SCP-XXXX on a piece of leather 13 seconds before converting it.1
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: Object SCP-XXXX is to be kept within a standard containment cell with a metal table. SCP-XXXX will remain inside a box of stainless steel, roughly 15 centimeters wide and 20 centimeters in length. Which will be kept on the table at all times. The lid of the box will remain on unless authorized by Research Director ██████ or Site Director ███████.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a piece of construction paper, its light green color gradients into a light blue. It is folded into the likeness of a butterfly and despite its composition, the object is capable of self-sustained flight. In the presence of a biological organism, SCP-XXXX will fly towards them. SCP-XXXX will then attempt to land on the organism. SCP-XXXX is easily removable, as it does not own any method of attaching itself other then pressing itself to the person. SCP-XXXX has proven the ability to survive physical, chemical, and radioactive trauma, so while removal is possible, destruction is not. Once attached to the organism for 45.1 seconds, SCP-XXXX will begin to convert the biological matter of the being into construction paper. Converting at a speed of 2 kilograms every 3 minutes. This process is noticeably uncomfortable, causing irritation to the affected area, with D-Class personnel claiming a slight burning sensation. Subjects affected by SCP-XXXX's conversion cannot be reverted by conventional means.
If SCP-XXXX is capable of converting the being entirely into construction paper, the organism will fall apart into several sheets, measuring at 22.86 cm by 30.48 cm. For every 4 kilograms one of these sheets is made. These sheets will begin folding themselves into several shapes listed as SCP-XXXX-1, this process taking 4-6 minutes, depending on complexity. A list of recorded shapes are as followed:
- Spiders, crawl instead of fly, and can climb walls.
- Cranes, fly perpetually unless landing on an organism.
- Flamingos, rarely fly and mostly stand in the place they are folded.
- Parrots, fly periodically, but sometimes make a auditory crinkle.
- Frogs, leap over 1 meter at a time as a method of locomotion.
- Butterflies, act exactly the same as SCP-XXXX
Instances SCP-XXXX-1 will attempt to convert organisms aswell, but are capable of being destroyed and immobilized. However once one of SCP-XXXX-1 is injured/destroyed by an organic organism, all instances of SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX become hostile, and will pursue them. SCP-XXXX is deemed safe, as it has made zero attempts to escape. Experiments are allowed if approved by Research Director ██████ or Site Director ███████. See Test A and Addendum B.
Test A - 17/06/20██
Testing Basis: To see if SCP-XXXX conversion is limited to certain organisms.
Procedure: Introduction of several fauna and flora into SCP-XXXX's containment cell. These include:
- Two D-Class personnel(D-8923, John Collings, age 43. D-2422, Joanne Roxi, age 23.)
- One Golden Retriever.
- One Parakeet.
- One Imperial Scorpion.
- One Cypress sapling.
- One growth of Spiky Bog-moss
- One bush of Carnations.
Results: Once the conversion targets moved into the Cell, SCP-XXXX was released by Security staff and began flying into the air. The Security staff immediately vacated the chamber and sealed the door. D-class subjects voiced confusion and mild anxiety. SCP-XXXX landed on one of the Cypress saplings, and after 45.1 seconds SCP-XXXX began converting the tree into paper. Once the tree was fully converted it collapsed and turned into several flying instances of SCP-XXXX-1. D-class showing signs of distress and attempt escape from restraints with no success. SCP-XXXX and SCP-XXXX-1 spread to the remaining living organisms and attempt to convert them. SCP-XXXX and SCP-XXXX-1 are successful in converting everything except D-8923. It was observed that a instance of SCP-XXXX-1 landed on D-8923 but immediately removed itself and flew away as far as possible from D-8923. Other instances SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX immediately flew, crawled, or leapt as far as possible from D-8923. SCP-XXXX and instances SCP-XXXX-1 attempted to ram into the glass window of the observation room. Presumably to get further away from D-8923. Research staff ended the test and ordered Security to recover the D-class. Security entered SCP-XXXX's containment and recovered D-8923 without incident. Security were immediately sent into the containment cell equipped with flamethrowers and reduced the number of SCP-XXXX-1 to zero. After which they found SCP-XXXX and returned it into its box. No Security staff was lost.
Analysis: Upon examination of D-8923, a cancerous growth was seen on his liver. D-8923's liver was in poor condition upon entry into the Foundation and seems to have worsened. No other irregularity was seen in D-8923's condition. SCP-XXXX seems to have a fear, or a anxiety of cancer cells.
Researcher ██████ Statement: "SCP-XXXX's fear of cancerous growths is a fascinating development. The other staff and I have requested to extend the research of SCP-XXXX as to possibly find out why but.. The SD has suspended research til the containment cell is reinforced. [Inaudible speech, presumably from Research Staff.] Hm? What? Really? This thing acted out of fear that was hardly intentional- Euclid? Jesus."
Addendum A: SCP-XXXX was obtained on 29/11/20██, in the town of [REDACTED] in the British Isles. It was found inside a storefront named [REDACTED]. The owner of the storefront named Joseph ████████ upon questioning, claimed that his late niece had made it before she had passed away. The owner refused to part with SCP-XXXX. The owner began to become aggravated when offering substantial compensation. Field Operatives had to detain the owner in order to obtain SCP-XXXX. When SCP-XXXX was acquired he was given Class-A amnestics and returned to his storefront. A fake of SCP-XXXX of the same composition and color was placed in SCP-XXXX's stead at the store.
Addendum B: SCP-XXXX has been updated to Euclid as the damage done to the window is unknown to be deliberate or not. Further tests will be made once the window has been replaced and reinforced. Upon further investigation of the storefront owner's niece, she had passed away from the spread of Lung cancer to her esophagus and heart, causing heart and lung failure. A connection from this to SCP-XXXX is feasible but not confirmed, and how she made the anomalous properties of SCP-XXXX is still unknown.
