SCP-5480 upon arriving at the facility

Item #: SCP-5480

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5480 is to be contained within a steel chamber measuring 5m x 3.5m x 2.5m, with its interior decorated to resemble the one of an old cottage, with artificial light source built directly in the center of the room. No foundation personnel are to enter the containment chamber unless given permission by at least one (1) Level 3 researcher.

Description: SCP-5480 is a humanoid entity measuring approximately 1.90 meters in height and 75-80 kilograms in weight. Its appearance resembles that of a middle-aged Caucasian male in his late thirties. Entity is observed to wear a suit of black color with a reddish tie, similar to those worn in 1930s, black pants and a black fedora on top of his head. SCP-5480 has never changed his clothing during the time of his containment in Foundation facility.

SCP-5480 was found in the village of [DATA REDACTED], in the mountain parts of Bosnia, after the report of ██ people going missing in that region. The entity was found residing in an old cottage, which had an appearance of a typical North American hunting cabin, with some elements of Bosnian traditional architecture; the cottage is thought to be SCP-5480's long time residence, and is currently being investigated for any additional information on entity's way of life and its behavior. Upon arrival of the Foundation agents at the location of SCP-5480, the entity greeted agents in Serbo-croatian languages, but quickly changed to the English language after realizing that the agents couldn't understand it. The entity had shown no resistance to the process of its containment and transport to the Foundation facility.

After its arrival to the Foundation facility, SCP-5480 was immediately put in the temporary containment for its on-site evaluation. During the conversation between SCP-5480 and Dr. ████████ and his assistant Dr. ██████, the entity had shown a possession of great intelligence and understanding of a few languages, including Serbo-croatian, English, French, Russian and German language in small portions. Entity appears to be very talkative and is especially interested in conversations regarding history and philosophy. It hasn't shown any signs of aggressive behavior towards Foundation staff, and is as of now considered a Safe class object, and anyone with Level 1 clearance and higher can make contact with SCP-5480. Its containment cell is to be decorated to resemble his previous residing spot, in order to prevent the development of any unwanted behavior. Further testing is to be scheduled soon.

Addendum: After searching the SCP-5480's previous residing spot, Foundation agents had retrieved entity's diary which contains the details of SCP-5480's victims going missing (further on referred to as SCP-5480-B). As concluded from the writings of SCP-5480, the entity went into houses of those who it deemed "blinded" and "misguided in life" with the goal to "enlighten them". From the given description, the way SCP-5480 would "enlighten" them was that he would approach his victim during the sleep, he would rest his hand on the victims forehead and then [DATA EXPUNGED], which would cause instant comatose; from this point on, targeted victim becomes SCP-5480-B (this entity still retains vital organic functions, but is in the state of irreversible unconsciousness). SCP-5480 then proceeds to take SCP-5480-B to the forest, and [DATA EXPUNGED]. No bodies were found on that site. It has been considered to reclassify SCP-5480 from Safe to Euclid, but not enough information is obtained for that. Further investigation is required. Dr. ██████ has filed a request for SCP-5480 to be cross-tested with SCP-049 or other entity with extraordinary intelligence.

Addendum 2: SCP-5480 has shown the ability to materialize outside of its containment chamber and freely roam around the facility. This imposes great security risk to our staff; to counter this, a number of items are to be brought back from SCP-5480's original residing spot to the containment chamber, and a light source is to be built directly in the center of the room (seeing from SCP-5480's diary, nearby light source greatly reduces the entity's ability to teleport and otherwise move freely; bright light seems to cause a light concussion to the entity). From now on, Level 3 clearance is required to observe and interact with SCP-5480.

Addendum 3: SCP-5480 is becoming more and more uncomfortable with his current containment. More aggressive behavior towards Foundation staff has been noted multiple times. Researchers are currently looking into ways to counter this effect, but by then a formal request has been filed to the O5 Council for the reclassification of SCP-5480 from Safe to Euclid. Awaiting response.
