Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-XXXX is to be stored in an electronic safe with Class C keycard access. The safe is to be kept in any standard cell on site. Locked. SCP-XXXX may only be removed from its electronic safe containment with written confirmation from Level 3 personnel, and all subjects interacting with SCP-XXXX must be kept under observation until it is returned to containment.
Personnel with Level 3 access may sign in with SCP-XXXX for themselves, or for other personnel with temporary access. The limit for signing in with SCP-XXXX is forty-five (45) minutes. And proper sign in sheet etiquette must be kept.
Issues with personnel taking too much time with SCP-XXXX should be reported to ████ ████████ at ███-███-████ and privileges will be temporarily revoked.
Description:
SCP-XXXX is a 1952 Vintage Rand Mcnally topographical globe with metal stand. The diameter of SCP-XXXX measures at 12” with minor dents in the Pacific Ocean, Antarctica, and what would be the Soviet Union area.
No apparent adverse effects occur from human interaction with SCP-XXXX, apart from very minor withdrawal symptoms.
What differentiates SCP-XXXX from standard globes is that SCP-XXXX does not inherently display country borders or names. Only land mass and ocean. However, over a period of 45 minutes, country borders and names will appear.
Country names and borders are arbitrary and random, and do not align with correct world geography at any point in modern history. Names of countries, however, are retained, but their borders are often in varying shapes, locations, and sizes. And rarely seem to repeat.
Countries on SCP-XXXX will often:
- Expand or diminish their borders with neighboring countries.
- Completely take over vast sections of SCP-XXXX’s surface.
- Invade countries on the opposite side of the globe surface.
After approximately 45 minutes, (times have varied from 44.5 to 45.2 minutes,) SCP-XXXX reverts back to its “original” state, with no country names or borders. And the process repeats itself.
San Marino is always the first country to appear. Which typically occurs 30 seconds to 1 minute into the process. This places the beginning of SCP-XXXX’s cycle at approximately _September, 301 AD._
The last country to appear is always South Sudan. Which occurs around minute 44. South Sudan was founded July 20 of 2011. This places the end of SCP-XXXX’s cycle at roughly _November 9 2027._
Why this specific day/month/year is always the end of the cycle remains unknown.
WHILE SCP-XXXX POSES NO DIRECT THREAT, ALL ATTEMPTS TO EXTEND CYCLE PAST 2027 SHOULD BE MADE AND REPORTED.
This cycle occurs with no site personnel interference.
When signed in, site personnel interaction with SCP-XXXX can vary the cycles. Depending entirely on types of interaction. However, they never exceed November 2027.
Advise immediate further personnel testing and experimentation of SCP-XXXX to determine if cycle can be increased.

Subject prodded area over India with pinky finger. Country and surrounding borders shrunk. No noticeable effect on other sections of globe surface.
Subject was unable to extend cycle. Subject signed out on time.

Subject flicked area in center of Pacific Ocean. Countries in Pacific Rim area vanished and did not return for remainder of cycle.

Subject dropped SCP-XXXX. Causing dent over Antarctic Circle. Cycle reset immediately. Subject was removed from experiment and returned to cell.
SCP-XXXX returned early.

Personnel blew steady stream of air over land and sea areas with no effect. Personnel then dripped approx. 3 ml water on same area with no effect. Subject then placed lips on area over Mexico. Mexican borders increased greatly in size.

Subject observed SCP-XXXX with no interaction. Entire global area became country of Germany by minute 40. SCP-XXXX was then thrown at the D-Class subject’s head with extreme force. D-Class received severe concussion. No effects to SCP-XXXX.
Subject was unable to extend cycle. Subject was unconscious and unable to sign out on time. Subject privileges revoked.

Subject firmly wrapped arms around SCP-XXXX. Continent of Africa was lost. Subject refused to relinquish control of SCP-XXXX. Claiming feelings of God-like power. Subject was sedated and SCP-XXXX was returned to containment.
Subject was unable to extend cycle. Subject signed out late. Subject privileges revoked.

Following cycle returned to original behavior.
