Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be held in a spherical containment unit within the lowest levels of Site-19. The containment unit is to be constructed with 0.3 meter thick titanium and is to have a diameter of at least 6.096 meters and a circumference of 18.85 meters. A steel catwalk is to be run 5 feet below the highest point of the container to allow research personnel to enter but not be attacked due to the organisms inability to climb smooth surfaces. The containment unit is to be lined with 2 cm thick copper wire connected to an electrical grid capable of producing voltage no less than 1 megawatts of electricity. Electrical wiring is to be used to subdue SCP-XXXX when testing is scheduled or if research or maintenance staff needs to enter the containment unit for any reason. Eight cameras are to be positioned as to be able to cover all angles of the container and are to be housed in bullet proof glass and are to have their bases implanted in rubber as to not be destroyed by either SCP-XXXX or the powerful electrical circuit. Once per week the organism is to be fed a mature pig. In the event a human is consumed during testing, there will be two weeks until the next feeding period.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a abnormally large variation of Scolopendra hero (referred to as a giant desert centipede from here on) measuring 1.524 meters in length and about 0.3 meters in width, and has a humanoid face appearing just underneath the forcipules which faces the ground when the organism is not standing. The face of SCP-XXXX is fused into the first body section of itself and has has no skin but rather is made up of smooth muscle tissue found in humans which begins to merge into the exoskeleton present in all centipedes and seems appears to have a permanent look of shock, with its mouth always wide open and eyes bulging from the sockets. SCP-XXXX has the ability to metamorphose into its targeted preys most intense fear, which causes it to have a very high success when hunting, but made securing this specimen very difficult. It is noted that this organism can adapt to its prey while hunting due to its ability to vocalize the sounds of a distressed juvenile of whatever species it is hunting (ex. a distressed fawn while hunting deer or a screaming child if hunting a human). It is believed that this is used to elicit a fear response from its prey which causes the prey to be stunned for a few seconds, giving the organism enough time to transmute into whatever fear it needs to for its prey.

SCP-XXXX was discovered near ████████, Colorado, on July ██, 20██ in an abandoned mineshaft on Mount ████████ (a popular area for tourists and hikers) after reports of a high number of missing persons were reported in the town and from people reporting from other cities about missing family or friends, with many individuals reporting a shapeshifting creature in the area. MTF Epsilon-6 was sent in to investigate the reports but following the discovery of SCP-XXXX and the death of one member , MTF Lambda-12 was dispatched to capture this specimen. After the capture of SCP-XXXX, it was placed into a bullet proof glass container and covered with a tarp. Misinformation measures were put into place that the creature captured was a mountain lion, which explained both the disappearances and and the vocalizations.

Addendum XXXX.1

Events Following Test 3
Following these tests, the subject from test log 3 was sent into quarantine was was subsequently washed and decontaminated. Immediately following this decontamination the subject was sent to an off site foundation hospital and was examined by R.N. █████████ and Dr.█████████. Vital checks showed normal vital signs other than elevated blood pressure at 128/70. Upon examination of the open wound in the subjects lower abdomen, there appears to be a clean cut into the abdominal cavity and there appears to be no damage to any vital organs within the torso of the subject. Subject was then transferred to radiology where a series of x-rays were taken to reveal the subjects body was full of fertilized eggs, and how the eggs became fertilized is still unknown. The subject was then relabeled as SCP-XXXX-1 and kept in an exam room within the hospital and is to be fed as a normal D class personnel and any event related to the gestation or hatching of the organisms within SCP-XXXX-1 are to be monitored and recorded. SCP-XXXX-1 is not considered dangerous but will be returned to Site-19 after a period of 25 days from the date of January █, 20██. On this date the subject will be transferred back to Site-19 and placed into the containment unit that SCP-XXXX was previously held in and monitored for any signs of the eggs hatching.

Research teams on Mount ████████ were contacted and told that the organism is capable of reproduction by laying parasitoid eggs into a host. Investigations into finding the any missing persons in or around the area SCP-XXXX became a top priority and MTF Lambda-12 was dispatched to the area again in order to search the area for any hosts that still may be living. Research personnel were required to be accompanied by a member of Lambda-12 to ensure safety. As of writing this, only one previous host was discovered in the mine, who could only be identified by his drivers license as a Mr. Justin ████████████, a missing person from ████████, Colorado. The ,now deceased, host found with his face half decomposed and the abdomen appearing to have been eaten by what can be assumed as the larvae of SCP-XXXX. Further study is currently underway to discover where the larvae could have gone as the only organism recovered was now deceased. It is thought that these organisms are very competitive and may have killed and eaten each other upon leaving the host.

Gestation period is unknown and SCP-XXXX-1 is under constant surveillance and has his vitals checked daily for any abnormal changes. Next test is to be conducted when the subject begins showing signs that the eggs have hatched. Research staff is using the gestation period of a non-anomalous centipede (about 30 days).

On the date of February █, 20██ SCP-XXXX-1 began to complain of sharp pains in his abdomen, and also of a feeling of something moving around in his body. X-ray images showed that the parasitoid eggs had begun to hatch with the eggs at various levels of emerging from their respective eggs. Experiment started the moment research staff confirmed that the eggs began to hatch (which happened in radiology)
