Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be held in a 5m x 5m x 10m room. No staff of any access level are permitted to climb or use SCP-XXXX for any reason unless given express permission by Doctor ██████.

Description: SCP-XXXX is an orange work ladder made by █████. It is seven (7) meters tall, and a third meter wide (0.3). It does not outwardly appear to have any special properties; however, when climbed, it gives the climber an extreme sense of vertigo. In one such case, dubbed Incident SCP-XXXX-B in this report, a Class D who climbed it was overwhelmed by the feeling of vertigo and could not let go.

SCP-XXXX was discovered on a construction site for a residential building in a Chicago suburb after a construction worker died from falling off of it. This has been deemed as Incident SCP-XXXX-A. After a few tests, it has been attested to by test subjects that at a certain point on SCP-XXXX (halfway up, or ten (10) rungs) the climber will become immobile and feel as if they are being moved up without actually climbing. They will lose all motor functions and their muscles will contract, making their grip to the sides of SCP-XXXX near unbreakable.

Logging of any tests involving SCP-XXXX has proven impossible, as communication is impossible to sustain when the test subject cannot move their mouth. It has been observed, however, that eye movement continues to happen while a subject is on SCP-XXXX. A subject can loosen their grip on SCP-XXXX, and once they do, they will fall as if they were higher in the air than they were. It appears as if for every second a subject remains on SCP-XXXX, they will fall an additional one and a half (1.5) meters.

+ Incident SCP-XXXX-A

On █████ ██, ████, at a construction site in the suburbs of Chicago, a worker named ██████ ████ attempted to climb SCP-XXXX to install a lightbulb in a chandelier. Witnesses, who have had their memories of the event since erased, say that the man was only halfway up the ladder when he stopped and froze. He was on SCP-XXXX for about five (5) minutes before he fell off and slammed into the ground as if had been "dropped from a skyscraper." Witnesses say he screamed, hit the ground, and bounced before becoming quiet and deemed dead.

+ Incident SCP-XXXX-B

A Class D, D-2933, was led in SCP-XXXX's containment cell and asked to climb as high as they could. They were given standard communication equipment, and just before reaching the halfway point, D-2933 reported an extreme feeling of vertigo. After taking one more step, they froze and could not move further. They did not respond to any commands from Doctor ██████. When a guard was sent into SCP-XXXX's containment cell to check on D-2933, they attempted to pry their hands free, but could not make any progress. After three guards all simultaneously put their effort into freeing D-2933, they released their grip and collapsed on top of the guards, breaking their leg in the process. D-2933 was stuck on SCP-2933 for a total of 9.83 seconds, approximating to about 14.745 meters.
