Item#: SCP-4047

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: There is currently no known way to contain or suppress SCP-4769. SCP-4047 is to be monitored by at least nine (9) Level 4 Personnel at all times. It is to be regularly transported between five (5) Foundation approved sites, those being Site-███ Site-███ , Site-███ , Site-███ , and Site-███. Transportation is to occur on a monthly basis via helicopter and to prevent intervention from SCP-4047-3.1

Should Contamination Event occur on-site or in a civilian setting, MTF Beta-7 ("Maz Hatters") are to be dispatched to the area and immediately terminate all instances of SCP-4047-1 on sight. Retrieval of SCP-4047 should not be attempted until at least seven (7) hours after a contamination event.

Unaffected personnel and civilians are to be administered Class-X Amnestics and assigned to low-stress activities (i.e. janitorial duties, and file management) and should be closely monitored to reduce the likelihood of a containment breach should they begin transformation.

SCP-4047-3 is mostly uncontainable, but it is to never come in contact with SCP-4047 under any circumstances.2

Description: SCP-4047 is a 24cm by 30cm painting of a small girl presumably letting go of a balloon, with a silver and tungsten filigree antique frame. What the painting portrays is widely thought to be insignificant, but this is sometimes disputed. SCP-4047 is assumed indestructible, as it shows little to no wear even though it was first recovered by the Foundation in the year 19██, and recovered once more in 20██. It has been seen to survive all attempts to destroy it.

SCP-4047 seems to activate at random, but it does seem to activate more often when within ten (10) feet of a human or other living being. When activated, SCP-4047 emits purple, gas-like fumes that seem to home-in on living beings from an infinite distance. They have also been reported to smell of "rotten almonds". These fumes seem to quickly corrode all inorganic material they come in contact with, thus making effective containment near impossible.

Upon inhalation of said fumes, they liquiefy and resolidify inside the host's boy, turning into fetus-like entities, hereby designated SCP-4047-2. Each entity is no larger than a white blood cell, with numbers varying between 35 and 465, depending on the amount of fumes inhaled. The entities first travel to the hosts spine, taking full control of the host's movements.3

Once this has happened, approximately half of the entities then move to the host's heart, where they [DATA EXPUNGED], causing extreme pain, and use the blood vessels to travel throughout the host's body, colonizing the entire body. All of this occurs in exactly forty-two (42) seconds. Approximately two (2) minutes after this occurs, the host has fully transformed into an instance of SCP-4047-1.

Once the transformation has finished, there are no visible changes except for the hosts constant screaming due to the excruciating pain it is experiencing, and extreme aggression. All instances of SCP-4047-1 seem to have greatly enhanced strength, approximately 4-5 times that of a normal human, and are impervious to all forms of damage excluding firearms, intense heat, and [DATA EXPUNGED]. When wounded, SCP-4047-1 instances will not bleed regular blood, but rather a dark blue sludge that is molecularly similar to the fumes that SCP-4047 emits.4 SCP-4047-1 entities are extremely aggressive to all forms of life, including other SCP's, and will stop at nothing to destroy all nearby life forms, or convert any life form strong enough to undergo a transformation. SCP-4047-1 instances has been seen to convert other life forms through [DATA EXPUNGED]. After all life forms in the initial area have been either killed or converted, all converted beings gather into a large pile in a random area until another living being comes into the vicinity.

When an animal or other non-human entity inhales the fumes, they become completely catatonic. Their blood pressure rises exponentially until they eventually explode, releasing more of the fumes into the air. The exact process of transformation in non-human entities is still unknown due to the danger of attempting an in-depth analysis. Plants are unaffected. Note that, from the time they begin transformation to the moment hosts expire, they are completely capable of vocalization, and are not mentally impaired in any way.

Strangely, if the amount of fumes inhaled exceeds a certain threshold, SCP-4047-2 entities will not form for much longer than otherwise, usually around a decade after the initial inhalation. Individuals in which this circumstance manifests are deemed Asymptomatic and are demoted to common work.

Discovery: SCP-4047 was initially discovered during an investigation into the murder of six (6) women and seventeen (17) men at a brothel in █████, ██████. During the investigation SCP-4047 was taken to the █████ Forensics Department as evidence, before a second activation, effectively killing everyone in the area before Foundation operatives were able to retrieve it. The arifact was then lost due to a Contamination event at Site-███, and later recovered at a pawn shop in downtown █████ after a small contamination event had killed one (1) and grievously injured three (3) others. It is currently in circulation between five different sites, as listed in the Special Containment Procedures.

There have been many contamination evemts since it came into Foundation hands, resulting in the deaths of over ████ Foundation personnel.

Follwing the Incident, Keter re-classification is being considered.
