Item #: SCP-5XXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5XXX-1 and SCP-5XXX-2 must stay in standard containment lockers at all time to prevent misuse. Objects will only be removed when testing continues.
Foundation A.I. are to be manned at all times to search the internet for cases of missing people who’re especially involved in video games, virtual reality technology, old video game consoles, etc. to find and record possible SCP-5XXX events of notability will be logged by the bots, and if in 8-11 months, an infant with details matching the recorded subject's, (including exact name, eye color, hair color, nationality, race, etc.) appears, Foundation personnel will be contacted to investigate. Additional SCP-1 and -2 instances found will be contained in the same manner as the existing SCP-1 and -2 instances.
If at any moment a new pair of similarly anomalous SCP-2 and -3 instances are found, anyone who's ever heard the victim's name or seen them must be given Class-A amnestics, anyone who's observed it’s affects, or have been acquainted with the victim must be given Class B amnestics, and the parents and relatives of the victim Class C amnestics. All traces of the victim’s existence in the local town must be wiped, including but not limited to year books, photographs, or newspaper headlines. All legal cases dealing with or about the victim, or even with the victim as a key witness or in the jury must have their names edited and replaced with a random person's name. With more modern cases, social media must also be checked and wiped similarly.
Description: SCP-5XXX is an anomalous that event occurs by the powering and use of both SCP-5XXX-1 and SCP-5XXX-2 which causes the user to disappear instantaneously. When the user dissapears, a vacuum is left in their place, causing a loud "boom" noise of 143 dB and small hearing damage to those nearby. 9 months later, an SCP-5XXX-3 instance matching the user by name and genetically will reappear as an infant in a hospital.
SCP-5XXX-1 is a Nintendo Virtual Boy with the stand and controller with minor wear. Games compatible with non-anomalous Virtual Boy Consoles aren't compatible with SCP-5XXX-1, which only runs SCP-5XXX instances. Any SCP-5XXX-1 instance can run any SCP-5XXX-2 instances, and vice versa. All headsets found after identified SCP-5XXX events have shown damage from falling.
SCP-5XXX-2 is a Virtual Boy cartridge titled, Pre-Birth Blast!, and subtitled, Re-Experience Your Conception In 3-D!. The image on the cartridge shows an infant (1-2 weeks) wearing a Virtual Boy console while raising his hands in the air in two thumbs up. SCP-5XXX-2 is written to be manufactured by Nintendo Corp., but all Nintendo Officials deny production of any cartridges, and no copyright was made on the title during the Virtual Boy's lifespan. All cartridges found after identified SCP-5XXX events have shown damage from falling.
It is currently unknown whether found instances of SCP-2 and -3 were always anomalous, or became anomalous, and it is unknown whether newer Virtual Reality headsets could become anomalous. Both of these however are strongly suspected possibilities by Foundation researchers.
