Team Leads: DR. PAUL DALESSIO, AGENT KAREN RODRIQUEZ, DR. STEPHEN RILEY
Subject: CLARVEL WINERY
Following arrival in Clarvel, France, the team prepared their suite at Hotel La Bonne Auberge to allow for radio communication during the wine tour. Both Agent Riley and Dr. Dalessio were equipped with mobile equipment allowing them to descretely sample any provided food or drinks during Clerval Winery’s first tour of the season.
[BEGIN LOG]
Riley: Alright, should be up now. Can you both confirm for me?
Dalessio: Mine seems to be in working order.
Rodriquez: Confirm for coms.
Riley: Go ahead into the structure. We will keep you updated if there are any anomalous readings out here or from your sampling instruments.
[Dr. Dalessio and Agent Rodriquez proceed to enter the Clerval Winery and are greeted by SCP-XXXX, hereafter labeled as “The Host”.]
The Host: Welcome, Dr. Dalessio and Ms. Rodriquez. I will be your host tonight. As the proprietor of the winery, I hope that you enjoy your evening here. The rest of the guests are waiting for you in the dining room for dinner service prior to beginning our first tour of the season, which I am happy to say features some lovely newcomers to the winery. If you’ll follow me.
Dalessio: Of course. I must say the Cabernet Sauvignon you sent was exquisite.
The Host: Delightful. If you'll follow me.
[The Host leads Dalessio and Rodriquez to the dining room where 16 others are seated around the table. The two sit at their assigned placements and the Host leaves to bring the first course of the meal.]
Rodriquez: [Whispering] Paul, have you noticed that there aren't any other staff?
Dalessio: [Whispering] That and how quiet it is in here. Like the walls are insulated to keep the senses devoted to whats going on the insde, not to mention the lack of windows.
Riley: You’re both right, we’ve been observing the winery since the team got organized and no other entities have been seen leaving or entering the building. And the walls are a novel insulation composite that achieves nearly perfect sound isolation, I’m just glad it’s not messing with our signal.
[The Host returns with a large trolley that carries a variety of small dishes and salads. The Host circles the table placing a dish and a glass of a paired wine at the placement in front of each guest.]
Dalessio: Riley, here comes our sample reports.
Riley: Okay, yeah they’re coming through. Everything looks clear. No toxins, radiation, or any anomalous attributes. You’re good to go.
Rodriquez: We’ll be sure to get samples of everything and keep you updated of any other concerns.
[The dinner goes on and the team procedes to analyze samples of each dish and wine that is provided. No issues are noted during this time.]
The Host: That is the conclusion of the dinner. I hope you enjoyed your meal. Let us proceed to the gallery for the first round of the tasting. Right this way.
[The Host brings the group to a large room adjacent to the dining room. Large paintings in various styles adorn the walls and seem to all feature a figure resembling the Host. A long table with placements and seats for each guest is prepared in the center of the room. Dr. Dalessio and Agent Rodriquez take their assigned seats.]
The Host: Please be seated everyone. As you know, fine things take time to become so. My collection attests to that, as you will see. We will begin tonight with a 1716 Clavel Merlot. It one of the more recent additions to my collection and one I hope you enjoy. As you drink, note the smoothness and fruity, plum flavor profile as well as the chocolate finish. Enjoy.
Rodriquez: Anything on this one Riley?
Riley: Wow, no, that’s the real deal. All degridation markers confirm the vintage and no anomalous qualities are showing up here. See if you two can grab a couple of bottles on your way out for the rest of us, eh?
Dalessio: I’ll see what I can do.
[The tour proceeds with 14 further wines all of which are confirmed to be authentic to their stated ages and areas of origin without any anomalous features. Of note, the oldest wine presented is a 624 BCE Egyptian wine.]
The Host opening the Clerval Winery cellar.
The Host: With that, we can head into our cellar where I have prepared separate tasting rooms for each of you with pre-arranged selections from our collections that are alligned with your own wine preferences.
Riley: Well shit, we might lose our connection if you go too deep or the walls down there get too thick. That will probably mess with your peer-to-peer coms too if you two get separated.
Rodriquez: [Whispering] No sampling readouts either. Damn.
[The Host proceeds to guide the guests to the entrance to the cellar. The first floor opens into a long hallway with a number of adjoining rooms. Each of these rooms has bottles of wine lining ceiling high shelves along its walls. The first room that the Host stops at has an individual chair and table prepared with five bottles of wine and five glasses.]
The Host: Mr. Perkins, this room has been arranged for you. If you'd take a seat, these wines have been selected from a variety of regions and ages for your enjoyment. In front of each bottle you'll find a note with its origin and description. Please enjoy as much of each of them as you'd like. I do ask that you remain here. I will be back shortly for you. The rest of you will find your rooms this way.

Riley: Oka— sta— ng to lose — nal. Kee— yo— oes. [Static.]
Rodriquez: [Whispers] Fuck, that's not good. If he separates us we can't communicate with each other with how thick these walls are.
Dalessio: [Whispers] You're right.
The Host: And if you'll all come with me to the third level of the cellar via our service elevator, we'll be taking Ms. Rodriquez to her room.
[The Host and the remaining guests gather on the service elevator and descend to the third floor. This level is similar in appearance to the previous.]
Rodriquez: [Whispers] Doc, take this. I can fight better than you and you might need it more than me. [Agent Rodriquez places his firearm in Dr. Dalessio's jacket pocket.]
Dalessio: [Whispers] I — okay. Uh, I'll try not to need it.
The Host: And here we are. Ms. Rodriquez, here is your room. As I've said, please do enjoy as much of these selections as you wish and I will be back shortly for you.
Rodriquez: Cheers, thanks.
[Following this, only transcription from Dr. Dalessio's transmitter is presented. The remaining guests are taken to rooms on the fourth and fifth floors. The Host then takes Dr. Dalessio to the bottom floor of the cellar.]
The Host: You are very fortunate to get to see this level of the winery. This is where I house the most exclusive pieces of the collection. If you please, I'd like you to try a sample of this… ah, no, this one.
[The Host removes a glass from his pocket that he fills with wine from a large barrel. He then hands the glass to Dr. Dalessio.]
Dalessio: Wh- I, um. Th- thank you. What is this one?
The Host: Please let me know what you think.
[Dr. Dalessio drinks from the glass.]
Dalessio: It is quite good whatever it is.
The Host: I'm glad you like it. I'm certain Ms. Rodriquez is also savoring her selection. I quite enjoyed having you both as guests.
Dalessio: I hope so. It has been an, um, interesting evening so far. Is there any more to the tour or can we go and get the rest of the guests?
The Host: There are several other wines down here I'd like you to try before we depart.
[The Host likewise serves three more wines to Dr. Dalessio before taking him to the service elevator. As they board the elevator, intermittent gurgling noises overlayed with static are heard over Dr. Dalessio's transmitter.]
Dalessio: Where to now?
The Host: We'll be going back to the gallery and you'll be free to leave. You're welcome to come back in the future if you'd ever like another tour.
Dalessio: What about the others?
The Host: They'll be ready in due course. As you know, fine things take time to become so.
