Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe Euclid
Picture of SCP-XXXX sold by same company that made SCP
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX may be kept in the Class-D Containment Block with no major security required. It is recommended to not be turned off or there may be a slight mold forming with a slight decay that disappears when music is restarted. We believe the block's material is strong enough. Due to Incident XXXX-01, SCP-XXXX must be in the center space of a styrofoam room approximately 40x40x40m with a styrofoam column under it. There will be more styrofoam on the edges to keep the SCP from falling. The SCP is also supposed to have its own generator that is to be fueled every 24 hours.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a boombox made in the early to mid-70's. SCP-XXXX was recovered from an airport hangar that collapsed in ██████, Massachusetts in 197█. The rotting surrounded the SCP, but they didn't take the SCP until the next day when a sinkhole swallowed most of the airport. A firefighter team picked up the SCP and decided to check if it still worked and played a tape in the SCP, and the visible mold disappeared approximately a minute later. The SCP:F was notified and the SCP was taken from the sight. It was then recorded in Test XXXX-06, the default music (without tapes) is a re-mixture of Fur Elise.
The SCP Is a 2x2x1ft sized boombox made of an undefined metal that is of a combination of different one. The variety of metals in the it is around the variety of different ones in pewter. The metal itself was officially nicknamed "Musical Metal." The speakers have a diameter of the width of a palm and length of a thumb together. The SCP's controls are quite limited, but it still has a classy look.
It was taken to the facility and placed as an illogical, but non-stop entertainment in the CD Containment Block until Incident XXXX-01. The decay range seems to be anything in a 20m radius, often started 30 minutes after no playing with mold, then after 1 hour, objects around it shrivel (still 20m radius) into a powdered material not belonging to itself, but the metal type of the SCP. Styrofoam seems to not fall apart, but weaken when XXXX stops playing. This allows the generator to be refueled in time so the SCP can restrengthen the surrounding styrofoam. It is currently playing loud and clear in its very odd containment chamber.
The metal of the SCP is highly conductive, so the styrofoam cables are filled with the powder from shriveled objects. The generator is 6x2x2m with a titanium tank. It is located inside the room and right next to the styrofoam support. The cable is attached to the tank's generator and a non-acidic battery that is by the SCP.
SCP-XXXX is to be tested twice a week. The first test will be making sure if any abilities have shifted (none have changed so far.) The other test will make sure there are no technical problems.
Tests:
All tests are the most important. Info was taken from the scientists' notes and certain info was added to explain how the detail would end up.
Incident XXXX-01: Audio taken from chest-microphones during a power outage in 200█
NTF Commander: Holy ████! I heard the block was a hole, but not literally.
NTF Commander Right Arm: I have retrieved the box, get the rest of the peasants to retrieve the CD's
NTF Commander: Hurry up, guys, we need to secure everyone!
NTF Commander Right Arm: Secured the box, hooked it up to wires, let's get a move on!
All of the CD's that were unsecured and responding NTF squad died 3-days-later from carbon monoxide, which was leaking from an unnoticed ventilation pipe.
