Special Containment Procedures: Due to the alleged nature of SCP-001, there is no currently known containment procedure available. Arguments have been made regarding the effect of several rituals of worship to SCP-001 which could possibly contain Its destructive actions and bring forth beneficial ones. The Foundation, however, currently lacks scientific evidence as to the real effects of such rituals and engage in them only as a backup procedure for the lack of other acceptable options.
The ritualistic procedures vary from culture to culture, and it is currently unknown which ritual, if any at all, takes precedence over others in terms of containment effectiveness. Common themes amongst different rituals are complete and total submission to SCP-001, the dedication of one’s life to It, the following of specific rules allegedly laid out by SCP-001 through various means, and the conversion of others for servitude to SCP-001.
It is of importance to note that although no evidence exists for the actual use of such rituals, the diminishing or complete stop of adoration of SCP-001 has been observed to be extremely nocive to mankind. Such observations are based solely on anecdotal evidence. Usually, any entity requires actual proof of existence and its powers, whether dangerous or not, need to be observable in order for classification to be made. In SCP-001’s case, however, the very nature of Its alleged abilities and the sheer number of eyewitness accounts of Its existence require Foundation personnel to, at the least, meticulously look into the possibility of containment. This conclusion is reinforced by the threats made by SCP-001 (information on it is transcribed in the Addendum regarding Event 001-X). Therefore, it is the official Foundation position that ritualistic submission to SCP-001 is highly encouraged, otherwise safe containment may never be fully guaranteed.
Whether SCP-001 should be categorized as Safe, Euclid, Keter or beyond is still a matter being discussed by high-ranking officials of the Foundation along with many authorities from other institutions, governments and organizations.
Description: Arguably, no precise description of SCP-001 is necessary, and describing It may not be possible at all. The very nature of this Entity guarantees that once manifested, any individual would be able to identify It as SCP-001, through one of its many colloquially or officially given names and appearances. Several individuals throughout time alleged to have seen SCP-001 in various forms, such as an [REDACTED] or a [REDACTED]. There are approximately ██ distinct moments in which SCP-001 allegedly appeared to individuals or groups throughout history. All accounts of such events are related only through eyewitnesses' writings or word-of-mouth, all of which cannot have its validities verified. There has never been a proven recording of SCP-001 in video or photographic format.
The appearance of SCP-001 in any form of manifestation, be it metaphysical, material, audio-visual or any other mean, is usually a precedent to a show of power. There are several unproven written records of SCP-001 altering space-time continuum effortlessly, often in malicious and dangerous ways. It is believed that SCP-001 may be responsible for the deaths of approximately [DATA EXPUNGED] human beings. The true extension of Its powers are unknown, but the Entity Itself has been known to boast unlimited abilities.
SCP-001 is generally known to be considerably egotistical and quasi-sadistic, seemingly deriving pleasure from human suffering and fear. SCP-001 considers Itself the only meaningful entity in existence, affirming several times through Its alleged encounters with mankind that humans exist to serve It and only through It, real life can be obtained. This process is often referred to as [REDACTED].
There has been written accounts of SCP-001 using Its powers to forward mankind’s progress or to protect humans from harm, but there is no reason to believe such actions are to be considered good in nature, since they only occur if conditions laid out by SCP-001 are met, usually in the form of compliance to Its various rules of idolization. Furthermore, it must be noted that many of the accounts that exist of SCP-001 acting with good intentions depicts It saving mankind from dangers produced by SCP-001 Itself.
Addendum - SCP-001-A: It is recorded that SCP-001 has manifested a very specific physical form in which It operated freely for some time around ████ years ago, before being captured and killed. As it’s the case with SCP-001, it is currently unknown if SCP-001-A ever existed, since proof of it beyond unverified writing does not exist. Different accounts of events seem to agree that this form, in fact, existed, but there seems to be no consensus of whether it was an actual extension of SCP-001 or simply a [DATA EXPUNGED] from the region of [DATA EXPUNGED]. Some Foundation personnel argue that SCP-001-A could be considered a prime example of the potential danger that SCP-001 poses to mankind, since the mere possibility of Its existence have already caused unfathomable loss of life.
Addendum - Event 001-X: By the alleged words of SCP-001 Itself, transcripted by several individuals chosen by It and relayed to the world by several means, there is a possibility that a K-class end of the world scenario may happen if SCP-001-A manifests itself once again in Its physical form. The events described by SCP-001 vary depending on sources, but most implicate that those who did not follow idolization parameters set by SCP-001 and reinforced by SCP-001-A shall not survive the apocalyptic event, and even those who do shall forever be enthralled to subservience to SCP-001. This is to be considered a direct threat, and Event 001-X is the main reason most Foundation personnel consider studying containment possibilities for SCP-001. If one can not be found in time and SCP-001 indeed proves to exist with the extent of abilities assigned to It, then all other containment procedures ever devised by the Foundation for other subjects will have been in vain.
It is currently unknown when Event 001-X will transpire, but most sources agree that it will happen soon. SCP-001 relayed signs of the return of SCP-001-A, but whether those signs correlate to current observable events or not is a matter of disagreement between personnel knowledgeable on this matter.
Addendum - Notes on other Foundation subjects: There are a select number of other subjects contained by Foundation protocols which have been known to take one or several titles originally belonging to SCP-001. When questioned about SCP-001, most of these subjects manage to avoid referencing It or even acknowledging the questions. In the case of SCP-███, for example, mentioning SCP-001 caused an event that resulted in loss of life and significant property damage to the Foundation, the records of which have since been destroyed by SCP-███ itself. Given the strong reactions SCP-001 seems to entice in these occasions, it is strongly advised that no mention of SCP-001 should be made to any other subject contained with Foundation protocols, be it sentient or not.
Furthermore, the use of various subjects currently handled by the Foundation as possible containment methods for SCP-001 have been consistently denied by the Administrator, and all personnel are discouraged from proposing such use for Foundation assets.
