Special Containment Procedures: SCP-5354 is kept within the walls of Area-5354. SCP-5354 should be constantly monitored by guards above the walls surrounding it. If an instance SCP-5354-1 currently exists, it is to be placed within an airtight containment chamber while being monitored by a camera placed in the northwest upper corner of the room. One guard should also be positioned outside the entrance of the containment chamber and armed with incendiary weaponry while also wearing a gas mask. No personnel is allowed to make physical contact with the entity.
Description: SCP-5354 was found inside the centermost area of the Canadian shield after the foundation received multiple reports of people going missing with their clothes discarded on the ground covered in a yellowish-black liquid. The entity is a pool of yellowish-black liquid similar to petroleum. SCP-5354 is fully sentient and is able to understand and speak twenty-four different human languages.
If an instance of SCP-5354-1 doesn't already exist an instance of SCP-5354-1 will begin emerging from the center of SCP-5354, an instance of SCP-5354 will mostly take on a humanoid appearance in a semi-solid state, but it has shown that it is capable of taking the form of other land-based organisms including those that date back 177,000,000 million years ago. When SCP-5354-1 was asked about its origins it gave an unsure response claiming that all it remembers are the memories of previous living organisms. Both SCP-5354 and SCP-5354-1 are vulnerable to incendiary weaponry
Any instance of SCP-5354 is able to share information between itself and SCP-5354. An instance of SCP-5354 will sometimes attempt to absorb living or dead organisms into its mass. The entity will accomplish this by liquifying its body and will then fully engulf the subject discarding any inorganic material. It will then begin causing it to decay the subject until all remains of the original subject have been fully absorbed before then returning to it's a semi-solid state. After foundation personnel asked why it absorbs intelligent life SCP-5354 replied saying that "it's to become smarter than humanity". The memories and subsequent knowledge of the subject will then be fully accessible by both SCP-5354 and SCP-5354-1.
Instances of SCP-5354 will usually show off a calm demeanor, but if threatened it will become aggressive. The entity is also highly intelligent and possesses a deep interest in humanity. When asked about why it takes on the form of a human being it replyed saying that "they are the most intelligent life on the planet".
Addendum: 5354-1 1 (Experiment Log)
The following is an experiment log conducted with SCP-5354
Experiment 5354-1 1:
Subject: D-4553
Procedure: D-4553 was introduced into SCP-5354-1's containment chamber.
Results: SCP-5354-1 moved towards the subject and absorbed him without issue.
Analysis: After later asked about the reason for the conviction of D-4553, SCP-5354-1's response matched with the record.
Experiment 5354-1 2:
Subject: A regular house plant
Procedure: A potted house plant was placed into SCP-5354-1's containment chamber.
Results: SCP-5354-1 ignored the subject and the subject was later extracted.
Analysis: After being asked for why it didn't absorb the subject SCP-5354-1 stated that the plant didn't hold any information and was thus useless.
Experiment 5354-1 3:
Subject: An opened barrel of petroleum
Procedure: An opened barrel of petroleum was placed into SCP-5354-1's containment chamber.
Results: SCP-5354-1 moved toward the subject and began inspecting the exterior before then discovering the lid to be open. SCP-5354-1 then proceeded to enter the subject and later re-emerged. The subject was later extracted from the containment chamber.
Analysis: The contents of the petroleum barrel had been fully emptied. After foundation personnel asked SCP-5354-1 what it did. SCP-5354-1 stated that it had converted the oil into its mass claiming that it possessed useful information.
Document 5354-1: Event Log 5354-1
A guard who was monitoring the inside of SCP-5354-1's containment was seen via surveillance running over to the containment chamber of SCP-5354-1. The subject then incapacitated the guard outside the containment chamber and opened the door to SCP-5354-1's containment chamber. SCP-5354-1 then proceeded to absorb most of the on-site staff before then being terminated with incendiary weapons. The guard who caused the containment breach was later found alive in the facility and brought into an interrogation. After being asked why he opened the door to SCP-5354-1's containment chamber, the subject claimed that SCP-5354-1 took on the form of his deceased wife that had died ██ years ago.
