The skull and jaw of SCP-XXXX removed for photography.
Item #: XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be placed on-top of an observation stand in the centre of its chamber and surrounded by a 2x2 meter reinforced plexiglass security fence. SCP-XXXX's containment chamber is to be equipped with CCTV surveillance capability and a security door. Under no circumstances should personnel enter within 2 meters of SCP-XXXX, or similarly pass the security fence. Personnel who are psychologically incapacitated by SCP-XXXX are to be considered unrecoverable, and are to be terminated.
Description: SCP-XXXX is the corpse of an unidentified human Caucasian male that appears to be in the late stages of decomposition. The components of the corpse include the skull and lower mandible, the right femur and the spine – including all vertebrae. Such components are assembled in a pile and held together by an adhesive substance that consists of coagulated blood and other biotic material. Notably, a section in the right hemisphere of the cranium is absent from the skull. It has been suggested subsequent to an autopsy of the corpse that the sustained cranial damage could have resulted in the death of SCP-XXXX. Radiometric dating of the bones gives them an approximate age of ███ years. Subjects1 who enter a radius of 2 meters originating from SCP-XXXX experience auditory and visual hallucinations – most commonly including unintelligible whispering and interpretation of the surrounding area to be made completely of biotic material, such as muscle and blood. Extended exposure to SCP-XXXX’s anomalous properties eventuates in the breakdown of the psychological condition, and subsequently results in a state of schizophrenic incapacitation. Subjects who reach this state cannot be recovered by any means.
Subsequent autopsy of subjects incapacitated by SCP-XXXX has revealed the development of a black malignancy (dissimilar from a regular tumor) approximately 42 millimetres in diameter, found in the primary sensory cortex of the brain. CT scans have indicated that the development of such malignancies are immediate, appearing to materialise into reality by an unknown phenomenon. Research suggests that these malignancies directly correspond to SCP-XXXX's hallucinogenic properties. Surgical attempts to remove the malignancy have resulted in the death of the subject in 100% of cases.
Subjects who are incapacitated by SCP-XXXX are commonly observed to have episodes of violent screaming, and frequently become aggressive towards others. Subjects are also noted to have extremely degenerated motor function, possibly as a result of damage to the sensory cortex.
Addendum XXXX-1. Object Recovery:
SCP-XXX was discovered when Foundation agents inserted into the Downtown ███████████ Police Department who were investigating the suspicious death of ████ ██████
- a local homeless man who reportedly fell from the top storey of a condemned parking complex. Agents ████████ and ███ incidentally found SCP-XXXX at the bottom of an open elevator shaft crushed underneath concrete rubble – however still largely intact. Both agents were consequently exposed to SCP-XXXX’s phenomenon and later [DATA EXPUNGED] resulting in the deaths of both agents and 1 civilian passerby.
Addendum XXX-2. Surgical Competence Test:
TEST LOG A-XXXX-1: On ██/██/████ at 9:30 am.
Subject: D-6285. 37 year old Caucasian male, no previous record of neurological disease.
Background: Subject was subjected to SCP-XXXX for ~10 minutes, and had become increasingly schizophrenic. Additionally, subjects motor functions were extremely degenerated. CT scans of the primary sensory cortex indicated a large malignancy approximately 42 millimetres in diameter, corresponding to documented phenomenon.
Operation: Specialised neurosurgeons were able to remove the malignancy during a high risk operation with minimal complications. Subject was stabilised and increasingly began to recover. Moreover, subsequent assessments indicated a return of normal motor function. Irregardless of this success, approximately 10 days post operation, D-6285 suffered a massive hemorrhagic stroke and consequently expired. The cause of the stroke is currently unknown, however SCP-XXXX possibly [DATA EXPUNGED].
Notes:
I thought we had it in the bag. What a damn shame.
