Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5XXX is to be under constant human surveillance behind a wall and window with a locked door that only trusted foundation personnel can enter. The entrance of the cave is to be guarded by two armed guards, unless orders require more. The forest near the cave is to be monitored by cameras in the area to prevent anyone from going near the caves and entering SCP-5XXX.

Description: SCP-5XXX appears to be a portal located in [REDACTED] with a cavern entrance that leads directly to it. It appears to be embedded into the wall and cannot be moved. SCP-5XXX measures approximately 1.8 meters wide while its height is currently unknown because each measure ends with a different result. It is theorized that SCP-5XXX takes the height of the person closest to it. SCP-5XXX doesn’t show up on any photographs or video recordings, leading some to theorize that SCP-5XXX is a “figment of our imagination”. Anyone that goes close to SCP-5XXX will have the sudden urge to enter the portal. It is reported that SCP-5XXX will say in a feminine voice to those closest to it “Come inside” or “Enter young one”, however it has also been reported that SCP-5XXX said “You don’t know what you're doing with your reality, do you” and “Would you like to try again”. These statements have yet to be proven by foundation personnel. It's unknown if SCP-5XXX is sapient. Animals appear to have the opposite reaction to SCP-5XXX. Dogs, cats, birds, and rats, all run away from the portal and prefer not to go near it. When someone enters SCP-5XXX, they will see themselves on a path with numerous other SCP-5XXX on each side (which will be referred as SCP-5XXX-1). Each SCP-5XXX-1 seems to hold a different reality depending on who looks at it. These alternate realities appear to be cheerful and full of happiness; an alternate reality that the person entering wants or perferes to their current reality/life. Any cameras or audio recordings that enter the portal only record static until the recordings exit the portal.

Test Log A - 2/3/19██:

Subject: A parrot was released near the portal.
Procedure: It landed in front of the portal and sat there for approximately 1.8 seconds before flying away back to where it was released.
Results: Two hours after the parrot was released, it started repeating the phrase “This is not meant for you, go away”, despite no personnel hearing the words.

Test Log B - 2/16/19██:

Subject: D-87361 was instructed to enter SCP-5XXX and report what he sees.
Results: D-87361 never returned.

Test Log C - 3/2/20██:

Subject: D-73091 and Dr. Stemends enter SCP-5XXX
Procedure: Dr. Stemends reports humming from a female voice when he entered the portal. D-73091 reports he hears his deceased wife humming.
Results: Dr. Stemends is the only one to return. He reports that he saw himself as an O5 council member, something he hopes he becomes one day. He also reports that D-73091 said he saw himself with his wife, alive and well. According to Dr. Stemends, D-73091 said “I'm sorry I killed you, I'm coming back” before entering SCP-5XXX-1. Dr. Stemends has been transferred to [DATA EXPUNGED] for questioning.

Test Log D- 5/1/20██:

Subject: D-90812 and D-89220, as well as two armed guards are to enter SCP-5XXX.
Procedure: Armed guards are two shoot and kill the D-Class if they enter any SCP-5XXX-1.
Results: Only one armed guard and D-89220 returned.

The following was an interview conducted by Dr. ████ with D-89220 and the Foundation guard 1 hour after they exited SCP-5XXX. Note that these interviews are only 5 minutes apart.

Dr. ████: So what did you see when you first entered the portal?

D-89220: I was on a road, I know this road. It's where I crashed my car and killed that family of 3 and my girl. It was just like that night. It was an exact copy of when my life turned shit!

Dr. ████: Calm down, just tell me what you saw. No need for explanation.

D-89220: There were portals like the one I entered, on each side of the road. They had different images with me in them. I liked them all, I wanted to go in. I was tempted to go in.

Dr. ████: What did you see?

D-89220: …

Dr. ████: D-89220, what did you see?

D-89220: I saw myself as a millionaire. I was in a mansion. I was rich. I had a wife, kids, I had it all I tell you! I.. had it all. But…

Dr. ████: But what?

D-89220: It was fake, at least I think it was fake. I don’t know. The other D-Class and the guard went into that portal. I don’t know if they saw the same thing, but they both went in without hesitation.

Dr. ████: Do you have any other detail you would like to share with us?

D-89220: I heard humming, soothing humming. It sounded like my girlfriend. God I miss that voice.

Guard: I was at my old home. It was during the hurricane that destroyed it. I was the only survivor. Anyways…, it was my hallway, but it was infinite. I can’t explain it. There were portals on each side showing different things, images about me.

