Mr. Chimps's Sandbox
W.I.P. SCPs:
Quick Description: Anomalous area in Massachusetts linked to living alternate reality used as large-scale laboratory. Created in collaboration by various GOIs to R&D various aberrant technologies & SCPs. Town gets sucked in to labratory-verse due to accident, creating a warp in space-time, causing people, animals, objects to disappear and even stranger things to appear in their place.
Bellevue Triangle
Item #: SCP-4XXX
Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: 65 meters beyond the observable perimeter of SCP-4XXX is a 3 meter high electrified wall structurally reinforced with steel and concrete. This wall is to be equipped with security cameras capable of recording the infrared, ultraviolet, and visual spectrum, as well as patrolled by security personnel armed with non-lethal weapons. SRAs are to be placed at equidistant points within the barrier in order to prevent further growth of the observable perimeter.
Conspiracy theories about the truth behind SCP-4XXX are to be actively suppressed via standard disinformation protocols; publicly, the area is the result of an act of domestic terrorism, in which a dirty bomb was detonated at a local government bio-lab, with contaminants seeping to the local environment. The media is to consistently release reports of radioactive, chemical, and biological hazards in the area. The optical distortion effect of the observable perimeter and any potential anomalous wildlife are to be explained as results of this disaster, if reported on by media.
Foundation activity is to be organized locally at Site-47, located just outside the barrier of SCP-4XXX. All Foundation personnel are to maintain cover as government staff, private security, hazardous waste management, etc. as it may apply. All attempts at civilian entrance to the area is to be prevented with non-lethal force only. A division of MTFs Beta-7, Gamma-5, and Theta-4 are to remain on-site at all times. In the event anomalous lifeforms exit the observable perimeter, MTF Beta-7 is to attempt to sedate and capture any biological specimens; should this prove to be impossible or too unsafe, lethal force is authorized. All biological specimens are to shipped to Site-66 for containment and research.
Description: SCP-4XXX is the collective designation for an anomalous area, roughly triangular in shape and approximately 55 km2 in area, as well as the dimension and lifeforms found within. The affected area encompasses the town of Bellevue, Massachusetts, and is referred to locally as the “Bellevue Triangle”. Observers have reported an optical distortion effect similar to that of a “heat shimmer” or “oil slick” along the observable perimeter of SCP-4XXX. Objects and structures viewed beyond this border appear normal, with no signs of degradation, movement, or alteration since the creation of the anomaly. No humans or animals have been witnessed from outside the border, and plant growth remains unaltered despite the passage of time.
Within the border of SCP-4XXX can be found an alternative dimension containing what remains of the town and its inhabitants, designated SCP-4XXX-1. All flora and fauna inside the area have experienced some form of mutation or genetic manipulation, although unaltered humans have been encountered (see Expedition Logs). Objects and structures show signs of advanced decay, with this effect diminishing the further one travels from the center. Instances of other non-related SCPs have also been witnessed within SCP-4XXX-1, such as SCP-217 and SCP-610. How they became present is unknown, although it is theorized that the biolab within the alternate dimension contained samples of these and other SCPs known to the Foundation, or that they originate in other alternative realities connected to SCP-4XXX-1.
Once inside SCP-4XXX-1 no evidence of a barrier can be seen, and attempting to return through one's previous entry point has no effect, essentially trapping anything that enters. Radio signals can still be sent and received from either side of the border, with this effect diminishing the further one goes in the alternate dimension. This dimension includes the former town of Bellevue and the surrounding landscape, even beyond the border existing in baseline reality. Expeditions have shown that other towns and cities also exist here, with expedition personnel reaching as far as Boston before contact was lost.
Numerous communities exist within this area, most of them the descendants of civilians unable to escape before the event, as well as members of GOI-098, the group responsible for the creation of SCP-4XXX. These groups venerate and worship Saints, trans-human deities capable of reality bending. Currently 3 Saints are known to the Foundation, and it is unknown if their reality bending capabilities extend beyond SCP-4XXX-1.
History: The following is a general summary of the events leading to the creation of SCP-4XXX, pieced together from expedition logs, recovered documents, testimonials, and archaeological research.
In prehistoric times, the area that would become the town of Bellevue, Massachusetts was home to a thriving city of SCP-1000. Following the Day of Flowers, the city came under control of a group that would later call themselves the Children of the Sun. A subset of this group broke away from the main body, and began to study and record the organic technology they discovered, preserving thousands of artifacts and related knowledge from destruction. This group dedicated to the preservation of this knowledge would settle the area and grow for generations.
Thousands of years later, followers of Mekhane would find this settlement, and an exchange of knowledge began. Both groups began to integrate beliefs and would become one people. The settlement once again grew into a technology advanced marvel, fueled by organic technology and the arts of the followers of Mekhane. Sometime later during the War of Flesh, the city was attacked by the forces of Sarkic cults.
They produced automata, part organic, part mechanical, capable of resisting the Red Plague. This greatly distressed the followers of Nälkä, who sent a great army across the ocean to wipe them out. Both sides created enormous titans, one of living steel and crystal, the other of shifting flesh and claw. Instead of annihilating each other, however, the two merged into one being; the God-Titan Typhon.
