Item #: SCP-3680
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-3680 is to be kept at all times inside a 300m²x300m² steel chamber. It's chamber must be always pumped with cinnamon powder by, at least, five (5) factory-sized blowers, at all times. If by any reason no cinnamon is being pumped or the ventilation system is broken (or the supply of cinnamon is lower than 1 ton.), all Site's resources must be sent to provide more cinnamon as fast as possible, in case that is not possible all personal must evacuate the Site in the next six (6) hours and contact MTF Lambda-4 "Birdwatchers". No interaction with SCP-3680 is allowed without a clearence from Site-82 Director. Due to it's large size and gravitional powers, no personal should be inside SCP-3680's chamber without authorization since it's unstable nature can cause unexpected lethal damage.
No cinnamon-based food, or industrialized cinnamon, is allowed on Site-82 or at least in a 5 miles radius around it, as its existence can unexpected reaction of SCP-3680. The only allowed cinnamon-based materials to come to the Site are the weekly cinnamon powder delivery schedule to the second Wednesday each month, SCP-3680-1 or any Director-aproved cinnamon-based material requested by researchers.
At all times, an unmoving air-proof camera should be focused on SCP-3680, if said camera need a repair or is damaged by any means, no more than two (2) authorized personal should enter the chamber for repairs. If available, D-Class Personal should be used for the repair.
In the event of a containtment breach of SCP-3680, Site-82 Director is ordered to call NASA for a global surveinlance of Northern Europe's lower atmosphere, looking for SCP-3680 whereabouts. If it is not found, Mobile Task Force Lambda-4 "Birdwatchers" should be contated for surveinlance of SCP-3680, using at least 10 ton. of cinnamon powder in the lower atphosphere above Norway as bait for SCP-3680. When found, MTF is to lure SCP-3680 back to the Site through the stratosphere.
Description: SCP-3680 is a irregular sphere-like object, measuring aprox. 174m in radius and weighting ███x10²²kg (see Addendum 1). At all times SCP-3680 will be spinning around it's radius at aprox. 2,6 mph, if no spinning is seen on camera the Head Research or the Site's Director should be contacted immediately. It's structure is composed of a luminascent skin-like carbon-based tissue, testing showed the tissue is strong enough to withstand high levels of force with little to no collateral damage. SCP-3680 has it's on gravitional field, making it capable of floating in any kind of way, not only that but SCP-3680 is also capable of expanding said gravitional field with ███ N of force. It's still uncertain how much more force it is capable of creating.
SCP-3680 first reported sighting was on █████, Norway, in 1974 by a group of hunters during a snowstorm, their dogs smelled the scent of it (possible scent of cinnamon) during the storm, leading the group to it. For it's appearence, SCP-3680 was possibly mistaken for the moon and ignored, but as soon as the hunters came close enough, it snapped their group with gravitional strenght, this episode is believed to have happened because the hunters put themselves too close to SCP-3680-1. Their remains were found three days later by local police force, but took around six months for SCP-3680 to be seen again, this time a Foundation agent was around due to personal motives. She reported: "[SCP-3680] started spinning around itself creating a snowstorm, like it was drilling the ground with air", and was quick to contact MTF Lamdba-4 for help — though the jets were capable of somewhat harming it, when the gravitional field exámded both the jets and most of the ground around it were destroyed. SCP-3680 escaped by floating to the atmosphere once more. NASA's survailence showed that it went close to the moon, too far for containment.
During that same month, Foundation personal were sent to investigate the site where SCP-3680 was seen by the agent and where the hunters had been found. They discovered a strange mineral growing there (later labbed SCP-3680-1) that had the same chemical structure as cinnamon. In the next eight months, operation "Moonchaser" begun looking for a way to contain SCP-3680. During one meeting, Agent R████ came with the idea of digging up the site, putting cinnamon in the bottom of it and letting SCP-3680 go inside the hole, constructing the containment chamber around it. Though immense costly and time consuming, the O5 decided, as stated in recording, "a gravitional-controlling space sphere would cause enough trouble released for it to be worth spending".
The construction of Site-82 was planned to end before the next four and half months (having in mind that SCP-3680 only appeared in a six-month window). Although the site was built using only eye measure and was ready in the four-month-window, SCP-3680 did not appeared for another two years (see Chritsmas Incident). When it did came, SCP-3680 used it's size to shape the land around it as it looked for SCP-3680-1. As the cinnamon was placed, it could serve as replacement, with the constant cinnamon pumped in the air serving as a "hypnosis" to it. After that, containment with SCP-3680 was been maintained without greater breaches.
As shown thus far, SCP-3680 have little to no sentient inteligence, acting closely to a plant, fungi or tree. Though passive at most times, it can be very agressive once strartled, normally causing damage to it's chamber with gravitional force or using it against the harmer. Since SCP-3680 feeding parttern is not known, it is especulated that it feeds throught the skin-like material around it's body.
Addendum 1: The following were the results of tests made by Dr. ██████, at time, head of research at Site-82.
Test █ - 23/06/199█
Subject: SCP-3680
Procedure: D-6673 and D-531 were sent to SCP-3680's chamber. Both D-Class were ex-military and both were respectively armed with a RPG-7 rocket launcher (2 missiles), an AK-47 (3 magazines of ammunition) and a granade. Their task would be damage SCP-3680's outter skin, trying to get as much out as possible with their weapons. As a security measure, both were equiped with remote controlled explosive vests.
Results: D-6673 and D-531 were killed by SCP-3680's gravitional force, seconds after the first two missiles hit the object. One hour afterwards, two other D-Class personal were sent there to collect some of SCP-3680's skin on the ground.
Analysis: Even with only 4cm³ collected, SCP-3680's skin weights about [REDACTED] kilos, an enormous amount for its size.
Notes from Dr. ██████'s journal
Thursday, January 18
Today, SCP-3680 has been throught some exams. I think we are making progress to begin to understand what it is made of. With the Director's aproval, I could use a D-Class and explosives as bait to collect some of SCP-3680's "skin" (I mean, what would you call it?). What we found about it was:
- it's skin is carbon-based, though it's iluminascent property is not fully understood.
- SCP-3680's gravitional field is possibly created in it's core, as it does not follow the known rules of gravity nor does it's sample has any abnormal properties
- with about █ kilos, we could calculate SCP-3680's total weight to about ███x10²²kg! It shows how much more of gravitional force it is capable of using, since it sustent itself, floating with no real issue.
Further testing is necessary for more understanding, but it looks promising to me.
Test █ - 09/11/199█
Subject: SCP-3680-1
Procedure: 20 kilos SCP-3680-1 were sent to researchers for analysis, now with collected samples from SCP-3680's skin.
Results: It was shown that SCP-3680-1 and SCP-3680 have indeed a very similar structure.
Analysis: Though we know that, we still can't explain why SCP-3680's skin have luminescent property and as to why the molecules within his body are so heavy compared to SCP-3680-1.
TEST DENIED any kind of testing request to, somehow, go inside SCP-3680's body and investigate it's core have been forbidden by the Site's Director.
