Special Containment Procedures:
Copies of SCP-XXXX are to be publicly available, and public consumption should be encouraged. The text should be made available via any form of media, with copies maintained online and freely available in as many languages as possible. Quotes should be included in media where possible. A department shall exist to write additions and variations to maintain public interest, subject to not altering the text far enough to negate it's anomalous effect.
Description:
SCP-XXXX is the book "Necronomicon Ex Mortis", by "Abdul Alhazared" (actual authorship unknown). The contents of the book are purely fictional, detailing fantastical tales and creatures similar to, but wholly unrelated to, actual anomalies. The contents of the book can be edited or added to, so long as they remain on-theme and at least 35% of the original text is left intact, without weakening or disabling the text's properties. Translations into other languages do not count toward this change limit, so long as they are reasonably accurate. Mentions of the text, even without direct contents, promotes the effect to a more limited extent, so it should be referenced in media even if direct quotes cannot be inserted.
Anyone who reads any significant portion of an SCP-XXXX text becomes infected by a meme. This meme will inhibit their ability to consciously register anomalous events (where anomalous refers to "resulting from anomalies", not normal unusual events). People effected will be able to look, listen, or peripherally experience anomalies without consciously reacting or otherwise acknowledging that anything abnormal is occurring near them. If presented directly with an anomaly, they will perceive it as normal and innocuous, so long as it does not directly effect them. This effect does not extend to direct contact or in case of sufficiently extreme events (see test logs). Exposure level is directly correlated to how effective the anti-meme is.
Anomalous entities are not effected by this meme. Persons who have prior exposure to anomalies are unaffected by this meme. Residents of Three Portlands are not effected by this meme (this is believed to be due to constant exposure to anomalies, rather than inherent).
Exposure to SCP-XXXX content after amnestic treatment has been shown to increase effectiveness.
Origin:
The original writer and point of origin of the text are unknown. The effect was noted during foundation recruitment during the 1920s, as new recruits would be unable to perceive anomalies or believe that they existed without direct exposure to extreme examples (articles doing direct harm to them or which are so obviously anomalous as to not possibly have a non-anomalous analogue). Upon discovery of the effect by the foundation, the text was already widely circulating. The apparent Author, █████████, was terminated to attempt to stem the spread of the work. It was later discovered that this was not the author and he was merely an early victim. After examination and testing, it was determined that dissemination would be advantageous to Foundation operations, and the identity of █████████ was created to reintroduce and spread relevant works.
Test log:
| Test # | subject | Notes |
| 000 | █████████ | Unofficial test: Employee being recruited to Foundation. Was noted as unable to perceive anything strange about SCP-██. Referred to psychological evaluation. Testing showed that he perceived all SCP objects presented as normal examples of their type. Upon viewing SCP-██, was shocked and appalled. Upon re-viewing previously viewed SCP objects, was quick to note anomalous properties. Investigation initiated. |
| 127 | D-1136 | Confirmation trial. Illiterate subject exposed to SCP-XXXX contents in audio form. Subject then showed no reaction to SCP-██. |
| 128 | D-1136 | Subject exposed to SCP-682. Subject showed no particular reaction to being in SCP-682's presence while it was restrained. When asked to describe it, subject stated he thought it might be a Komodo Dragon, as he had not seen a lizard of that size before and heard they were large. SCP-682 was released and commenced attacking him, at which point he reacted as if it had suddenly appeared from nowhere. Subject terminated. |
| 326-385 | D-85642 | Subject shown heavily edited copies of text, then exposed to SCP-██. After gauging reaction, subject amnestied. Effect only observed when at lest 35% of original text was present. |
| 386-392 | D-85672 | Subjects exposed to text contents integrated into other media. Full quotes showed full effects. Content containing elements purposefully drawn from the text showed weaker effects. References showed light but cumulative effects. 35% threshold confirmed, amnestic effectiveness enhancement noted. Content that is on-theme, but purposefully not "drawn from" SCP-XXXX, has no effect. |
| 522 | D-91586 D-11321 D-8561 D-5664 D-49876 D-16932 D-11752 |
Details of SCP-682 purposefully used to extend text. Effect noted. No enhancement of effect beyond normal levels with relation to SCP-682. Recommendation: no enhancement of obviousness effect is noted with using actual details of an SCP. Recommend returning to pure fictionalization for content extension. |
| 523 | D-11752 | Exposure to SCP-682 resulted in subject recalling details included in fictionalized SCP-XXXX extension. Recommendation: Once effect is countered, subjects can relate information in the text to experience. Avoid inclusion of accurate information as this may pose an info-hazard. |

Special Containment Procedures:
All efforts should be made to erase all copies and all text taken from, and all media quoting or referencing, SCP-XXXX. Due to the nature of SCP-XXXX, these efforts must be undertaken in strictest secrecy, including from any and all SCP foundation personnel not known to be inoculated.Description:

The contents of the book are purely fictional, detailing fantastical tales and creatures similar to, but wholly unrelated to, actual anomalies. Mentions of the text, even without direct contents, promotes the effect to a more limited extent, so even references to the text should be avoided at all times.