All bowed before this being, and became one people; they would eventually come to call themselves the Genesis Society, among other names. This group combined the knowledge of Mekhane and Nälkä with the forgotten arts of the Children of the Night, breeding a new science, a new religion. Today the Genesis Society is considered a heretical enemy of most other GOIs, due to their methods of acquiring intelligence, materials, and artifacts through espionage and theft.
Eventually, the God-Titan Typhon entered a period of extended dormancy and appeared to decay. With great effort, the ancient Genesis Society transported its body underground. Above it they sealed a cache of knowledge and organic technology within a massive pyramid. Through unknown means this pyramid was buried, and the people scattered in hiding, fearing further persecution as the War of Flesh escalated. A Scion of Typhon was dispatched across the sea to bring an end to the conflict, although the result of this is unknown.
In time, the buried pyramid would be forgotten, its builders scattered; eventually Native American tribes would resettle the area. Then came the colonization of Britain and the rest of Europe, and the forgotten structure became known as Bellevue Hill. In 1633, the town of Bellevue was founded.
In early 1980's, Prometheus Labs, Inc. opened a research facility primarily specializing in biotech, but also contained projects regarding cybernetics, robotics, pharmaceuticals, advanced material engineering, and the latest in weapon and defense technologies. In the mid 1990's this facility was infiltrated by numerous Genesis Society operatives; by the early 2000's, it was almost entirely under their control.
The exact details are still unknown, but at some point during this period Genesis Society agents began a process within the laboratory to merge our reality with SCP-4XXX-1. This event has been publicly acknowledged as the domestic terrorism event which resulted in ecological catastrophe and the evacuation of Bellevue, but in actuality resulted in the creation of SCP-4XXX. Following this event, the Foundation stepped in and began Special Containment Procedures.
Expedition Logs:
First Recon Mission
Date: 8/19/2001, ~5 hours post-incident
Members: 1 Foundation R.O.V.
Transcription of Audio/Visual Record begins:
—Video feed activates. Foundation personnel can be seen performing diagnostics on R.O.V. prior to expedition. Camera pans around, showing armed personnel and researchers moving in background. Researcher in foreground gives hand signal, and video feed is cut.
—Video feed resumes and audio is activated. R.O.V. faces observable perimeter of SCP-4XXX; the air appears distorted, rippling and shining with strange hues of blue, green, gold, and purple. Beyond can be seen a brightly lit suburban town, with lush green vegetation, pristine houses, and undamaged vehicles stopped haphazardly in the streets. The voice of Researcher Clarke can be heard.
Researcher Clarke: Alright, are we ready then? Excellent. Commencing first reconnaissance attempt into the anomaly, designated SCP-4XXX. Time to see if there's anything left on the other side…proceed.
R.O.V. Begins rolling forward slowly, camera jostling and bumping slightly as the treads navigate uneven terrain. It picks up speed and soon passes through the observable barrier. The screen fills with static and distortions, audio consists of high-pitched electronic screeches and whines.
—Distortions and noises stop abruptly, revealing a darkened landscape; small bits of material seem to be floating down from the sky, some of it faintly luminous in the pitch dark. The R.O.V. gathers samples of the matter as it activates its lights. Results are displayed on-screen, showing a mixture of ash, an unknown variety of spores, and unidentifiable biological material.
Lights reveal a suburban environment. Vegetation is wildly overgrown, and visible leaves are a deep maroon in color. R.O.V. moves forward along a road, covered in a thick layer of the luminescent spores and ash. Homes and vehicles appear to have been abandoned for years despite recent evacuation. The camera pans up towards the sky, revealing a starless, moonless night.
In the distance is a pillar of light. The R.O.V. Focus and zooms in on the pillar, revealing a massive concentration of the luminous biomatter rain, spiraling up into the air from what appears to be the remains of a large burning building. Small forms are seen scurrying in the forms of the nearby tree branches.
—R.O.V. focuses on the movement, revealing small mamillian creatures resembling large squirrels, although clearly not a member of the common variety. The machine rolls closer to the base of a tree holding several specimens, 3 of which begin hissing and growling, brandishing sharp fangs and claws. The animals have bluish-gray fur, and large paws exhibiting polydactyly. All of the creatures suddenly fall silent and freeze in fear as loud bellowing and roaring can be heard in the distance.
The R.O.V. turns and begins heading toward the disturbance, seeming to come from a neighboring street. None of the streetlights are lit, and every house passed is dark. No lights from passing vehicles are seen in the distance. They only light sources visible are from the R.O.V. and the faintly glowing biomatter.
The sounds of conflict grow louder, deep growls and high-pitched yips coming into sharp focus as something large impacts an abandoned minivan with enough force to move it several feet. The R.O.V. halts motion, focusing its lights on a canine figure lurching to its feet from the side of the vehicle. What appears to be an abnormally large coyote afflicted with SCP-217 then lunges at a larger quadruped creature still partially in shadow.
