SCP-4730 in █████, Oregon.

Item #: SCP-4730

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SPC-4730 Is to be kept closed inside of an SCP Foundation site, currently known as Site-██. Due to SCP-4730’s Anomalous properties these sites are to be constructed from portable or cheap materials so they can be transported easily once SCP-4730 is found again to be re-contained.

Anybody who approaches the Site is to be interrogated on why they have come to the location and given Class A Amnestic.

Description: SCP-4730 is building resembling a library built in the 16th Century, which randomly teleports and manifests to another location every 1-3 months. SCP-4730 manifests 3 days after it disappears in a remote location near towns on city’s. It has been located in several countries and is currently residing in █████, Oregon. On the exterior it appears to be a completely normal library from the 16th century fitting the look at the time.

Upon entering SCP-4730 the building seems to look like a completely normal library except for the Alter in the centre. When a human enters SCP-4730 a Caucasian Male in a grey hood referring to himself as “the gatekeeper” will manifest on this alter called SCP-4730-1. He will talk to the subject entering saying the words “Hello adventurer! Welcome to my collection. Take a book and enter any world you seek!”. Any attempts to interview or contain SCP-4730-1 have resulted in failure as he refuses to talk about his origin. Further attempts to remove SCP-4730-1 from SCP-4730 have resulted in failure with him removing foundation personal through an unknown way of teleportation.

Upon choosing a book as SCP-4730-1 requests he will escort everyone currently in the library to the back room, at which the Library’s true anomalous properties are shown. In the back room resides a large surface of water, where SCP-4730-1 throws the chosen book into the surface and encourages everyone in the area to jump in. Jumping into these books takes whoever went in to appear in the book they chose, which will be discussed later. 12 people1at a time can enter these books at a time and a subject cannot enter the library again until the next day. The foundation has tried several times to take these books; first they asked SCP-4730-1 to take these books out which he denied, then a D-Class Personal tried to steal the book. He was successful until he exited SCP-4730 with the book shattering in his hand. The subject was not allowed back in SCP-4730 and the book was replaced the next day.

The books in SCP-4730 have been labelled SCP-4730-2 to 4730-34, these books have all been accordingly written by SCP-4730-1. Any other books brought in to SCP-4730 not written by SCP-4730-1 will be denied. These books fall under four major categories; horror, sci-fi, fantasy and crime along with other smaller categories such as romance, mystery and dystopia which have not been researched yet. In these books the subjects will be assigned roles as the characters or new ones if there is more people than intended for the book. If a user dies or is written out of the book they will resurface from the water in SCP-4730. They will know the entire plot once out and will often be confused onto where they are with the affect lasting for a short period. The subject takes exactly 10 minutes to reappear despite the book taking place longer than the time period.

Events in the books cannot be recorded as any equipment including clothes will be taken of the subject and returned to them after their book has ended. Due to no negative effect taking after using a book in SCP-4730 access is allowed to Foundation personal as relief as long as it is granted by higher class personal and they avoid books tagged as ‘horror’ to avoid a repeat of Incident SCP-4730-3.

The following books that have been wrote down by D-Class during testing can be seen below.2This includes Incident SCP-4730-3.