Dr. ████: Can you tell me what you saw?

Guard: That's none of your business.

Dr. ████: We have to know. Your information is confidential and won’t be leaked to anyone.

Guard: I was with my ██████, they were █████. It was like the █████, never happened.

Dr. ████: Thank you. Did you hear any humming?

Guard: I heard my younger sister…

Closing statement: Subjects who enter SCP-5XXX will be transported into an environment that represents something negative that has happened in their life. This varies from person to person, however, all subjects would see SCP-5XXX-1 on each side with imagery that shows them a more positive reality. All subjects could hear humming of a female they cherish. It is unknown if it would be a different voice if a female subject is brought in. Awaiting confirmation from Foundation personnel to send in a female subject.

Test Log E- 6/7/20██:

Subject: Agent Amber and Dr.████ are to enter SCP-5XXX and travel as far as they can to see if there is an endpoint. Dr.████ is to record in his journal every 10 minutes on what is happening, and if anything important happens. Both have volunteered for this operation.
Procedure: Dr.████ successfully records what happens in his journal. Seep SCP-5XXX-E Exploration Log.
Results: Only Dr.████ returns, but his body has been reduced to a skeleton. His clothes and what items he had on him remain intact and unaffected.

The following was written in Dr.████ journal upon entering and before exiting the portal.
I have entered the portal with Agent Amber. I asked her if she heard any humming. She said she hears her daughter. This confirms that only a female voice that one cherishes can be heard. I myself hear my wife. It was so soothing. It made me feel safe, like nothing can hurt me here.

I have just realized my wrist watch was never working, as if time has no meaning here. I will have to record only events that happen.

Agent Amber said she saw herself with her dead husband. She almost walked in when I grabbed her arm and pulled her away. I had to tell her we have a job to do, we can’t enter any portals. She understood and we continued.

I paid no attention to the portals, only looked straight ahead. Eventually me and Agent Amber heard a slight tapping. It wasn’t too annoying, but we didn’t hear it when we first entered.

We can no longer see SCP-5XXX, only the SCP-5XXX-1 that watches us. The tapping is getting louder. Agent Amber wants to turn back and I had to convince her we have to keep going.

The tapping is annoying now. The portals aren’t as cheerful as when we went in. They are more bland, like normal life. I believe we have reached the midpoint.

Agent Amber and I both report that we heard the words “You chose this”. We don’t know what it means, but I think we are getting closer to the end.

Agent Amber asks me why we are here again. I had to explain to her about the mission, which you people should already know. She understands and countiunes.

The tapping is louder now, it's getting hard to breath. I have to keep telling myself, and Amber, that we have to keep going. I don’t give up, I don’t give up, and I won’t now.

We are seeing more screwed up portals. I saw myself get shot, Amber said she saw herself get kidnapped. What the hell is going on.

The tapping is very loud now, I can’t hear myself talk. I think Amber is losing her mind.

We can see it, the last portal. SCP-5XXX. I can see it. We have to go through, we have to get out of this nightmare.

I saw myself as D-Class getting killed by an SCP. I can’t identify which one it is, but my god it is gruesome.

Agent Amber isn’t talking to me anymore.

I think I'm going insane. I…

We are on our hands and knees now. I feel like I can’t breath, and the tapping, it's loud, it hurts. I have to get to that portal, I have to get out of here.

Agent Amber stands up, she starts saying “where is he, where is he”, it seems to echo around the walls, if there is any. She then starts saying, “where am I, let me out”. I go to tell her about the operation, but she jumps into one of SCP-5XXX-1. I looked into the portal and saw myself as a scientist. I was experimenting on an SCP, it looked humanoid, but I couldn't make it out. I don’t know why this one is here. The rest of the portals show negative images. Perhaps I will never know, I have to continue without Agent Amber.

The tapping is deafening loud, bumb bumb bumb, every second like something is chasing me. I turn around and nothing is there. I'm losing my mind.

I…I can barely write, I can barely move. I see the portal, I see SCP-5XXX. This is the last I'm writing, I'm going through.

Addendum: The skeleton does belong to Dr. ████. His journal will be sent to [REDACTED], for further study. Agent Amber has been reported missing. It is unknown if SCP-5XXX-1 sends its users to an alternate reality, or an alternate body in their current reality, or if they are simply reduced to a skeleton. Dr. ████ is to be replaced by his advisor, Dr. ███████, who will oversee SCP-5XXX. No one is allowed to enter SCP-5XXX without his permission.¹²
