Item #: SCP-11281

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: [Paragraphs explaining the procedures]

Description: Instances of SCP-1128-Alpha are images or videos depicting a cognitohazardous aquatic predator, hereafter referred to as SCP-1128-1. SCP-1128-Alpha's appearance varies depending on the depiction of the entity, and as of 6/08/12, ██ instances of SCP-112-Alpha (and therefore depictions of SCP-1128-1) have been discovered and redacted by O5 Command. All depictions of SCP-1128-1 trigger a memetic effect on witnesses of said instances. When infected, most subjects exhibit no abnormal behavior, although some cases show a general aversion involving bodily submersion in water, such as bathing or swimming. Should subjects ever become fully submerged in the water, they will disappear completely under the surface of the fluid, regardless of its actual depth.

In most cases, subjects will return moments later in a panicked state and frantically attempt to leave the water under any means necessary, although rare instances show that either blood and debris confirmed to be the remains of the subject would surface up from the water, or the lifeless, intact body of the subject would emerge2. Subjects that remain intact claim that once they had been fully submerged in water, their view would slowly fade away and blur into a vast, empty ocean. Subjects claim that they were approximately 5-13 meters below the surface3, and upon gazing upwards, the location they were previously in could be seen in a specific area, hereafter referred to as SCP-1128-2.

SCP-1128-2 is a 2-dimensional, circular, one-way "gateway" to the subject's previous aquatic location, usually a bathtub or swimming pool, spanning a 12-inch diameter in size. Beyond the gateway lies the surface to the body of water subjects would currently be in (see Addendum 1128.2). Subjects claim that they would have to enter the gateway in order to return to the area where they had submerged in water, although some cases state that environmental factors such as currents and sea life would potentially attempt push them away from the gateway, wherein they would then have to swim deeper into the water in order to visibly see the portal and attempt to exit the ocean again.

Near 85% of the subjects claim that after approximately █0-██ seconds after transporting to the ocean, a physical manifestation of SCP-1128-1 would slowly emerge below them in an attempt of pursuit. This manifestation changes its appearance depending on whichever variation of SCP-1128-Alpha was viewed by the subject, and can range from a █████ █████ to something resembling a ██████████ █████. SCP-1128-1 manifestations exhibit behavior relating to the animal it is "based" on, although most cases show no upper brain functions, and will instead attempt to scavenge and consume anything biological in origin it can find, including seaweed, fish, sharks, whales, and even the subject. If the subject does not get consumed by SCP-1128-1, and instead drowns in the water,4 the deceased body of the subject would slowly emerge from the previous body of water they used to transport to the ocean. It is currently unknown how this process occurs, as the dead body would not have been able to reach SCP-1128-2, and therefore further research of this anomaly is pending.

Interviews with subjects exposed to SCP-1128 instances carry risk of further contamination, as descriptions of the SCP-1128-1's varying appearance trigger further infections. SCP-1128-Alpha infection can be treated with Class-A Amnesiacs, as it appears memory of the SCP-1128-1 or descriptions of it are required for its anomalous properties to take effect.

Research helping identify SCP-1128-1's true appearance and nature along with its connection to SCP-1128-Alpha are ongoing.

Addendum 1128.1: DATA EXPUNGED

Addendum 1128.2: Tracking devices fixed on D-Class subjects show that they are transported to an area in the █████ Ocean when infected with SCP-1128-Alpha, not far from the Coast of ██████████ Bay. Further examination of these coordinates reveals the area to be near a similar part of the ocean, where ██ reports of a mythological creature known as the "██████-████" have been made. Mobile Task Force Kappa-12 ("Fuck the Ocean") has since been assigned to guard this area at all costs, and redirect any sea-travelling vessels away from the ocean.

"That's where we've been sending those D-Class? How does a short-range wireless communicator get such a clear signal from that far away?" ~Dr. ██████

Addendum 1128.3: Reports show that near the bottom of SCP-1128-1's containment ocean lie dozens of massive skeletal remains. Most of these skeletons display little to no known biological animal previously recorded, and each skeletal structure appears unique from each other. Subjects who viewed these skeletal remains were shown to be infected with SCP-1128, and upon being fully submerged in water, SCP-1128-1 emerged almost immediately with the appearance of an [DATA EXPUNGED]. No remains were recovered during the incident, and since then Mobile Task Force Kappa-12 ("Fuck the Ocean") has additionally been assigned with attempting to neutralize SCP-1128-1 instances should the entity either obtain this appearance or reach a size span equivalent of the █████████ █████.

UPDATE ██/█/1█: It has since been discovered that these skeletal remains are in fact what is left over after SCP-1128-1 [DATA EXPUNGED]. This further explains why SCP-1128-1 had manifested as the [DATA EXPUNGED]
