Item #: SCP-XXXX (The Delete Button)

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-XXXX must always remain in a locked metal box. SCP-XXXX will remain at secure facility Site-121, located in Antarctica. Admittance to the facility is authorized to only personnel with Security Clearance 3 or higher. Any personnel that must be within the sphere of influence(100m) must wear a beta-wave blocker device upon the head and must only have exposure to SCP-XXXX for not more than 3 minutes at a time. Exposure to SCP-XXXX must be limited to visual research only and at no time should the button be pressed (See SCP-XXXX Research Test Document 1966-014).

If the button of SCP-XXXX is pressed, the individual that pressed the button instantaneously disappears without a trace along with any individual that they had physical contact with at any point in their life. The impact is severe depending on the age and social activity of the individual. The impact could create catastrophic events that lead to massive traffic accidents, plane crashes and multiple reports of missing persons thus critically clogging the law enforcement infrastructure. The whereabouts of those that are affected by the button push is completely unknown.

Furthermore, at the time of the button press, as the individual vanishes, so does the box. It also instantaneously teleports to another location within the world waiting for another individual to locate it. Containment is absolutely critical.

Description:
SCP-XXXX is a small wooden square box with a small circular red button on its top. The box itself has burned engravings that are of an unknown origin but appears to be similar to Mayan glyphs. The box itself measures 3.0in on all sides and is 2.0in tall. The button is red in color and is a circle with a 1.5in diameter. The entire box weighs exactly 11.4oz. Unknown markings are located on all sides, including the bottom and top as well as located on the button itself. Markings appear to extend over the bends of the box indicating extreme precision in the placement of the markings. Markings appear to have been made by a hot object, however tests show that no heat has been introduced to the wood. The type of wood used is also of unknown origin due to no know species of plant located on earth that it could be derived.

Additional Notes:
Due to the marking’s likeness to Mayan glyphs, researchers believe that this was possibly made by the Mayans. It is unknown as to why the Mayans may have created such a device but it is believed that the device could be responsible for the disappearance of the Mayan civilization as well as the possible demise of the Roanoke Colony disappearance in NC in 1590.

SCP-XXXX was discovered by a Foundation researcher that was walking in a park near Nashville, TN (See Discovery Notes of Dr. ██████ Document 1966-008).

Addendum 1:
Button testing procedures discontinued after initial test. Containment procedures were immediately implemented, and visual research has only been authorized by Dr. ████████████ . Exposure was initially set to 5 minutes, but it was discovered that the beta-wave blocker equipment was not able to adequately prevent the compulsory effect of SCP-XXXX. Multiple researchers had to be physically detained to prevent them from pushing the button. It has since been discovered that 3 minutes is the limit of the device’s protection from the effects. There are no known long-term consequences of SCP-XXXX effect on the brain, however, those researchers that were physically detailed can be seen on video occasionally walk by the containment room and stare in the direction of SCP-XXXX. Those researchers don’t seem to have an explanation as to why this occurs considering they are outside of the sphere of influence at the time of the occurrence.

Addendum 2:
After the initial button test disappearance, SCP-XXXX was located in Baratpur, Nepal by a Foundation Mobile Task Force Operative looking into reports of strange feelings around a secluded region of the village. SCP-XXXX was retrieved and containment protocols were immediately conducted to return it to Site-38. A new facility(Site-121) is currently under construction in Antarctica to contain SCP-XXXX.
