Special Containment Procedures: The main server storing SCP-XXX1 is to be kept in a room cooled to 20°C and kept disconnected from the internet. The SSD is to be trimmed monthly. The files that make up SCP-XXX1 should be be backed up hourly to a backup server kept in the same room. The main and backup servers should not be connected to each other under any circumstances. The files are to be taken off of the main server, checked for changes, and then added to a new dated folder on the backup server.
Description: SCP-XXX1 is an offline series of archived pages from the YouTube channel ███████ that include: all of the channel's videos and their descriptions, the channel description, the channel discussion page, the channel's playlists, and the layout of its home page. Any videos that had been kept private by the channel owner are not available in the archives.
Addendum-1: ██/██/████
As of today, Dr. ██████ has noticed a seemingly unexplainable change in the files of SCP-XXX1. The description of the first video on the channel has been replaced with chinese characters. A translator has confirmed that the characters were chosen at random and have no meaning. Dr. ██████ says that the server has never been connected to the internet at any point, and that the issue might be in the operating system of the server hosting SCP-XXX1. A backup plan will be created and appended to the SCP's special containment procedures effective tomorrow.
Addendum-2: ██/██/████
A backup plan has been created; the server has been wiped and the files have been replaced. Changes will be searched for and logged.
Addendum-3: ██/██/████
During a routine backup at █:██ today, Dr. ██████████ has noticed a major change in one of the videos and confirmed that, despite the only files on the server being static .mhtml files, a video's content has been changed to random data. Dr. ██████████ has confirmed that the server was never directly connected to anything else. This incident will be investigated, but it is now confirmed that the changes in SCP-XXX1 are not caused by the server.
Addendum-4: ██/██/████
After further investigation, it was found that the page containing the corrupted video contained an exploit known as Shellshock. The exploit code has been removed from the file. Dr. ██████ has investigated the server and confirmed that despite exploit code being present, there is no reasonable way for the exploit to have been triggered. Dr. ██████████ adds that even if someone were to open the page, unless they had opened it on the server, there should be no way for the exploit to have affected the server.
Addendum-5: ██/██/████
During a routine check, it was discovered that the backup server for SCP-XXX1 had been completely erased. Investigation on the main server shows that there was another example of the Shellshock exploit, this time running a command that wiped the system opening it. Dr. ██████ says that, even though it seems impossible to him, it looks as if either SCP-XXX1 has some way to protect itself. He believes that either SCP-XXX1 is some kind of program that is trying to erase copies of itself, or that there is an entity trying to erase copies of SCP-XXX1. Dr. ██████████ believes that the first possibility is far more likely, but is unsure of why it would attempt to erase backups of itself. Dr. ██████ suggests replacing the backup server with just a single SSD instead of a full server, which should make it impossible for files to change unless it was plugged into something.
Addendum-6: ██/██/████
After further inspection of SCP-XXX1 and the servers containing its data, it is now clear that neither are responsible for placing or running the exploits. Dr. ██████ believes that the only two possibilities are a rogue SCP employee, or some kind of entity trying to destroy the archives.
Addendum-7: ██/██/████
The room containing the main and backup servers of SCP-XXX1 were watched under 24-hour surveilance for █ days. Nobody entered the room. Dr. ██████ and Dr. ██████████ looked at the servers together and discovered that the main server had been completely wiped, and the backup server missing the vast majority of its (previously) ███ backups. Dr. ██████ and Dr. ██████████ have concluded that there is an entity trying to erase SCP-XXX1. This entity has been dubbed SCP-XXX1-A.