Anyone who reads any significant portion of an SCP-XXXX text shall become infected by a memetic virus. This virus is spread to anyone who reads the text, talks about the text, quotes the text, or reads works based on the text (so long as at least 35% of the original text is included in some manner in the course of cumulative lifetime exposure). References containing no actual contents do not spread this virus, but tend to lead to people reading the actual text.
Inoculation requires class D anti-memetic treatment or better. Viral exposure is not cured by amnestic exposure. Remediation after infection requires Class C anti-memetics or better.
Note: Due to saturation, 99.7% of the human population is currently exposed.
ADDENDUM:
Class omega memetic embeddingAll contents of this work have been found to contain a powerful meme. This meme has 2 effects:
1) Refusal to believe in the existence of this meme or impede distribution. Attempts to stop the practice of publicly distributing this work has been met with non-comprehension, vigorous opposition to "censorship", or, if all else fails, involuntary violence. Without anti-memetic treatment, both individuals and organizations will refuse to believe in the existence of any negative effect of this text, and will vehemently reject any attempts to censor it. Any recorded information regarding this will not be perceivable by the infected. Resistance to distribution will be met in the final resort with violence, to the point of lethal force, with any effected individuals in range not participating in the violence being unable to perceive it or its aftermath as anything other than accidental.
2) "Of course there is no such thing as vampires" The meme embeds this concept into the consciousness, making even those familiar with anomalies dismiss even the concept of Vampires as anything other than fictional out of hand. The embedding and spreading of this belief appears to be the primary purpose of the anti-meme.To date tests with anti-memetics have allowed individuals to be aware of the meme itself, and of it's effects, but thus far no individuals previously effected have been able to observe entitles that we would classify as "Vampires". It is likely that we have observed but are not aware of having observed "Vampires", as characteristics to look for in the actual, rather than fictional, species are unknown. Request has been submitted under false pretenses to increase Anti-Memetics division staffing.

Due to the total penetration of SCP-XXXX, this document will be stored on the SCP servers for reference by future workers, in the style of an SCP listing, for textual comparison purposes. Mendax object class has been intentionally left unused in foundation records, but remains in the database as "an anomaly that prevents knowledge of it's own existence". Heuristic matching is set to alert if an entry containing >10% similar information to the following document appears elsewhere in the database. If a similar entry or entry utilizing Medax classification appears elsewhere, contact O5-06. Additional notes in addendum.
