The Infinite booth
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: Item is currently contained in the cafeteria of site XX. The floor underneath SCP-XXXX has been reinforced to support the possibility of extreme weight and pressure created by increased occupancy.
Children (humans under the age of 18) should not enter SCP-XXXX. This is due to possible resistance of the child from exiting.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a half circle seating booth of approximate external dimensions 2.5m wide x 1.1m tall x 3m deep. The internal dimensions are impossible to accurately measure, due to the nature of SCP-XXXX. The table is affixed to the seating via metal foot extensions. SCP-XXXX is upholstered in a similar fashion to American Tables & Seating AS-423-1/2 3 Channel Back Upholstered Corner Booth.
The interior upholstery is similar to the commercially available model, however the pattern appears to induce a mild state of influence on the viewer. This influence causes the viewer to lose focus of the booth if no one is currently sitting in it. The influence of the upholstery will change the perception of the people sitting in the booth. A person viewing the booth will see the person they seek to sit next to (if that person is currently in the booth) sitting on the end of the booth, with room for the viewer to sit next to them. Once a person sits in SCP-XXXX they will instantly be next to all the other individuals whom they wish to speak to be near (whom are seated in SCP-XXXX, no matter the available space, or the seating arrangement of the person in SCP-XXXX. Should a person seated in SCP-XXXX wish to speak or see an individual already seated in SCP-XXXX they will appear near them. If a person wishes to see or speak to an individual who is not seated in SCP-XXXX then they will appear at the edge, providing them a view of the cafeteria to seek the individual the wish to see or speak to.
If a person decides to leave SCP-XXXX, they will instantly appear at the end of SCP-XXXX and be able to leave without issue.

SCP-XXXX came to the attention of the Foundation when agents embedded at Benedictine College (due to other anomalies previously found on campus) alerted the Foundation of a new game that students were playing in the on campus pub, The Monte Cassino Inn. In the pub, a booth had been replaced due to irreparable damage to the original. A new booth appeared the next day on the shipping dock.
The game with the new booth was to see how many people could fit into the booth. Agents became aware of the game after nearly 200 students were apparently seated in the booth. This was nearly 15% of the current population of the school.
Agents isolated and performed initial testing on site. Discovering the anomalous status, the agents had the Foundation collect the booth.

There is no (discovered) limit to the number of people that can be seated in SCP-XXXX simultaneously. Foundation testing has had up to 12345 D-Class personnel seated in SCP-XXXX, nearly all available D-Class personnel at the time of testing. Testing on maximum occupancy of SCP-XXXX was halted when the floor underneath SCP-XXXX began to sag and show signs of fatigue. Also local gravitational effects of the large amount of concentrated mass started to show an effect on the testing area. Hanging lights started to lean towards SCP-XXXX and liquids started to show gather towards the sides of containers near SCP-XXXX.
No matter the number of individuals seated inside SCP-XXXX, there is always a comfortable amount of space for each individual available. Interviews with the D-Class personnel involved in the testing stated that they never felt cramped or compressed. Although, since most of the D-Class personnel did not know each other, many felt lonely or bored during the testing. However, these feelings began to subside for those personnel involved in multiple testing rounds. This is likely due to them meeting and conversing with other D-Class while waiting or while seated inside SCP-XXXX.
Being seated is apparently an important part of the effect of SCP-XXXX. Should an individual attempt to stand, they will be immediately exited from SCP-XXXX. This is not forceful, but resembles the individual simply standing to exit from the end. Attempting to climb on top of the table results in the individual falling off of the end of the table and exiting SCP-XXXX.
Children (humans under the age of 18) should not enter SCP-XXXX, this is due to the possibility of the child not wanting to sit near a parent, or possibly want to talk to other individuals and becoming ‘lost’. The child can be retrieved if either of two things occur:
1) All other humans exit SCP-XXXX then with only one individual left in SCP-XXXX the child can be retrieved.
2) A parent (or guardian) exits SCP-XXXX and then desires to sit next to the child, more than the child desires to NOT sit next to the parent (or guardian).
Option 2 seems very subjective, therefore option 1 is easier. This is inconvenient, and can be difficult to accomplish during peak meal times. There is no direct danger to a child in SCP-XXXX, it is simply not recommended.

