SCP-3895 - The Sentient Sinkhole
rating: 0+x

Item #: SCP-3895

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-3895 is to be contained within a 9x9 mile radius. The 9x9 mile area surrounding SCP-3895 is to be walled off using reinforced concrete. The containment zone is to be monitored by remote surveillance cameras at all times with any outages to be reported to site command. Seismic scanning equipment is to be stationed on site for monitoring SCP-3895's subterranean activities. Only level 3 personnel are allowed in the containment area.

Description:
SCP-3895 is a 10x10 meter sinkhole in the ground with a presently unknown depth and cause. Each side of SCP-3895 contains two small pipes of unknown composition and origin.

SCP-3895 appears to have a vacuum present within itself. when anything attempts or enters the hole, the entity whom entered, appears to no longer exist and are covered in SCP-3895’s shadow. This includes light which ceases to exist when placed inside SCP-3895.

SCP-3895 has the ability to increase its diameter and width at will, though it is unknown currently how SCP-3895 achieves this.

The strangest behavior of SCP-3895 is it seeks out those with death wishes or depression and proceeds to devour the individual giving these feelings off. It also appears to be attacted to areas with light which it

Discovery
SCP-3895 was discovered in the Town of Alert in Northern Canada on April 12th 2███ When local law enforcement were in the process of investigating the town due to disappearances. The police team reported back on a weird moving hole in the town. Afterwards the Foundation dispatched MTF team - Choirboys to assess the situation and proceeded to sedate the officers. While the team proceeded to secure the area. The town was later demolished and all citizens moved out to make room for an extension to Site ████ to contain SCP-3895. During construction of the extension a stimulus event occurred, letting the foundation and staff on site at that moment experience the event. After this event the staff onsite were reorganized to focus on surveillance efforts in case another event similar occurs and to find ways to stop it.

Experiment Report A-25
Following the discovery of SCP-3895, multiple researchers onsite worked out an experiment and had it approved by the 05 council.

Dr. [REDACTED] led the experiment which began with multiple researchers taking a flashlight and shining the beam into SCP-3895 hoping to be able to see inside. The researchers were surprised to find that the flashlight beam appeared to not be able to penetrate the darkness within SCP-3895. Following this turn of events Dr. [REDACTED] began to act in a frustrated manner and eventually threw the entire flashlight into SCP-3895 in an attempt to illuminate the hole within. This was how SCP-3895’s Vacuum properties were discovered.

Addendum 1
5 hours after the flashlight experiment, an MTF guard on routine patrol noticed there was something strange coming out SCP-3895. The guard approached the entrance to SCP-3895 only to find electrical arcs exiting the pipes apparently connected to the hole. Following this discovery, the foundation also discovered blood pouring out of these pipes after SCP-3895 had hunted. It is believed that the electricity came from the remains of the flashlight and the blood is from the remains of organisms who took part in the stimulus.

This has lead researchers to believe, SCP-3895 has a functioning organ or similar apparatus within itself allowing it to filter through objects throw within.

Addendum 2
Following a stimulus event, SCP-3895 returned to it's containment area. After it returned, onsite personnel reported hearing a roaring sound similar to that of a train or a jet aircraft. Following this sound SCP-3895 ejected a mangled ball of human flesh and metal from it's opening. The ball contained human bones, flesh, blood and eyeballs. The mass emitted small rays of radiation though there were no sources of radiation nearby. Researchers concluded that SCP-3895 has a limit to the amount of living flesh or other substances consumed once it has filled itself, it must eject all consume substances. this will need to be investigated further.

Incident Report 1
Much research had been conducted between the months after the flashlight experiment and between this time, 10 stimulus events had occurred, resulting in 10 more casualties in civilian and personnel life. About a month after the pipe discovery, the foundation and onsite staff cleared through 05 another experiment, this one in particular was to discover the stimulant that causes the hunting behavior in SCP-3895. For the experiment, 3 class D personnel were trucked in from a local facility and given different instructions. Alongside the Class D personnel, a crane was driven in to assist with the experiment. Dr.[REDACTED] Led the experiment.

The class D's were designated.

1. D-5621, a Male in his late 30s, with a long history of a generally happy life besides recent history when he was convicted of theft.
2. D-9267, A female of 19 years of age whom had a history with alcohol abuse and was convicted of murder.
and D-6E23, A Male in his late 20s, whom was placed into the foundation as part of his program at a local mental institution, D-6E23 has had a long history of mental illness even from a young age, with an attempt on his life around the year 2000.

They were instructed to express a certain emotional feeling when the order was given.
This was due to the research conducted before which had discovered most of the stimulus victims had a past or present dealing with emotional problems as well as mental disabilities and general mental issues. Most of the victims were of 12 to 20 for the age range and the victims seemed to be emotionally distressed at the time of Stimulus.

Before each section of the experiment, a Class D was placed onto the small crane's hook and held over a designated area.

D-5621 was instructed to feel extremely happy, this was not believed to be the cause but was an educated guess by onsite staff at the time.

Following D-5621's section, nothing happened to SCP-3895 as SCP-3895 appeared to not be affected what so ever.

Next came D-9267, she was instructed to feel intensely angry, to where she screamed and flailed her arms in the air. Again nothing occurred to SCP-3895.

Finally D-6E23 was placed onto the crane hook and instructed to feel extremely depressed. Following this order D-6E23 proceeded to cry and scream as he attempted to the remove the hook and fall to his death. Once this action began SCP-3895 began to move at an extremely fast pace, too quick for the onsite staff to warn personnel as multiple guards and researchers were killed by SCP-3895.

SCP-3895 grew in size as it approached D-6E23 and proceeded to "Devour" the entire crane along with D-6E23.

Weapons had no effect on SCP-3895 and so onsite staff watched as SCP-3895 proceeded to engulf the crane and D-6E23.

Following these events, The SCP-3895 proceeded to repeat it's normal cycle and return to it's former resting location.

RESULTS - Stimulus found, Depression and Death Wish.
30 Staff killed and 1 class D disposed.
