away from the instance, knocking it down to an altitude of ██,329 feet. The instance soon recovers without any visible damage.
Yuri: Bandit is undamaged! I repeat, bandit is undamaged, over!
The instance turns and screams at Yuri before swiftly flying towards him. Atmospheric speed of entity was believed to have been around ███ mph, calculated by the distance between the Foxbat and the entity, and the time it took for them to merge.
Yuri: Holy shit! Incoming!
The instance and Yuri merge extremely close to each other. The entity manages to scratch the Foxbat's canopy with it's bony digits, but gets hit by the jet wash and falls out of the sky.
ATC: Bear-01, what the hell happened? Are you alright? Over.
Yuri: [Low buzzing]
ATC: Bear-01, are you there? What's your status! Over!
Yuri: [Low buzzing]
ATC: Yuri! What is you-
Yuri: *Coughing* Jesus Christ! I-I'm alright. *Coughs* The bastard did make a huge gash in my canopy, though. *Coughing* Over.
ATC: Roger. Bear-01, do you see the bandit?
Yuri: [Silence] I don't see the bandit in the sky…wait…
After scanning the ground for a visual, Yuri spots a small impact crater on the side of a hill, with a large arm hanging out of it.
Yuri: Bandit is down! I repeat, bandit is…What the hell!
The instance slowly climbs out of the hole and stares at Yuri, before emitting a cry and hastily flying back towards it's original arrival location.
Yuri: Bandit is retreating, heading west. Do I have permission to pursue, over.
ATC: [unintelligible chatter] Negative Bear-01, Your canopy is damaged. Descend to an altitude of 10,000 feet and RTB, over.
Yuri: Copy that, returning to base, over.
<End Log>
As soon as Yuri landed, foundation agents under the guise of Air Force officers were dispatched to meet up with him and ask questions about his engagement. Yuri said he was apprehensive throughout the whole engagement, which was to be expected.
However, when he was questioned about the merge and the radio silence after, he said that when they merged, the entity made a "Buzzing-Roar" sound. After hearing the sound, he said it caused him to get a "dazed and silly" feeling, similar to the drug [REDACTED] that he took in his teenage years.
The agents were confused, as Yuri was flying below 20,000 feet, so the possibility of hypoxia was soon ruled out. It was assumed that due to Yuri's close proximity to the entity, he was exposed to SCP-XXXX-1's memetic agent, but was somehow not fully entranced by it.
Yuri and the ATC team was applied with Class A amnesties shorty after Yuri was briefed, as the Soviet Air Forces had no affiliation with the Foundation at the time.
Due to the success of Yuri's dogfight, it was theorized that SCP-XXXX-1 instances are afraid of other aerial entities, and presumably, aircraft that fly up to challenge them. The tactic of sending fighters after stray SCP-XXXX-1 instances was quickly employed for arrivals that had too many instances for ground-based MTF units to control. However, it was later discovered that this doesn't effectively drive SCP-XXXX-1 away from earth, it just forces them to return to its area of arrival.
Note: Yuri was 62 years old when he intercepted the instance. At the time of the engagement, the foundation did not fully know the capabilities of SCP-XXXX-1's memetic effect and assumed the safe age gap was completely below 70 years. Yuri's engagement was also the only known incident someone has been able to cause harm to an instance, albeit indirectly.

Addendum 6/XXXX-7: During an SCP-XXXX-1 arrival at ███ in 19██, crossbows were used in the attempt of capturing an instance. The containment team was unsuccessful, but a small cluster of feathers was found stuck to one of the recovered crossbow bolts. DNA analysis of the feathers revealed the following:
-20.7% Raven
-79.3% Unidentified avian creature
The feathers of the SCP-XXXX-1 instance were also notably more ridged and hard than that of a normal bird's. Research into the Unidentified avian DNA is still undergoing.
Addendum 7/XXXX-7:** A total of 5 4 unmanned probing missions have been sent to SCP-XXXX.
Missions 1-4 aimed at achieving an orbit of SCP-XXXX in order to get a close up study of the planet's anatomy.
The probes used were heavily modified versions of the Voyager series of satellite, designated Raphael 1-4.
Below is the list of satellite missions sent to SCP-XXXX.
Raphael 1
MISSION: Obtain high orbit of SCP-XXXX in order to gain photography of SCP-XXXX.
STATUS: Currently in high orbit of SCP-XXXX.
RESULTS: Images of SCP-XXXX were successfully obtained and sent back to earth.
Raphael 2
MISSION: Obtain low orbit in order to gain information of SCP-XXXX's surface composition Close up photography of SCP-XXXX's surface.
STATUS: Currently drifting away from the Solar System. Fuel supply depleted due to avoiding SCP-XXXX-1 leaving/entering the planet.
RESULTS: Atmosphere was too dense for direct observation and spectroscopy from Raphael 2's orbit. Mission was changed to close up photography of the planet. Close up images of SCP-XXXX were successfully obtained and sent back to earth before fuel reserves were depleted.
Raphael 3
MISSION: Close up study of a returning SCP-XXXX-1, in order to see the contents being held by the entities.
STATUS: Probe destroyed
RESULTS: Probe flew within 1 mile of an SCP-XXXX-1 when [DATA EXPUNGED]
Raphael 4
MISSION: Crash into SCP-XXXX while scanning atmosphere's composition Act as a surveillance platform for SCP-XXXX-1 events on earth.
STATUS: Currently in low earth orbit
RESULTS: When Raphael 4 was about to perform a slingshot towards SCP-XXXX, Dr. Clare abruptly stopped the maneuver. She explained that her abrupt action was due to the results of Raphael 3. It was unanimously agreed for Raphael 4 to be stationed in low orbit in order to survey SCP-XXXX-1 events on earth.

Raphael 5 was the 5th and final unmanned probing mission sent to SCP-XXXX. It's mission was to land directly onto SCP-XXXX's surface in order to study the composition of the atmosphere and planet.
There was heavy debate in the foundation as to wether sending Raphael 5 was a smart decision, mainly due to the results of Raphael 3. However, many researchers agreed that Raphael 5 would be fine as long as it were to avoid SCP-XXXX-1 instances. It was unanimously agreed for Raphael 5 to be the last unmanned probing mission sent to SCP-XXXX
The probe used was a heavily modified version of the Venera surface probe, willingly loaned by the former Soviet Union as their contribution to the project.
Below is a timestamp of Raphael 5's mission.
Addendum: 7/XXXX-7: "The existence of SCP-XXXX has sparked awe and terror in the hearts of many site personal. Some say that it may cause the end of the world, others say that it may guide us to an alien civilization. Regardless of what your opinion is, we must remain alert and vigilant, as we have yet to find out what the trigger of these "Attacks" are. And may God forbid a Rapture Event be sent towards us, if God is even on our side…" -Dr. Clare.
