SCP-XXXX "Anyone" (by MrReilly)

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: Because of the nature of it, SCP-XXXX was contained only once in 2001, but escaped containment and is currently being tracked down by Foundation agents and strike teams. It was in containment for a mere 12 hours before it escaped. Due to this, proper containment requirements are still being hypothesized among the staff members that are working on the case. It is also being debated if SCP-XXXX can be contained at all.

Description: SCP-XXXX appears to be a caucasian white male in his 30s, standing 1.8 meters in height and of an average physical build. Even though it appears to be a human being, it is unknown if it truly is one. He has no uniqueness about his appearance whatsoever, except for having hair shaved to baldness. According to personnel who have heard him speak, SCP-XXXX always has a monotone and calm tone while he is talking. He is usually seen wearing a gray suit. He has also been seen on occasion wearing clothes that blend in with his surroundings, i.e. an overcoat in a laboratory or a jumpsuit in a prison.

SCP-XXXX is unidentifiable to all of the foundation's technology, such as retina scans, facial recognition systems, fingerprinting, speech recognition systems, and even DNA tests. All of these methods used to identify him have produced inconclusive or contradictory results.

SCP-XXXX has been found in photographs dating as far back as the Civil War, which should not be possible due to his apparent age. However, any video footage or audio recordings of SCP-XXXX mysteriously disappear or corrupt. This phenomenon also occurs with brand new equipment, and there is currently no means of preventing this corruption. Thus far, the only way to document SCP-XXXX's presence is via photograph or log entry. It is unknown how and why he appears in the aforementioned photographs. It is also noteworthy to mention his age and physical appearance is the same in all photographs he can be found in. It was also noted by personnel that if people are within a 3 meter radius of SCP-XXXX, or are subjected to enough direct persistence, they are compelled to listen and obey commands from him; these commands are not normally malevolent, but they usually involve concealment of information, denial of contact with him, or other beneficial commands. (See Interview XXXX-1).

SCP-XXXX's disappearance from Site ██ after escaping from his cell, with no video or audio traces left behind, further emphasizes his anomalous effects.

Due to the nature of SCP-XXXX's effects and abilities, it is possible that his manipulation resulted in many important military and political events throughout history. This could possibly mean that his power could cause cataclysmic events to be set in motion, of which Keter class objects are usually responsible.

Object class redesignation is pending.

Audio log from Interview XXXX-1
Interviewer: Dr. █████████
Interviewed: Corporal ████ of MTF Alpha-1
Incident #XXXX

<Begin Log>

[██:██ Time, Research Area ██]
Cpl. ████: I wish we would've had MTF Lambda-5 with us, that would've changed everything…

Dr. █████████: Can you go over the Incident, please? The recording your team got of SCP-XXXX has gone missing, and I think we should document the event from your perspective.

Cpl. ████: Okay, well, I will start off by saying that it seemed like an odd mission for us at first. We were contacted to stop an intruder. Normally we are called for more intense objectives. Anyway, we went to the Site where SCP-XXXX was trying to get the classified information. He, or it, whatever you wanna call it, immediately surrendered and but his hands behind his head upon our arrival.

Dr. █████████: Did SCP-XXXX gain anything of importance?

Cpl. ████: It gained the highest, most classified top-secret documents on SCP-079 and SCP-001. Luckily we detained it and sealed the documents in a more secure area, an underground bunker near Research Site █. Only the highest of the high go there.

Dr. █████████: And how did SCP-XXXX react to its capture?

Cpl. ████: He wasn't surprised by our arrival at all. He showed… nothing. He expressed nothing. He was just… indifferent and calm. Totally unphased.

Dr. █████████: Did anything happen while you were transporting him to Site ██?

Cpl. ████: Well, he didn't do or say anything. We tried to identify him with the tech at the Site, but everything was coming up unresponsive or saying "error" or "insufficient data" or other horseshit like that. We couldn't identify him at all, until we started looking through classified documents. We found him in a few pictures of world-changing events, like the Space Launch, presidential speeches, and more. It was at this point we knew something was up.

Dr. █████████: Did SCP-XXXX respond to any of this?

Cpl. ████: Nope. Nothing. Like talking to a statue. He brushed it all off and just… looked at us. I don't think I ever saw him blink. I still can't tell what he was thinking because of how emotionless he was.

Dr. █████████: You mentioned earlier that you attempted talking to him, correct?

Cpl. ████: Yeah, I did. None of the other guys were attempting to get him to talk, so I decided I was going to be the one to get something out of him. It's not like we had orders against talking to him.

Dr. █████████: Did he say anything?

Cpl. ████: Well, not at first. When we captured him, he had a briefcase on him. Inside were the documents, a broken wristwatch, and a copy of Our Town by Thornton Wilder. I questioned him about the watch and the book, since those appeared to be his own items. Of course, I got nothing from him. Just that blank look. I started getting frustrated that we couldn't get anything on him, and I asked him "Who are you?". I wasn't expecting a response, really, it was a rhetorical question. Surprisingly, he actually responded. The answer I got was… "Anyone". What the hell is that supposed to mean? Honestly, I would've preferred he didn't say anything, since that got us more confused and more frustrated.

Dr. █████████: Would you recognize his voice if you saw him again?

Cpl. ████: That's the weird part, doc. I know he talked to me, but he sounded very ordinary. I wouldn't be able to pick his voice out of a crowd.

Dr. █████████: What happened once you got him in containment?

Cpl. ████: He was sitting on a chair in the center of the room, looking around, studying the cell. Over an intercom, we kept asking questions, but weren't getting anything, as usual. We had direct eye contact with him, since our observation room was beyond a one-way mirror. However, there were mirrors on each side of him, yet somehow he pinpointed where we were and gazed at that spot. Eventually, he asked Private █████ to open the door to his cell. At first, the Private didn't listen to him. But then, after a minute or two of SCP-XXXX's persistence, he slammed the button that controlled the door to the cell. The door opened, plus it malfunctioned and wouldn't close back up.

Dr. █████████: What did you do then?

Cpl. ████: We rushed to the door, guns ready. When we got there, he was nowhere to be found. Not a single fucking trace of him.

Dr. █████████: How do you think he vanished, Corporal?

Cpl. ████: I think the bastard can teleport or time travel or somethin'. That must sound stupid, but you would've had to have been there to know what I'm talking about. I probably sound crazy, or like I'm in a science fiction movie. But I swear on my life, he was there one moment, and then he was gone. Just. Like. That. We watched him walk through the open door, but he didn't come out of the other side.

Dr. █████████: …Alright. I believe that is enough information for now. Thank you, Corporal.

[Shuffling and papers being moved can be heard. Cpl. ████ has left the room.]

Dr. █████████: I request that Mobile Task Force Unit Lambda-5 take up the case if they can, if Cpl. ████ is correct about SCP-XXXX's method of escape. It is paramount that SCP-XXXX must be recaptured and studied.
