Special Containment Procedures:
Displaced or newly discovered instances of SCP-XXXX-A are to be sought out and contained, via monitoring of electromagnetic pulses and other means. Every uncontained instance of SCP-XXXX-A is to be evaluated by a containment engineer and either be moved to an individual secure locker at Site-45, or have a perimeter established around the instance, with an exclusion zone of a size deemed acceptable by a containment engineer. Every perimeter and locker are to include motion-activated alarms within their construction. An armed response teams should be made available to respond to triggerings of the alarms. Armed response teams are to prevent unauthorized access to any instance of SCP-XXXX-A with lethal force, if necessary. Under no circumstances should any unauthorized personnel be allowed to enter SCP-XXXX-B. Every SCP-XXXX-A instance should be checked weekly to ensure the integrity of their perimeter or locker, with maintenance carried out when needed.
MTF-Unit Theta 40 designated "Record-Sweepers" is to respond to any major breaches of security relating to SCP-XXXX. If no MTF-Unit with that designation is recorded within the Foundation Database, it is to be assumed that a breach is currently occurring and that MTF-Unit Theta 4 is already operational. Members of MTF-Theta-40 are exempt from the 1 trip rule into SCP-XXXX-B.
All knowledge of SCP-XXXX-B is held within Area-16. Any records about the inside of SCP-XXXX are to be considered fraudulent, unless the author of the record's location can be determined. Supplying and maintaining Area-16 is considered a Beta priority at all times. The records for memetically hazardous SCPs contained with Area-16 are never to be decommissioned.
Personnel are limited to one expedition into SCP-XXXX-B ever, to prevent further obfuscation of documentation on SCP-XXXX-B. Any personnel assigned to Area-16 within SCP-XXXX-B should have their bodies and copies of their documentation transported back to Earth when they die. Any names of Class A, B or C personnel who will be exposed to SCP-XXXX-B should be blackboxed to prevent the inhibition of documents containing them when the persons in question are within SCP-XXXX-B.
Any mention of The Forgotten Digit should be investigated. All members of The Forgotten Digit should be brought into Foundation custody outside of SCP-XXXX-B, and all materials relating to the Forgotten Digit should have a copy in the databases of both Area-16 and the main Foundation database.
At no point should any instance of SCP-XXXX-A ever be brought into SCP-XXXX-B.
Description:
SCP-XXXX is a number of dimensional rifts localised within archwaysand other similar structures, such as rings or doorways, with each instance being classified as an instance of SCP-XXXX-A. There is no visible disturbance caused the rift, unless an object is passing through it or a significant temperature difference exists between each side of the rift. Upon entering any instance of SCP-XXXX-A subjects are instantanously relocated to a dimension henceforth referred to as SCP-XXXX-B. Any living thing within SCP-XXXX-B cannot be remembered outside of SCP-XXXX-B. This memory-suppressing effect also applies to any materials relating to people within SCP-XXXX-B, with primary examples of affected materials being writings, photographs, or other depictions of the subject. Upon exiting SCP-XXXX-B, these memory-suppressing effects cease, and records of, and by the affected individual as well as the individual themselves can be remembered.
There are believed to be 4000 instances of SCP-XXXX, with 3452 currently in containment, and 548 undiscovered. Upon the destruction of an instance, either by introduction into another instance or degradation of the frame, a new instance opens up instantaneously somewhere around the world, with both the destroyed instance and the new instance releasing powerful electromagnetic pulses in this "displacement" event. Due to this, known instances should have caution taken to aid their preservation, in addition to regular containment.
Instances of SCP-XXXX-A have ranged from 1.23cm x 1.23cm1 to roughly 50m x 20m.2
Notable forms taken by instances of SCP-XXXX-A have included:
- SCP-XXXX-A-1 : A brick arch from a derelict building in Arrowtown, New Zealand. (Note: This was the first instance discovered by the Foundation in 1987.)
- SCP-XXXX-A-2 : Back door of a liquor store in Slough, UK. (Note: This was the second instance of SCP-XXXX-A discovered.)
- SCP-XXXX-A-13 : Between the roots of a mangrove tree in Darwin, Australia.
- SCP-XXXX-A-121 : Within a doorway for a set of miniature model scenery.
