My attempt at writing a tale.

D-64572 was led into a perfect square shaped room, there was a wooden table, with a strange person sitting a one end, and another seat opposite her. On closer inspection, the person was missing an eye.

"Good afternoon D-64572, please have a seat, and before you ask, no you are not being terminated, think of this as a second chance."

"A… second chance?"

"Yes Class-D. A second chance."

"But why me, of all people, I thought that I would be the first person you would terminate, especially due to the recent…"

"Yes, we know about that incident, and if you would just be quiet for a few minutes, I will explain everything."

The 'incident' that was mentioned was a failed mass escape attempt masterminded by D-64572. Her and four other Class-D personnel were nearly able to escape from Site-11, from where they were to be transferred to Area-14. 64572 were successful in the theft of a Leopard-2 type tank and used it to destroy the main gate. A group of MTF Nu-7 personnel sent to extract the Class-D's were able to subdue the group. The MTF personnel terminated four of the Class-D personnel but faked the death of 64572 for an unknown reason, well unknown until now.

"You are here because the people above my paygrade deemed that you would be useful to the Foundation."

"So you wanted to recruit me from the beginning?"

"Yes. We did. But the reason we waited was that we needed a way to cover up the fact that the Foundation willingly recruited a Class-D into their ranks. Also, before you say anything, yes, the Foundation is not as disciplined as it is made out to be. Indeed there are some people that can get slightly… disgruntled over some of the decisions made by us."

"You may have heard of Protocol-12, in fact, we wouldn't be having this conversation at the moment if it was not due to that. Protocol 12, if you did not know, is the 'recruitment' of Class-D personnel from sources other than death row inmates.

"But there is another reason we are having this conversation. And that is Directive-26. Directive-26 was put into writing by the 0-5 council after they realized that some of their most talented personnel were being wasted as Class-D… test subjects."

"We are transferring you to an MTF we are putting together from Class-D personnel that have displayed sufficient proficiency in the field. They are usually Class-D personnel involved in organized escape attempts and other incidents while they are in foundation custody. This includes activities that are beneficial to the Foundation, not just escape attempts or attempts to attack Foundation personnel."

"This Mobile Task Force is named Omega-17, codenamed 'The Directive'. It is a multi purpose task force, that will aid in things ranging from the containment of SCPs, dealing with breaches and many other things, anything that the higher ups deem necessary for the Task Force's attention. And we have selected you to be it's leader."

The person lent forward and placed a reassuring hand on 64572's shoulder.

"I understand that this is a lot to take in, so please ask any questions you need to."

"What will I be known as from now on?"

"You will be known simply as 'The Commander', but your superiors will call you by your name from your life before the Foundation, which in this case is Mary Jackson. Are there any further questions?"

"No."

"Good, tomorrow morning you will be sent to MTF training Area-54 for your training and orientation. Goodbye, and good luck."

D-64572, now known as The Commander (or Mary Jackson), stood up and left the room, ready to embrace her new life in the Foundation.