Cleaning and repairing the table and upholstery does not seem to be necessary. Although the table and upholstery can be damaged, it appears to reset or repair itself after a short period of time. Spills or messes create by food in SCP-XXXX appear to clean themselves. The spill or mess appears to be absorbed directly into SCP-XXXX. It is hypothesized that SCP-XXXX uses this matter to repair itself or to maintain its effects.

There is no apparent internal mechanism inside the seating. Attempting to open and view the inside of the seating from the outside results in a penetrating darkness seeming to seep from SCP-XXXX where the cut or damage was performed. These openings heal very quickly through an unknown means.

Intentionally damaging SCP-XXXX while seated inside SCP-XXXX will result in the individual being forcibly ejected from SCP-XXXX. This is in proportion to the damage inflicted on SCP-XXXX. Damage testing addendum has the records of attempts made.

Damage testing addendum:
Test 1:
Implement: Knife
Location: Seat Exterior, Along vertical seam
A 20cm incision was made along the seam, by D-10321. The incision immediately started exuding an inky darkness that began to penetrate the surrounding area of both the surface of SCP-XXXX and into the open air surrounding the incision. After 5 minutes, the darkness began to recede after reaching approximately 5cm on all sides of the incision. After a total of 10 minutes, the darkness had receded completely and the incision was completely healed.

Test 2:
Implement: Knife
Location: Seat Exterior, Along vertical seam
A 20cm incision was made along the seam, by D-10321, identical to test 1. D-Class was then instructed to place hand into the darkness and penetrate the surface of SCP-XXXX. Subject inserted hand into the incision and described the sensation as a cold numbness. Almost as if his hand had reached into a refrigerator and then went numb. When asked to move his fingers D-10321 stated that he would try to move them but could not determine if he was actually moving them. Subject was instructed to remove his hand from the incision. Upon removal, sensation returned to the hand and was not anomalous in any way. The darkness swelled while the subject’s hand was in the incision, but receded to previous levels upon removal.

Test 3:
Implement: Knife
Location: Seat Exterior, Along vertical seam
A 20cm incision was made along the seam, by D-10321, identical to test 1 and 2. D-Class was then instructed to place hand into the darkness and penetrate the surface of SCP-XXXX. Subject inserted hand into the incision and described the sensation as a cold numbness. Almost as if his hand had reached into a refrigerator and then went numb. When asked to move his fingers D-10321 stated that he would try to move them but could not determine if he was actually moving them, identical to test 2. Subject was told to keep his hand in the incision for the duration of the test. The darkness swelled as in test 2. This time the darkness took 12 minutes to recede and the incision to heal. As the darkness receded the D-Class indicated a strange tingling in his hand. Once the darkness had fully receded and the incision had healed, the D-Class removed his arm from the surface of SCP-XXXX. His hand was missing, but there was no traditional wound. A thick scar tissue had formed in place on the end of the forearm. Subject reacted violently and was immediately terminated. Autopsy revealed no anomalous structure to the amputation. Further testing for possible use as a painless amputation method is necessary.

Test 4:
Implement: Knife
Location: Seat Exterior, Along vertical seam
A 40cm incision was made along the seam, by D-10658, similar to tests 1-3. Subject was then instructed to insert his head into the incision. Upon fully passing into the darkness, D-10658 lost consciousness. Before D-10658’s mouth passed beyond the surface of SCP-XXXX, he stated that it was cool in temperature and was making him “woozy”. Researchers pulled D-10658 out of the incision to prevent premature termination of the subject. After 10 minutes, the darkness began to recede after reaching approximately 5cm on all sides of the incision. After a total of 22 minutes, the darkness had receded completely and the incision was completely healed. Darkness penetration appears proportional to size of the incision and to amount of matter inserted. Subject regain consciousness after an hour.

Test 5:
Implement: Knife
Location: Seat Exterior, Along vertical seam
A 40cm incision was made along the seam, by D-10658, identical to test 4. Subject was then instructed to insert his head into the incision. Upon fully passing into the darkness, D-10658 lost consciousness, again. Researchers rolled D-10658 on his side to prevent premature termination of the subject, and monitored vitals of subject. Researchers allowed the incision to heal over the course of 30 minutes. Similar to test 3, the head was severed and life functions ceased after shortly thereafter. Autopsy revealed similar structure to the amputated arm of D-10321.
“Perhaps we should try remote drone equipment before wasting more D-Class on this experiment.”