The larger creature swats at the SCP-217 coyote, tearing away fur and flesh to reveal a complex network of pulleys, cables, and gears beneath. The coyote circles around its' flank as the larger beast is brought into the foreground. It resembles something like a bear made of raw muscle and bone, a bulbous, malformed head splitting open vertically to let out a screeching bellow. Its massive paws are riddled with jagged claws arranged in two layers, one above the other; it swings again at the coyote and misses.
The canine lunges again at the creature, leaping up an onto its thick back, tearing into its flesh with wide slavering jaws. Masses of red, rubbery muscle are dislodged onto the street. R.O.V. begins to gather biological samples while lifeforms remain distracted; analysis reveals organisms are infected with SCP-217 and SCP-610 respectively.
—The SCP-610 bear bucks and dislodges the SCP-217 coyote, throwing it to the ground. It proceeds to maul and bite into the creature as it lays stunned, crushing gears and cables in its massive jaws. Eventually, the coyote lies still, and the bear begins to devour the mechanical lifeform. The R.O.V. observes for a few moments before slowly reversing direction.
The SCP-610 bear suddenly jerks its eyeless head up and looks in the direction of the R.O.V. The machine stops all motion for a moment, before the bears nostrils flare wide open and it immediately retreats. The camera begins shaking slightly as the machine resumes, starting to turn around. Shaking greatly increases as the camera turns; a massive humanoid silhouette is seen running towards the R.O.V.
Last transmissions are cut off as a massive humanoid foot appears to crush R.O.V.

Water Horses

Item #: SCP-4XX1
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: Each specimen of SCP-4XX1 is to be contained in an individual enclosure, measuring 30m long x 16m wide x 12m tall. This space is to be divided into 45% solid ground covered in grass, with the remaining 55% filled with fresh or salt water depending on the subspecies of SCP-4XX1 being housed. Each enclosure is to have one wall made of standard Foundation ballistic glass for observation, with remaining walls made of reinforced concrete. Observation windows are to have retractable blast shields equipped for emergencies.
Specimens may only be housed together in opposite-gender couples when breeding is required, per O5 approval. Due to aggressive territorial response, same-gender instances cannot be housed together. Each SCP-4XX1 instance is to be fed up to 25 kg of live fish or small mammals a day, according to breed specifications. All specimens are to be fed one D-Class per month to avoid lapsing into a comatose state.
Description: SCP-4XX1 are a group of creatures with traits superficially resembling that of equines, fish, and amphibians. Despite their almost horse-like appearance, they are entirely carnivorous. Their genetic material is composed of the same amino acids as known life, and is structurally similar, although they are completely unrelated to any known lifeforms. All observed specimens are endothermic, possessing abnormally high basal metabolic rates and muscular density. They have been found worldwide, always near open bodies of water, and tend to vary in appearance from location to location.
All known subspecies of SCP-4XX1 produce an adhesive substance from their skin when above water, designated SCP-4XX1-1. This substance evaporates when exposed to open air, inducing a mild euphoria and hallucinogenic effect when inhaled by humans, compelling them to approach and touch SCP-4XX1. Once contact is made, the adhesive bond cannot be broken unless submerged in water for several minutes, after which time the human has drowned. Once the adhesive bond is broken, SCP-4XX1 will feed on the corpse, typically disregarding the intestines due to the fecal matter contained within.
Consumption of SCP-4XX1 muscle tissue produces similar euphoric effects to SCP-4XX1-1, while also granting enhanced strength at the cost of increased metabolism.

Seeking Greenlights: Yes
Page Type: SCP Article
Genre (Optional): Sci-fi/Horror
Page Layout (Optional): Standard SCP
Elevator Pitch: Pattern Screamers are possessing/infecting inanimate, non-biological objects. These objects gradually cause harm to their owners, feeding off of the blood, pain, and negative emotions associated with such.

-The Curse Of James Dean's “Little Bastard”
Central Narrative: Foundation recovers Cursed Object (possibly Little Bastard) that begins to change into Mimic as accidents "feed" it, eventually resulting in sapient being capable of communication.
Hook/Attention-Grabber: Every day objects can now eat you. Watch out for that microwave…I think it has teeth…
Additional Notes: This is my first idea pitch, hope it's not too bad. Would like to develop this in to an SCP article if possible. Any constructive feedback is much appreciated.
-Mechanical device capable of taking living organisms and modifying them instantaneously based on genetic adaptions calculated by the machine, using inputs such as time and environmental factors.
-Example: Rabbit is placed in device, user inputs Time = 1 Million years, Environment = Arid Savannah. Generations of virtual Rabbits with virtual Rabbit DNA are subjected to a Million years worth of compressed time within a simulation of various permutations of Arid Savannah environments. Optimal genes and structures are collected and stored by the computer.
-Device then modifies sample organism in real time to reflect most dominant characteristics across the various simulations, creating a new species based on generations of extrapolated adaptations and mutations. For example, dog-sized predatory rabbits, lean, agile, and adapted to live in arid grasslands.
