CONTAINMENT PROTOCOLS REVISION 22; LAST UPDATED: December 16, 202█
With the help of world-known nobel laureate and physiology expert Dr. Steven [REDACTED] and major neurologist Professor Karen [REDACTED], the wide public now recognizes SCP-4XXX as an official neurological disorder. It is now defined as an "Hyperactive Persistent Vegetative State" or simply put "hyperactive coma".
Due to that fact, modern doctors are simply unaware of "hyperactive coma" being anomalous or supernatural; this effectively disguises SCP-4XXX's true nature from the public world, yet SCP-4XXX cannot be contained at this time.
// In the exceedingly rare event that a victim of SCP-4XXX does exit said coma, it is designated "SCP-4XXX-NEU".//
Doctors taking care of SCP-4XXX-NEU instances should alert nearby foundation personnel using a foundation-ran institude called "APRU" or "Advanced Physical Recovery Union" which is a "company" that gives the "best physical recovery treatment in the world for hypercoma survivors".
SCP-4XXX-NEU instances are to be documented and monitored immediately. Each unique instance is to be allowed 2 months of normal physical recovery in a comfortable hospital that offers such, and only then be brought into Site-██ by any means.
Be advised: SCP-4XXX-NEU instances are non-anomalous and should not be treated as such. However, their experience having survived SCP-4XXX is an extremely valuable asset and the only one that can be used to attempt to understand SCP-4XXX's manifestion process and eventually contain it.
While in Site-██, all SCP-4XXX-NEU instances are under the strict supervision of Head Researcher Aizek.
Description:
SCP-4XXX is an uncontagious neurological anomaly that appears to only affect humanoid-type brains. Whatever causes SCP-4XXX to manifest within a victim is still largely unknown due to the extreme lack of survivors.
Pre-symptoms of SCP-4XXX can't be determined at this time; SCP-4XXX most certainly manifests at once at an unpredictable time frame. After that, the victim will enter a physical state that is very similar to a Persistent Vegetative State. Any attempts to force victims out of the prolonged state of unconsciousness have failed miserbly.
What grants SCP-4XXX its anomalous recognition is it causes neurons in the brain to fire at an exceptional rate for the duration, which is abnormal for the usual coma patients. In addition, some SCP-4XXX patients display various abilities while unconscious as:
- Speak uncontexted and somewhat incomprehensible words.
- Open their eyes and look around, unconsciously.
- Attempting to perform a walk - almost like sleepwalking.
- Scratching various objects with its nails during said "sleepwalking".
- Attempting to commit self-inflicted injury by scratching itself using its own nails.
While patients are in the deep state of the said coma, it is described by survivors as a "Unique Traumatic Dream Sequence" that is indistiguishable from reality. SCP-4XXX seems to be unique for each victim based on experiences, locations, characters, events, items, objects, etc that the victim has consciously or sub-consciously interacted with atleast once in their life.
Addendum 4XXX-001: "MANIFESTATION THEORIES"
Theories about SCP-4XXX's manifestation range from a type of genetic defect to even the tinkering and altering various biological SCPs by foundation personnel or other GoI personnel. Interestingly, diagnosis of SCP-4XXX in the last 10 years has risen by 67% but still remains a small amount:
Corrently, only 134 SCP-4XXX-2 instances ever existed. 9█ of these survivors have commited suicide somewhat after being released from foundation custody. 92.5% of survivors show symptoms of various mental illnesses - mostly Chronic Depression. Some even display symptoms of additional mental illnesses such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder with 4.76% of these having a previous history of being mentaly ill.
