Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5187 is kept in a 3m x 3m x 3m solid stone room. Regular maintenance is required due to large amounts of broccoli plants growing every hour. Maintenance requires loud constant annoying music to be played through headphones. Soothing sound must be played in a constant loop over loudspeakers unless told otherwise. No sound must enter SCP-5187's chamber.
Description: SCP-5187 is an oversized piece of broccoli sized at about 0.5m in height with what seems to be an infinite number of stems. All attempts to remove the stems will cause a corrosive material to secrete from the curds that will destroy all metals that have touched it. Any use of organic material to remove the stems will cause an instance of SCP-5187-2.
SCP-5187was found at ████████, ██ in the local ████████ grocery store. The local populous was in shambles and due to large amounts of homicides and missing people. Dr. █████ stated that one day an unmarked produce truck pulled up and unpacked one piece of broccoli. From then on several instances of SCP-5187-2 have been collected around the city.
Whenever a human enters a 5m radius they will enter into a state of constant contemplation and proceed to pick up SCP-5187 and enter a hostile state in which any interaction with other personnel will cause them to fight until all except one is incapacitated. When two or more persons are put into SCP-5187's containment chamber the smarter of them will be drawn to SCP-5187 and inhibit the effects above. The others in the room will start to forget what they were doing and start wandering around until retrieved by personnel. When a person stays in contact with SCP-5187 for over 4 hours they start to shows signs of transformation in an instance of SCP-5187. All attempts to record this transformation will increase in file size tremendously until the device is maxed out.
SCP-5187-2 instances are the warped pieces of humans who have experienced the anomalous effects of SCP-5187. When another human interacts with an instance of SCP-5187-2 their minds are filled will the thoughts of the people who are presumed to of interacted with SCP-5187.
Incident 5187-1: When first found Dr. █████ had noticed that SCP-5187 and all SCP-5187-2 instances were soothed by calm music. Dr. █████ requested that SCP-5187's containment chamber was to be installed with loudspeakers with a loop of smooth music. Day ███ of containment SCP-5187 and all instances of SCP-5187-2 reacted violently causing a Code GREEN lockdown procedure. After successfully containing SCP-5187 D-Class personnel were sent into SCP-5187's containment chamber and discovered a long root hidden underneath the stone.
