Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept non-operational and inside a secure, marked container. Clearance is Level 2 or above. Currently SCP-XXXX is stored at Site-64.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a completely unbranded bug zapper, only similar in design to the Flowtron BK-40D. No anomalous components have been uncovered through dismantling and dissection, and operation is identical to an average non-anomalous bug zapper. SCP-XXXX's abnormal properties only begin when the object is powered and turned on. When powered, SCP-XXXX attracts all living insects within a 4 kilometer (2.48 miles) radius. Anomalous insects appear to be affected as well, as corroborated by the discovery of several instances of SCP-███ and SCP-████. For this reason the object has been proposed to be used in the containment of notoriously difficult-to-contain SCPs.
SCP-XXXX was discovered in the possession of ██████ ██████████, a 57-year old man living in ██ Conwell Street, Casper, Wyoming, US on May 7, 1992. Personnel became privy to SCP-XXXX's existence when embedded personnel in the Casper Police Department were met with multiple reports of missing pets in the region on May 5, 1992. This included ants, tarantulas, spiders, and mealworm and cricket farms. Agents in Casper PD were then confronted by ██████ ██████████ on May 6, 1992, admitting the strange appearance and death of the missing pets at his porch. Agents discovered SCP-XXXX after brief investigation. It was recovered the following night.