Special Containment Procedures: (CASE A)
SCP-XXXX activity represents baseline reality. Inference would constitute an LK or ΩK scenario. Observation and noninterference is mandated.|Special Containment Procedures: (CASE B)
All SCP-XXXX instances are to be contained or terminated on discovery. Containment may be accomplished in a reinforced standard humanoid containment cell.|Description:
SCP-XXXX is a race of sentiovores, that are hidden within the global human population. They are not visually distinct from the general human population, although instances are noted to tend toward above average physical fitness and attractiveness. SCP-XXXX can interbreed with humans; children are invariably new SCP-XXXX instances, but will not show any indication of such until reaching approximately 16-17 years of age. At this point, physiological differences will begin to manifest. SCP-XXXX children tend to be raised by SCP-XXXX parents (without the participation of any human parent); single parents, either by divorce or death, are common in mixed parentage scenarios. Children who refuse to adapt to SCP-XXXX culture or are deemed "too human" are terminated.|
SCP-XXXX feed on humans, and will actively work to protect non-threatening humans as a food source. A large number are in the medical profession, both to allow them to maintain the health of a large "herd" of humans for themselves and others to feed on, to prevent humans from discovering any suspicious medical information concerning human health, and to treat their own members without revealing physiological differences.|
Humans being fed upon can live for between ~1 day and ~100 years (experiments have yielded between 110 and 120 years as a theoretical maximum). Overfeeding on an individual results in rapid death by aneurysm or heart attack, which is covered up by SCP-XXXX doctors as cancer or diseases so as not to arouse suspicion if clustered. SCP-XXXX in general will feed from large numbers of humans very lightly (typically 1000-10000 per SCP-XXXX instance). Effected humans experience memory loss, coordination loss, bodily degeneration, and confusion, commonly diagnosed as "aging". Feeding on those who are elderly (60+) is preferred, as senility and frailty are believed to be a natural effect of "age". Note that humans age to approximate physical prime (20-25 years) on their own; feeding before this point results in rapid death. Actual human life span without the influence of SCP-XXXX is unknown. Apparent extension of human life is linked to increased population of humans, which has allowed lower feeding rate per individual human, allowing for longer lifespan on average.|
SCP-XXXX feed on humans remotely via unknown means. To establish a connection to a human, they must consume some of the human's internal bodily fluids, including but not limited to: blood, lymph, cerebro-spinal fluid, Aqueous Humor. Fluids must be fresh (no more than 2 days removed from the body unless refrigerated; 1-2 weeks refrigerated). Once a link is established, it can be broken only by the death of the SCP-XXXX instance; if the link is broken, a new link can be established by having a different SCP-XXXX instance consume new fluids. Via infiltration of the healthcare industry, most humans are linked from birth using the excuse of medical tests at birth to acquire fluid.|
SCP-XXXX have invented and continue to reinforce the idea of "vampires" to deflect attention and as a mimetic hook for use with SCP-XXXX-A. "Vampire" traits, such as vulnerability to sunlight, inability to enter churches, etc. have been intentionally disseminated as a means to prevent detection. Instances "pass" these tests to remove suspicion. Promotion of the concepts of "demonic possession" have also been used to explain instances when sudden rapid feeding was needed, although more recently this has shifted to the onset of "unexplained" diseases. "Witch trials" and inquisitions have also been induced as a means to deflect public concern. Instances have been embedded in all exploratory expeditions in known human history, to ensure that any contacted unaffected human civilization is either destroyed, co-opted, or intentionally misunderstood so as to not reveal the differences in lifespan.|
The above disinformation campaigns have been mostly discontinued due to distribution of SCP-XXXX-A, which has rendered SCP-XXXX undetectable by humans. Monitoring of all scientific, medical, anomalous, and governmental research is ongoing.|
Addendum: CASE A is considered unlikely, but if this occurs negotiation may be possible. In the event of CASE B, any and all measures are authorized to reestablish concealment, including use of SCP-2000.|
Addendum: ██-██-19██
Project Corbenic is to be impeded by all means. Insertion of agents into Corbenic has demonstrated that feeding is possible only on native born entities, not reborn beings. Reality is rated as hostile. Avoid discovery by Three Moons at all cost.Addendum: ██-██-19██
A number of Anti-Mimetics organizations or branches of anomalous monitoring organizations have ceased to ever have existed. No human appears to have retained the ability to remember organizations or members of organizations ever existed. All implanted agents have also vanished, with supervisors reporting that they can remember that agents existed, but not their identities or details. Immediate investigation is called for.Addendum: ██-██-19██
