Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX's may be housed in a standard containment locker with a 4-digit keycode. Access to the locker is restricted to personnel assigned to SCP-XXXX. Personnel are not permitted to handle SCP-XXXX except for the purpose of testing.

Revision to Special Containment Procedures: Testing of SCP-XXXX has been suspended following Incident K3201.

Description: SCP-XXXX resembles an advanced combat helmet typically associated with the early-2000's United States Army Infantry.

When SCP-XXXX is placed on the head of a live human, subject is thereafter considered to be an instance of SCP-XXXX-1. Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 will not show any signs of anomalous behavior unless attempts are made to remove SCP-XXXX from their head. Subjects will react as though the presence of SCP-XXXX on their head is vital to their continued survival even if they have not been made aware of its anomalous properties.

When an instance of SCP-XXXX-1 is questioned about the potential removal of the object, they will invariably make reference to 'snipers' being present in the area. Subjects will display this reaction regardless of their immediate surroundings.

Within 1-2 seconds of SCP-XXXX's removal from an effected subject, the instance of SCP-XXXX-1 will be killed by an unknown force.

While the nature of this force is not understood, it resembles that of ballistic impact. This will always result in the destruction of SCP-XXXX-1's brain stem. This event will occur regardless of subject's location, even from within a confined space.

Despite the damage sharing the superficial appearance of a gunshot wound, no physical remains of the 'bullet' have ever been located. This is the case whether or not the force was sufficient to generate a pattern typical of an exit wound.

Incident Log K3201: On July 7th, ████, testing was being performed to better understand the effects of SCP-XXXX on unconscious subjects. A D-Class test subject was placed inside a cell surrounded by 0.61 meter-thick reinforced concrete and provided with general anesthesia until unconscious. SCP-XXXX was then placed on the subject's head. Approximately three minutes later, researchers removed SCP-XXXX from the test subject using a robotic arm placed inside the cell. Subject was killed almost instantly, along with Sr. Researcher Montrose.

Investigation revealed that the wounds responsible for the deaths of both the test subject and Sr. Researcher Montrose were consistent with a single ballistic path. This was the case despite Sr. Researcher Montrose being located outside the concrete cell. It is notable that no damage was found to the walls surrounding the cell, suggesting that the force responsible was capable of doing damage to both living subjects without its path being effected by the presence of the wall. Further testing has been indefinitely suspended.
