Item #: SCP-3572
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-3572 is to be kept in a standard storage locker, restricted to Level-3 personnel or above. The SCP object is to remain in containment, removed only for testing or examination, under the observation or orders of Level-3+ personnel.
Description: SCP-3572 is a small, handheld portable video-gaming device, similar in appearance to Sony's Playstation Portable (PSP), but with no obvious company markings. On the back of the system, in a stylized font, are the word's "Player's Destiny", which seems to be the name of the video game played by the console. There is no obvious location for the insertion or removal of other video game cartridges or games, nor is there a spot for charging/recharging, though the object's battery read consistently reads at 68%.
SCP-3572 seems to be in a permanent sleep mode, which can be deactivated by flicking the 'power' switch at the top of the unit, which has two modes labelled 'off' and 'on' respectively. When activated, a brief jingle plays (different every time the console is activated), and the logo 'Player's Destiny' spins into appearance on a black background, same as the logo on the back, before it opens to a loading screen with only one option, labelled 'Start'.
Selecting this option plays a copy of the jingle at the boot sequence, and dissolves into a 'Loading' screen, which lasts an average of eleven (11) seconds, with the shortest thus far being four (4) seconds, and the longest being twenty-two (22) seconds. After the loading screen, a new screen replaces it, with the white text 'Generating Player Model' appearing, lasting the same time as the loading screen had, before it starts with a first-person game, in the exact same area the game's player currently resides.
The game seems to play as a sort of life-simulator, beginning gameplay at the supposed moment where the player sets down the console. The player is then confronted with the same scenario that actually faces them when they set the console down, supposedly reading the future, though the actions of the people that take place afterwards are not always accurate, as researchers have, in the past, deliberately acted differently, which ends up skewing the results.
SCP-3572 initially follows what happens the moment the player actually sets down the console, with nothing unusual happening for the first couple of minutes. However, after this, creatures begin appearing out of nowhere, attacking the player and attempting to kill them. The player can fight back, but the game seems to be unwinnable, with the longest-lasting subject lasting only ██ minutes before being [DATA EXPUNGED]. At this point, the screen fades to black, with the red word "Death" showing up on SCP-3572's screen. The subject experimenting will no longer be able to play the game after this point, though any other person may be able to do so.
Once the game has ended, the scenario that had been shown on screen happens to the subject in real life, with subjects reporting seeing monsters (Designated SCP-3572a) and duplicating the actions they had undertaken in-game, before expiring at the precise moment they expired in game, with the cause of death seeming to be the same. Bystanding personnel are unharmed and are unable to see the examples of SCP-3572a. Similarly, SCP-3572a has been unable to be observed by cameras or sensors of any sort.
Addendum 3572-1: Sightings of SCP-3572a are possible, but only by watching over the player's shoulder as they play SCP-3572. According to players, the creatures that attack them are identical to the creatures in the game. They boast long arms and legs, with a thin torso and a guant, pale face. Long claws and teeth seem to be their preferred method of execution.
Addendum 3572-2: Though the game has no tutorial mode, it does not seem to need one, as players who pick up SCP-3572 seem to understand exactly how to play it.
