Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: All instances of SCP-XXXX-A are to be held in a 20m x 20m x 20m metal enclosure roughly 2/3 filled with loose soil that has light from large windows to allow for natural flora to grow. Burrows are not to be interrupted or tampered with unless called for by research and study purposes.

SCP-XXXX-A is to be supplied with a specialized mixture of pellets and produce each day, with 0.5kg blocks of calcium mixed in for their shells.

SCP-XXXX-B is to be held in a similar enclosure to SCP-XXXX-A, with the exception being it must be kept humid at all times and SCP-XXXX-B is to be fed only vegetables on a daily basis. Feeding dispensers for both subspecies are marked with the exact food measurements needed.

Population of both SCP-XXXX subspecies should remain relatively consistent; any significant aberration to this number is to be reported to site security.

No personnel under Level 2 clearance may enter either enclosure unless accompanied by faculty of Level 2 or higher; contact with SCP-XXXX instances have been shown to improve morale in the site See Incident Report XXXX-01.

Description: SCP-XXXX is the collective term for two species of gastropod-leporid hybrids. Both generally resemble bunnies or hares in appearance, with the distinct difference of having slimy skin rather than fur and eye stalks that replace the ears, though there are still eyes where they would be on any normal rabbit or hare.

One subspecies, designated SCP-XXXX-A, has a shell and a darker tint to their skin, while the other, designated SCP-XXXX-B, has no shell and much tougher skin. Both have been observed to have cartilaginous bone structures, allowing them to hop around for travel. Each specimen varies in size and weight, with the average being roughly 1.6kg in weight.

Both subspecies SCP-XXXX exhibit the ability to climb walls and ceilings, though through this their ability to hop is lost in favor of climbing vertical surfaces. SCP-XXXX-A has shown the ability to retract their entire bodies into their shells if threatened. SCP-XXXX-B has shown to prefer to engulf their attacker en masse, attempting to scare off or suffocate the predator. Both subspecies have been shown to bite if in distress, though SCP-XXXX-B is more prone to biting.

Breeding habits of both subspecies resemble those of rabbits or hares, though they lay 10-15 eggs that each take around 2-3 weeks to hatch. The average lifespan of SCP-XXXX instances is about 4 years, having the longevity of their gastropod counterparts despite having similar physiology to leporids. Population increase had been a problem in containment before; resolution was achieved by limiting their food factor.