- SCP-XXXX-A-142: Underwater, localized within a rock formation within the tonga trench. (Note: This was the first instance of 2679 currently known underwater in some capacity.)
- SCP-XXXX-A-154 : Within a natural arch at Port Campbell National Park, Australia. (Note: This instance was naturally neutralised due to lack of maintenance.)
- SCP-XXXX-A-1142 : The wedding ring of Doug Danely in Nova Scotia, Canada. (Note: Doug was amnesticised and his ring was replaced; this was the smallest instance ever located.)3
- SCP-XXXX-A-2233 : Within an arch in the Colosseum, Rome. (Note: This instance was intentionally displaced via deliberate destruction of 40% of the structure. This was done to make containment of the instance significantly more feasible.)
- SCP-XXXX-A-2562 : A small link of mesh fencing intended for the containment of small rodents.
- SCP-XXXX-A-3001: Localized with a doorway, held within a removed wall segment in the basement of an abandoned toy store in Ushuaia, Argentina. (Note: This instance was located in a raid of a Forgotten Digit headquarters.)
SCP-XXXX-B is a small planet, measured to be approximately 40% the size of the earth.4 It is believed that exactly 4000 SCP-XXXX-A have been present on earth for the last 40,000 years. Due to this SCP-XXXX-B is thought to contain an active ecology comprised of species from Earth, although our only knowledge of flora and fauna from SCP-XXXX-B come from extracted specimens, including some animals and plants extinct outside of SCP-XXXX-B, including the Tasmanian Thylacine and The Red Gazelle. From the cartographical efforts of the late Dr Stronkins, it is understood that several rivers, of both salt and fresh water, flow through SCP-XXXX-B, with water being fed via both SCP-XXXX-B's natural water cycle and SCP-XXXX-A instances that have occurred underwater. It is unknown if water is endemic to SCP-XXXX-B, or introduced by the SCP-XXXX-A instances. In addition to plants, animals, bacteria and fungi, SCP-XXXX-B is also home to several people, many of whom are either part of, or involved with the group known as The Forgotten Digit.
The Forgotten Digit are a group of individuals who previously were the main governmental power in SCP-XXXX-B, which they refer to as "The Memory." Since the establishment of Area-16, 245 members of The Forgotten Digit have been apprehended. The Forgotten Digit considers the number 4 sacred, and recovered Forgotten Digit Doctrine states that there are always 400 members, and otherwise would cause disaster. Due to this, since the apprehension of a majority of the Forgotten Digit in 2003, it is believed that the remainder are attempting to regain their numbers. Foundation efforts within SCP-XXXX-B have raided and dismantled 3 Forgotten Digit camps, and retrieved 83 infant children, who, once taken out of SCP-XXXX-B were reported missing, and were subsequently amnesticised and returned to their families. All children were the 4th child to be born in their family.
In addition to the living inhabitants of SCP-XXXX-B, a duplicate of all instances of SCP-XXXX-A are present within SCP-XXXX-B. Each duplicate is connected with the corresponding identical instance on earth, and entering one from Earth will lead to the duplicate in SCP-XXXX-B, and vice versa. The geographic location of SCP-XXXX-A instances on Earth do not appear to coincide with their duplicates location upon SCP-XXXX-B. Due to this, educated navigation through SCP-XXXX-B could theoretically be used by the Foundation to dramatically decrease travel times around the Earth.
Discovery:
SCP-XXXX was first brought to foundation attention after Richard Ghurt, the mayor of the small English town of Tottenham, was reported to be missing for 3 weeks, right before he reappeared. However, he had been replaced without ever being taken out of office. Townspeople interviewed by the foundation reported that they had been without a Mayor for 6 months and so elected a new Mayor. Simultaneously they also reported that their mayor for the last 6 months, Richard Ghurt, went missing and claimed to be relieved to have their mayor recovered after 3 weeks. Richard Ghurt was interviewed after his 3 week stint within SCP-XXXX-B, where he claimed to have survived off of "the kindness of the people there." Both Richard Ghurt and the newly elected Mayor's were given class-B amnestics, and Richard Ghurt was reinstated. The entire town was issued Class-A amnestics.
