Item #: SCP-5109

object class: safe

special containment procedures: SPC-5109 is to only be interacted with by level 2 and up security clearance personnel. Any time, whether it be casual or experimental use, the results are required to be recorded and are needed to be sent to a level 3 or up security clearance researcher.

SCP-5109 is kept at all times in a soundproof room with a single door and no windows. glass objects of any kind are strictly not allowed within SCP-5109's containment room, as are any ceramics. the object is kept in █████████ at ██████ with a level 3 security clearance standing guard.

Description: SCP-5109 is an all-black Fender styled precision bass guitar with no company labels, or any form of identification present on the body. any attempts to trace the maker have resulted in failure. three small unidentifiable stickers are present on the bottom left of SCP-5109's body and are seemingly unable to be taken off.

SCP-5109 gives it's user the instant ability to play it as if they were an expert, required the user is over the age of 14 and has proper hand function needed to play such an instrument. though it is not clearly known at this time why the individual playing SCP-5109 must be over 14 for the effect to work

SCP-5109 has been recorded to play not only any style of music able to be played on bass guitar but any musical instrument as well. emitting whichever kind of music the user chooses. Including; guitar acoustic or electric, piano, flute, trumpet, and Otamatone. SCP-5109 was not found with an amplifier or patch cord but works properly with the ones provided.

many tests conducted on SCP-5109 have resulted in the players reporting a feeling of joy, or accomplishment while playing SCP-5109. see addendum 5109.1 for more information.

the object is not limited to playing musical instruments, SCP-5109 is also capable of playing any sound the user can think of, even going as far as being able to recreate human voices to a certain extent. in one test, a D class stated as wanting to play quote; "something loud" which resulted in a deafeningly loud noise that effected all persons inside the testing room. four injuries occurred relate to eardrum damage and shattered glass due to the sound SCP-5109 emitted.

it is thought that for SCP-5109 to create the sound that the user chooses, the user does not need to directly think of, or verbalize what they want. rather SCP-5109 manifests the sound on its own, which can be dangerous if the user is in a bad state of mine, or has ill intent.

discovery SCP-5109 was discovered when police officers were called to the home of █████ ███████ in ███████ Ontario after a teenage girl had committed suicide. police officers came to talk with the family, as well as take a look around. while two officers were in the girl's room, they found her bass and irresponsibly decided to play it. the officers were startled when they were suddenly experts at it, having never played in their lives.

once it was made semi pubic, the facility quickly took custody of SCP-5109 and took care of any suspicion that the family or officers may have.

it is speculated that the girl's death could have something to do with SCP-5109's ability, stated by her family that she was a very talented bassist in the years leading up to her death. the girl was 14 when she first started playing which could explain why SCP-5109 only works for users 14 and older, though the facility is still trying to figure out the connection.
