SCP-XXXX-A-32 in containment.

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: Instances of SCP-XXXX are to be collected and stored in a secure locker fitted with a padlock. Experimentation is restricted to Level 3 personnel with the permission of head researcher Isle Marsely Hayden Risa.

As part of safety precautions, Foundation webcrawler I/O-OBSIDIAN is to monitor online shopping platforms and remove any wool scarves up for sale. MTF Rho-3 ("PETA") is to organize protests in front of clothing manufacturing corporations or stores to actively discourage the promotion of wool-related products.

In the meantime, Foundation efforts are ongoing to retrieve all other instances of SCP-XXXX at large.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a collective designation referring to a yet unconfirmed number of alpaca wool scarves of unknown origin. Newly-manifested instances (SCP-XXXX-A) can be seen in locations1 currently inhabited by an individual or a family who is an avid follower of tennis2. A small white business card accompanies each instance, reading:

You Have Been Invited!

Your passion for tennis has come to our attention. We are pleased to announce that you are cordially invited to join our "Killjoy Mute's Tennis Club"3!

Please be patient; our ushers shall be here to escort you shortly.

See you there!

Oh, and please try not to be too noisy! We are all gentle creatures, aren't we?

Within a space of 24 hours, the SCP-XXXX instance, business card and the victim disappear through unknown means (see video log).

Addendum XXXX.1: Discovery

Between January and April 2001, a total of 362 missing person cases were reported across the states, all of whom were within the target audience. However, these cases went unnoticed due to the lack of evidence of anomalous activity until the disappearance of Australian tennis professional player Jurek Wojtek4. At this point, Foundation agents intervened and noticed a consistency in terms of the victim receiving an instance of SCP-XXXX prior to their disappearance. Foundation assets began to log each incident related to SCP-XXXX.
