Holographic Flower

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a sealed and locked box when not under study. No further containment measures are necessary.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a violet and pink flower of unknown origin, possibly extraterrestrial. Attempts to classify SCP-XXXX in any way have proven impossible, because it is indestructible and resists any attempts at collecting DNA samples.

Attempts to destroy or manipulate SCP-XXXX are as follows:

- SCP-XXXX was neglected and not kept in preservation state for a period of one month. SCP-XXXX does not wilt or decay.
- SCP-XXXX exposed to temperatures exceeding 970 degrees Celsius. SCP-XXXX does not combust and surface temperature of SCP-XXXX remains at 17 degrees Celsius.
- SCP-XXXX resisted attempts at crushing by hydraulic press. SCP-XXXX was flattened, but slowly resumed its original shape when pressure was removed.
- SCP-XXXX resisted attempts at cutting and tearing (Class-D subject SCP-XXXX-03 given small pocketknife and safety scissors for this purpose.1)

Subject SCP-XXXX-03 assigned to cutting/tearing SCP-XXXX reported anomalous stimuli when in physical contact with SCP-XXXX, transcribed as follows:

"I touched it and I wasn't here anymore, I was somewhere else, with a waterfall and trees everywhere, you know, and I walked around for a bit until I ran into a wall and dropped the flower and it was all back to normal."2

Further study has shown that physical skin contact with SCP-XXXX overrides all stimuli. Any living creature in contact with SCP-XXXX believes they are in a different location.

When submerged in water and removed, droplets on SCP-XXXX reflect images consistent with report given by SCP-XXXX-03. Droplets in contact with SCP-XXXX are shown to have temperature of 17 degrees Celsius. This is not consistent with temperature of containment room, kept at 15 degrees Celsius.

Droplets which have come in contact with SCP-XXXX continue to reflect non-consistent images when contact with SCP-XXXX ceases. SCP-XXXX-affected water has no adverse effect when imbibed.4

When observed or photographed in a dark room, SCP-XXXX is self-illuminating. Brightness of SCP-XXXX varies in a 32.2-hour cycle.

SCP-XXXX was originally found in the possession of one C[REDACTED] S[REDACTED] (POI-XXXX-01). Following seizure of SCP-XXXX, POI-XXXX-01 was moved to a secure location for interviewing and given Class-A amnestics following the interview.

Footnotes:

[1]

Subject SCP-XXXX-03 returned pocketknife and scissors to authorized personnel without violent incident, reporting feelings of peace and tranquility after contact with SCP-XXXX. Feelings subsided approximately 10 minutes after exposure.3

[2]

Further study of holographic stimuli produced by SCP-XXXX have produced a consistent description of the environment.

[3]

Further study of holographic stimuli has failed to consistently produce euphoric effects. Euphoria is likely not a direct result of contact with SCP-XXXX.

[4]

SCP-XXXX was submerged into a one-liter glass of distilled water and left overnight to produce one liter of affected water. Affected water was sampled by eight D-class personnel and is reportedly "lukewarm and hard." It has a higher calcium and magnesium concentration than vapor-distilled water.
