Infrared camera picture of SCP-3869's oral cavity magnified
Item #: SCP-3869
Object Class: Elucid
Special Containment Procedures: This organism must be never exposed to any light, or the subject will immediately attack the nearest living article or entity. To avoid exposure and immediate death, use an infrared or ultraviolet light to observe the specimen. Keep this entity locked inside a 34mm x 25 mm x 12 mm or smaller box made of lead, as any other material, the specimen can and will escape. If this box is any larger, it will [DATA EXPUNGED] and slide out of the crack to escape into the wild. Under no circumstances should you touch the specimen, as exposure will lead to immediate death.
Description: SCP-3869 is similar in shape to a Platyzoa, or Flatworm, but much larger. It can reach up to 1.7 meters tall and 0.98 meters wide in diameter. The entity has small orbs, which cannot detect movement but can detect light, which then triggers a photophobic reaction, causing the specimen to annihilate the nearest target.
The specimen secretes an ectoplasm outer shell, which allows it to go unnoticed when entering areas of danger or feeding grounds. This outer shell makes the specimen practically invisible, in which when covered in this ectoplasm, starts to hunt. SCP-3869 makes its executions very stealthily and interestingly, in also very gory ways. First, the specimen shocks the human, its usual prey in the Ulnar nerve, on the wrist which sends the human into agonizing pain. Then, as the pain starts to go away, SCP-3869 goes in through the ear and travels down into the esophagus, leaving no harm done to the human. Once this is done, it starts doing what it came for. The human, totally awake and realizing this, sees their stomach swelling and bulging, that is because of the specimen eating all of the human's organs. Once it is done, it comes out of the ear that it came in through, successfully killing the human and getting a sufficient meal.
SCP-3869 does this hunting procedure when any human was to do anything that sparked up light, and once it is done with this act. It goes back to its nesting grounds, in [DATA EXPUNGED]
Addendum [SPC-3869a]: Dr. █████ has been interviewed many times by The Foundation to wonder how it is done that Dr. █████ viewed it without being hunted. The scientist claimed that if you use ultraviolet light to view it, then it cannot see you. This has been taken into account for containment procedures so that SCP-3869 cannot cause any harm. See more info at Incident 3869-a
Addendum [SPC-3869b]: Level 3 personnel that have viewed this creature exclaims that it must be destroyed. Many personnel that has also witnessed SCP-3869 believe that it should be destroyed. The original personnel to start the rumor has been terminated. Further action may be needed to prevent the further action of the rumor. SCP-3869 is a creature that is still astonishing, despite being terrifying, and destroying it would not be an action that should be needed.
Incident Reports:
Incident 3869-a: 1█/██/197█
Upon the first containment procedures and observation, SCP-3869 attempted to escape its box. It kept violently throttling back and forth until the lead box fell off the table, causing the lid to fall open, which then, in turn, allowed SCP-3869 to escape. Since the observers did not know about the organisms photophobic habits, when the box was open, SCP-3869 secreted its ectoplasm due to being exposed to light, causing it to go invisible. The 4 observers were amazed and terrified. They sent a Class D into the room in attempts to bring the specimen back into its lead box, but the subject ended up having a seizure, then a bulged stomach, all leading to the subject lying dead on the floor. After that, SCP-3869 must have lost its outer shell of ectoplasm, so it returned into the box, on its own. Dr.█████, who was one of the observers, said that this must of been when it (referring to SCP-3869) was done with its feeding.
-Dr.███ demands it to be reclassified to a Keter for its habits for escaping
-Dr. ███'s request has been denied due to it not being harmful enough to cause any damage to spectators or escape on its own, it throttled to escape, it did not just burst out.
Incident 3869-b: ██/██/20██
After Incident-a in 19██, the scientists came to a conclusion that it is photosensitive, and when exposed to light, exterminates the nearest being that is alive. They have taken that fact into consideration to always keep the lights off. To view this, observers must use an ultraviolet light or infrared camera, as anything else it can detect. They, however, did not expect it to be attracted to sound, as when a scientist observing it with an infrared camera, their phone in the scientists left pocket started ringing, SCP-3869 immediately killed the scientist.
-Again, Dr.███ demands it to be reclassified as a Keter because it can now get out of its containment unit by itself.
-Dr.███'s request has been denied again, due to The Foundation not having enough info on all of the possible outcomes of SCP-3869
Footnotes:
Dr.███ and Dr.██████ have also died due to the violence that SCP-3869 has inflicted, and when observing it out of its box, SCP-3869 can be heard mimicking human baby crying sounds, which only further induces fear into the scientists.
Dr.███, one of the original to work on SCP-3869, kept in bringing in complaints every day, writing down at least one reason why the specimen should be classified as a Keter, until he died on ██/██/201█
