Item#: SCP-5595

Object Classification: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: Due to the physical nature of SCP-5595, the most efficient form of containment is a widespread warning of SCP-5595 and its symptoms. Foundation Staff are to report experiences that may relate to early stages of SCP-5595 to medical personnel as soon as possible, and the necessary precautions are to be taken [See below].

When an affected subject of SCP-5595 is recorded, they are to be sedated and examined by SCP-5050 to confirm the presence of SCP-5595. If SCP-5595 is confirmed, the affected subject is to be routinely monitored for different, depressed or suicidal behaviors until the presence of SCP-5595 is no longer detected. Affected subjects are to be given a variable dosage of antidepressants bi-weekly in an attempt to mitigate the effects of SCP-5595.

Description: SCP-5595 refers to an anomalous mental condition found in all entities within Foundation custody. This includes, but may not be limited to:

  • Foundation Staff
  • Foundation Visitors
  • Foundation Administrative Staff
  • SCP Items
  • Any other entities that may be involved in Foundation affairs

SCP-5595 displays one main symptom, in which an affected subject will begin conversing with an unidentified entity that is believed to be a cognition resulted from SCP-5595. Due to the frequent manifestation of this entity/symptom, it has been designated SCP-5595-1.

  1. A subject that develops SCP-5595 will experience conversing with an unidentified entity, believed to be SCP-5595-1, in their dreams. These dreams often mark the first stages of SCP-5595
  2. Subject report seeing SCP-5595-1 (with a varying appearance amongst cases) in unordinary spots; behind windows, in the corners of rooms, behind them, etc…
  3. Subject will report SCP-5595-1 initiating conversation. Many instances first report SCP-5595 being cheerful, sarcastic and humorous in tone. This phase often involved pleasantries such as greetings and introductions.
  4. SCP-5595-1 will begin to attempt to drive the affected subject insane through any means possible. It is believed that once at this phase, SCP-5595 is incurable.

SCP-5595-1 allegedly stops manifesting once the affected subject has committed suicide or been cured of SCP-5595. The methods SCP-5595-1 use often depend on what subject has been affected. After phase 3, SCP-5595-1 shows an advanced knowledge of the memories and subconscious thoughts of the affected subject, often using that against them. SCP-5595 has shown to be capable of manifesting in more than one target, which means that there is a possibility that SCP-5595 could become widespread.

Curing often involves the usage of anomalies, such as SCP-500 or mind-affecting anomalies such as SCP-5050 and SCP-953 (usage of SCP-953 is strongly restricted and all subjects seen attempting this are to be detained immediately). In rare cases, subjects are often seen turning to SCP-[REDACTED] for assistance. This method will result in detainment and possible demotion.

Addendum 5595.1:
Note:

In almost 100% of SCP-5595 related cases, the subject has been seen attempting to convince SCP-5595 to leave, or often physically reacting toward SCP-5595. Do not attempt this. Physical aggression is what this thing wants you to try; it makes you look like an idiot, which makes you feel like an idiot. 5595 wants you to feel pain. It is not human. It is not alive. Its sole purpose is to kill you, and nothing else. It cannot be reasoned with. It cannot be driven away willingly. If you kill yourself, you'll be putting this burden onto someone else.

- Doctor [REDACTED], a survivor of SCP-5595.
