Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: Because of its location in a popular central neighborhood, establishing a perimeter around the house containing SCP-XXXX is impossible. Instead, the house is to be occupied by no fewer than two personnel acting under a cover story. Civilian access to any part of the house is not permitted. Cameras are set up to watch the house on a live feed, and the door to SCP-XXXX is secured with a heavy-duty lock.

The walls of the house have been retrofitted with soundproofing materials. Any noises loud enough to still be audible to the outside are to be explained using the excuse of a loud television. A Foundation plant in the local police department is to intercept any noise complaints from neighbors and administer weak amnestics if necessary.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a room in a house in ███████████, Indiana, wherein light does not penetrate. This renders technology such as night-vision goggles useless, and as such exploration of SCP-XXXX has been conducted solely using touch for navigation. The results of exploration indicate that SCP-XXXX is a standard size room (equal to that indicated on the house's floor plan) and contains standard bedroom furniture. Items removed from within SCP-XXXX display no anomalous properties.

Noises periodically emanate from within SCP-XXXX, originating from no discernible source. These noises vary greatly in volume and content.

The following is a selection of the noises to have been documented:

  • Scratching, as if on wood.
  • Dripping water.
  • Prolonged, wordless screaming in the voice of a woman or child. Sound continued for more than 30 minutes without a discernible pause for breath.
  • A thin whistling, thought to be wind through small cracks.
  • Heavy footsteps.
  • An infant crying.
  • A man's voice saying: "[EXPLETIVE DELETED] it, who [INAUDIBLE] thing here?"
  • Various crashing and banging.
  • Chirping crickets.

Addendum:

Forward: On ██/██/████, for the first time, an apparent communication occurred between Agent Weaver and an unidentified female voice, hereafter termed SCP-XXXX-A, coming from SCP-XXXX. The exchange was recorded by one of the hallway cameras.

<Begin Log>

SCP-XXXX-A: Hello?

SCP-XXXX-A: Hello?

Agent Weaver: Hello?

SCP-XXXX-A: Hello?

Agent Weaver: Can you hear me?

SCP-XXXX-A: Please help me. Is someone there? I'm so scared.

Agent Weaver: Okay, just stay calm. Do you know where you are?

SCP-XXXX-A: (brief pause) I don't know where I am.

Agent Weaver: Can you see anything around you?

SCP-XXXX-A: I can't see anything.

Agent Weaver: Can you feel around for a door?

SCP-XXXX-A: It's so dark. I don't, I don't know where I am.

Agent Weaver: Okay, don't worry, you're going to be fine. Just stay calm. Can you tell me your name?

SCP-XXXX-A: (quiet sobbing)

Agent Weaver: Miss? I need you to tell me your name.

SCP-XXXX-A: I think I'm trapped in here. It's so dark. Please help me, get me out of here. I— There's a door here, but it won't open.

(Agent Weaver unlocks and opens the door to SCP-XXXX.)

Agent Weaver: Hello, Miss? What about now? Can you try the door again?

Agent Weaver: Miss?

<End Log>

Afterward: At this point communications from SCP-XXXX-A ceased and did not resume. Agent Weaver violated protocol and entered SCP-XXXX without observing standard safety procedures. He reemerged after five minutes and kicked the opposite wall, creating a small hole. Agent Weaver was reprimanded for his conduct and the hole was repaired.
