Item #: SCP-????
Object Class: Safe Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-???? is to be kept inside a standard containment chamber reinforced with at least five (5) feet thick walls to prevent effects of SCP-????'s anomalous properties.
If the chamber needs to be entered in order for testing purposes or reasons of a similar fashion, personnel needs to be psychologically tested and questioned about current sleep behavior. Note that only SCP personnel which is able to pass the Mental Toughness Inventory (MTI) and shows mental resilience during an altered version of the Milgram Experiment are allowed to enter the containment chamber. D-Class personnel is exempt from these requirements and only D-Class personnel is allowed to be subjected to tests involving SCP-????. SCP-????-01-R has been deemed cured by medical personnel on site ███ and will be let go after a final interview has been conducted.
Description: SCP-???? appears to be a standard Twin XL size bed. The bedstead resembles a bedstead from the early 20th century, the mattress appears to be quite modern. However, after initial testing, it has been concluded, that the mattress indicates shapeshifting qualities, adapting to the preferred sleeping habits of the observer. This seems to be one of many anomalous attributes associated with SCP-????.
Furthermore SCP-???? appears to have telepathic properties as well, effectively convincing victims inside a three (3) feet radius to rest on SCP-????. This process transforms them into an instance of SCP-????-01, rendering them dependant on SCP-????. Note that SCP-???? can only maintain one instance of SCP-????-01 at a time.
SCP-????-01 enters a comatose state, appearing to be dead to any form of biometric scanning or medical inspection. However, if attempted to be removed from SCP-????, SCP-????-01 enters an adrenaline induced state of anger, where SCP-????-01 attacks surrounding objects/persons in a non-determinable pattern.
After initial exposure to SCP-????, instances of SCP-????-01 experience heavy symptoms of amnesia, not remembering their actions during their phase of aggression. Afterward instances of SCP-????-01 also experience insomnia, claiming to be unable to fall asleep, if they cannot sleep in the bed.
During their phase of heavy insomnia, instances of SCP-????-01 become unrealistically dehydrated and malnourished. Although being able to eat and therefore regain a BMI of roughly 20 through long and intensive diet plans, this acceleration of SCP-????-01's metabolism seems to be permanent.
SCP-???? has been first discovered in ████████, Massachusetts in a retirement home after local authorities have been informed about the unresponsiveness of one of the residents, an ██ old caucasian male named ████ Rogers (who will be referred to as SCP-????-01-R from now on). Authorities have requested support from medical teams beforehand as it was suspected that the resident has died of old age. SCP-????-01-R has been found lying on SCP-???? in a, as described by witnesses before receiving Class-B amnestics, motionless but very peaceful manner. Medical personnel reported no vital signs when examining SCP-????-01-R. As authorities tried to lift the subject out of SCP-????, SCP-????-01-R entered an adrenalin-infused state, assaulting multiple authorities and medical personnel. SCP-????-01-R could be heard screaming wild profanities and insisting on being left alone and being allowed to rest, whilst removing both ███████ from one policeman's body without an apparent tool to aid him in this task other than his bare hands. An MTF was sent to the scene and managed to restrain SCP-????-01-R long enough so that anesthetics could be administered in order to neutralize the threat that SCP-????-01-R posed. After retrieving SCP-???? and securing it on site ███, members of the MTF underwent extensive psychological testing in order to determine if SCP-????'s anomalous properties were also affecting the agents.
Addendum ????.1: After believed rehabilitation of the first recorded instance of SCP-????-01-R, a final interview was conducted by Dr. Fisher for research purposes.
Interviewer: Dr. Stanley Fisher
Interviewee: SCP-????-01-R
[BEGIN LOG]
Dr. Fisher: Hello there, Mr. Rogers.
SCP-????-01-R: (Observes the room in a seemingly nervous manner) How long was I here?
Can I go?Dr. Fisher: Yes, Mr. Rogers, if you just answer me a couple of questions. Can you do that for me?
SCP-????-01-R: (sighs) I will see, what I can do doctor.
Dr. Fisher: Thank you. So, when was the last time you had that dream that you were so scared about, Mr. Rogers?SCP-????-01-R: It was horrible. (SCP-????-01 adjusts its glasses) I remember being in the
retirement home when the nurses brought in a new bed for me. Seeing as it was already getting pretty late in the afternoon, I decided to go to bed.Dr. Fisher: Mr. Rogers, let me quickly interject. Are you sure you went to bed on your own
behalf?SCP-????-01-R: (SCP-????-01 appears to be looking down to the ground, vocalizing sounds too silent for any present person to hear) Yes.
Dr. Fisher: I see. I hope you don't mind me asking, what changed your mind about that?
SCP-????-01-R: What do you mean, doctor?Dr. Fisher: Before you mentioned how you were asked if not even forced to lie into said bed.
SCP-????-01-R: (A short period of silence ensued, SCP-????-01 once again appears to be looking down to the floor) Nonsense. Beds can't talk.
Dr. Fisher: Why would you assume I am referring to the bed?
SCP-????-01-R: Does it matter, doctor? Can I continue my story? (SCP-????-01 voice raises) I went to bed and I fell asleep. I dreamt about a lot of horrible things but I've been told that these dreams are normal. I woke up with my hands stained in blood. I have been told, that this is normal too! I cannot sleep anywhere else now since I am not allowed to sleep in the bed!
Dr. Fisher: Who do you think told you that?
SCP-????-01-R: You did! All of you did! You all want to hurt me, I've been told. You all don't want me to ever sleep again and rest! I've been told before I even got here-
Dr. Fisher: Calm down, ████. Nobody wants to hurt-
SCP-????-01-R: You all say that! (SCP-????-01 jumps up from its chair) But nobody here is actually helping me! I want to sleep! Please let me sleep! I don't want to wake up. I don't want to wake up. I don't want to wake up….. (SCP-????-01 stands still in the room repeating the same phrase indefinitely)
Dr. Fisher: (Dr. Fisher rises from his chair) This was a mistake. I am sorry, Mr. Rogers, but I believe that you are not ready to go home yet. The personnel will show you to your confinement, where we will discuss further methods to cure you. (Dr. Fisher proceeds to walk to the door)
SCP-????-01-R: If you don't want me to sleep, then I will *inaudible* (SCP-????-01 runs to the wall opposing the door and begins to fracture its skull willingly)
Dr. Fisher: Get somebody in here!
(Security personnel tries to subdue SCP-????-01-R, but is being forced back with unusual strength for a human in this age category)