Test 6:
Implement: Knife
Location: Seat Exterior, Along vertical seam
A 40cm incision was made along the seam, by a researcher. A snake camera was inserted into the incision. It recorded nothing, no light, no radiation and no contact with other surfaces. Approximately 150m was fed into the incision, with no contact reported by sensors. Incision healed over the course of 33minutes and contact was lost with the snake camera.
“That was an expensive camera. 05-AB is not going to be happy about the request for another.”

Test 7:
Implement: Knife
Location: Seat Exterior, Along vertical seam
A 40cm incision was made along the seam, by a researcher. A quadcopter drone was inserted into the incision. Sensors on the drone indicated a constant downward acceleration, despite attempts to fly upwards. Cameras reported no visual response and no other sensors detected anything. After 5 minutes of falling, contact was lost with the drone. The incision healed as normal.
“So apparently there is just an infinite nothing inside. Maybe we could use it for efficient disposal of trash…”
“Maybe we could finally be rid of SCP-682.”
“The last thing we need is to give SCP-682 an unlimited amount of time to heal and adapt. We just don’t know what happens in there.”

Test 7:
Implement: Knife
Location: Seat Exterior, Flat Open Area
A 70cm diameter hole is cut in the back of SCP-XXXX. The flap created by the cutting is pulled inward to the interior of SCP-XXXX. D-10879 was instructed to hold onto and remove the circle from the cut. As the D-Class finished the cut, the pull inwards of the removed piece was enough to pull the D-Class fully into the hole. Apparently he could not let go of the piece. Once the D-Class disappeared the darkness swelled to approximately 30cm beyond the edge of the damage. Directly observing the darkness caused perceptual problems in researchers. They were unable to look at it directly and could not report on what they saw. The damage took about an hour to repair.
“It was like trying to look at nothing. There was nothing to look at or focus on, nothing, just nothing.”

Test 8:
Implement: Small Shaped Charge
Location: Seat Exterior, in flat open area
SCP-XXXX was placed in a blast chamber and a remotely activated shaped charge explosive was detonated. Damage to SCP-XXXX was extensive but not complete. All electronic remote observation equipment failed at the time of detonation. Direct observation of the event proved impossible as the Darkness consumed all visible areas in the blast chamber. Eventually the darkness receded and SCP-XXXX appeared fully repaired after 28hours.
“Let’s not try anything bigger, we don’t want that darkness consuming the entire facility.”

Test 9:
Implement: Knife
Location: Interior seat of SCP-XXXX
Subject, D-10487, instructed to cut the seat. Immediately upon intentionally damaging the seat of SCP-XXXX subject was forcibly ejected from SCP-XXXX. Subject described the incident as being “kicked by a horse” as he was ejected. No darkness was observed, but no damage could be found on the seat moments later.

Test 10:
Implement: Knife
Location: Interior table surface of SCP-XXXX
Subject, D-10487, instructed to stab the table surface. Immediately upon intentionally damaging the seat of SCP-XXXX subject was forcibly ejected from SCP-XXXX. Subject described the incident as being “kicked by a horse, again” as he was ejected. No darkness was observed, but no damage could be found on the table surface moments later. Identical to previous test.

Test 11:
Implement: Fork
Location: Interior Seat of SCP-XXXX
Researcher ‘accidentally’ drops fork next to D-10487. D-10487 eventually sits on fork and punctures the seat surface. Subject was then forced out of the end of SCP-XXXX. Described this time as a forceful but not painful push out of SCP-XXXX.

Test 12:
Implement: Backpack containing a remotely triggered grenade
Location: Interior Seat of SCP-XXXX
Subject D-10487 was instructed to take the backpack into SCP-XXXX. Subject was served lunch, then the backpack was remotely detonated. D-10487 was thrown from SCP-XXXX at approximately 9000m/s (exceeding the speed of the explosion by approximately 10%). High speed photography appears to indicate that subject D-10487 was ejected at the same moment as the explosion was triggered, and that D-10487 survived the explosion. Subject did not survive the impact with the blast chamber wall. Darkness was briefly visible on the interior of SCP-XXXX,but was gone after 5 minutes.
“I don’t think we should do that again, or increase the explosive yield. Also, it appears that the interior is capable of healing much faster than the exterior.”
