SCP-XXXX outside of containment

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: THE BOOK is located within Site-76 and is to be contained within 1m x 1m Lockbox Safe weighing no less then 3 tons and being reinforced with materials designed to withstand any conventional explosive or conflagration attacks on it. The Safe itself is to be mounted and reinforced to the floor of a 3m by 3m room concrete and lead lined room with equal capabilities to be able to resists explosions and fire. Every 30cm through the room reinforced tungsten coated nozzles are placed for instances where unauthorised personal enter and are able to compromise the safe and come in possession of THE BOOK.

The single entrance of the room has 3 individual 45 cm Heavy duty Metal doors that each require a separate 10 digit passcode and a Biometric Scan from at least the Site Director and 2 different designated Level 04 or higher Personal.

Accessing the Safe itself requires a 20 digit passcode, said passcode is evenly disrupted between 17 Class A Foundation Personal and 3 05 Council Member, with each and every member knowing only their own single number. Colluding with another member regarding their own number will be considered a high level security breach and grounds for immediate reprimand or termination. When the situation arises all number may be remotely sent to a designated member at the site of THE BOOK and they shall proceed immediately to THE BOOK containment site to enter the passcode, no other members may view or be directly present when the passcode is entered, unauthorised personal viewing or being aware of the combination must be immediately contained and administered CLASS - E Amnestics. The Designated Personal may then site on the Desk and Chair present in the room and begin the approved experiment.

Once all action has been concluded with THE BOOK it shall be placed and locked within the safe. The Designated member shall then immediately be administered CLASS - B Amnestics and monitored to make sure no recollection of the full passcode is present.

If at any point the designated member is shown to go rogue and write anything within the book not officially sanctioned to be written, or attempts to leave the room with THE BOOK within their possession, then all nozzles in the room shall be activated filling the space with fire burning at 5500 degrees Celsius for 10 minutes before ceasing. Designated security personal are then immediately required to enter the room and secure the book back within the safe before clean up crew is called to tend to the remains.

Update:Due to THE BOOKS capabilities to initiate both a CK-CLASS and potentially a ZK-CLASS scenario depending on what is written within it, a unanimous vote must be held by all members of the O5 Council before THE BOOK can be authorised to be written in by Foundation personal.

Description: SCP is a aged but otherwise normal book. It has a standard hard cover with a brown colourisation to it and has wear and fading that is standard of a book that is ██ years old. It has no listed Author, citations or copyright dates within it, lacking any major identifiers for a time of its creation outside of its outward appearance.

Several pages within the book feature words and definition in a standard dictionary format. These items are all hand written and seem to have no chronological order to them. There is also present several hand written notes or sentences that do not follow this format but have still activated The books effects. Additionally several different languages seem to be present within the book, including modern and Old English, Traditional Chinese, Latin, Russian,Greek, Ancient Japanese, modern Japanese, French,Hebrew, Sanskrit, [REDACTED], [REDACTED], Sumerian and █ unidentified and untranslated languages.

SCP Anomalous properties manifest when a name, object, concept or idea is written on a page within the book, when and only when the word or sentence has been concluded, physically or in some cases mentally1. The object, concept or idea ceases to exist both currently and retroactively, all references, writing, memories or understanding of the written item also evaporates with the only allusion to the item existing within SCP from that point onwards, because of this effect Foundation personal have found testing or gathering of information on the artefact to be difficult, as inherently the artefact itself is the only object to keep a record of the ‘erased’ item.

The material used to write within SCP seem irrelevant for its activation, as viewing previous entries in the book indicate that Ink, Lead, Graphite, Charcoal,Blood and [REDACTED], all succeed in activating the objects effects. Language used is also irrelevant, as long as the person writing within the language has a understanding of the Language itself.

Further observations has also noted that the object seems to have a questionable continuity within time itself, with concealed pages seemingly shifting and showing different notes and entries. Wether this shifting pages are showing entires from within the future, or within alternate realities, or a combination of both is currently unclear. As contact with alternate Foundations has revealed a equal amount of inconclusive evidence on their iterations of THE OBJECT, although communication has shown speculation that THE OBJECT may be universally-static in nature, existing as a singular object that transcends all realities.

At its current time SCP has [REDACTED] amount of entries, over [REDACTED] amount of pages, although this number may be shifting based on the above phenomenon.

Addendum 3: Reclassification

"As of the current time all conversations in regards to reclassifying THE BOOK as Thaumiel and using it as a contingency device for high threat SCPs are to be put on hold. We simply do not have enough information of the semantics of the book to be able to safely and effectively use it without a significant risk of a uncontrollable and unintentional CK Class event occurring."-05 Council
