A non-anomalous bowling ball which resembles SCP-XXXX as described by personnel who have viewed the object directly (An image of SCP-XXXX cannot be used as a light source would be required to take a photograph of the object).
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained within a standard containment unit - however, the walls, ceiling, and floor must be constructed from a non-metal material. Concrete is the most efficient material for this purpose. All light must be prevented from entering the containment unit to ensure SCP-XXXX remains inert. To prevent the object from rolling, SCP-XXXX is to be suspended from the ceiling of its containment unit by a rope or harness made from a non-metal material. Should SCP-XXXX's containment unit need to be entered, all light sources in the corridor adjacent to the object's containment unit must be deactivated, and personnel entering the unit must wear dark clothing and a black full-face mask to prevent SCP-XXXX from becoming mobile.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a spherical object with the appearance and dimensions of a ten-pin bowling ball. The object is made of resin and weighs 5.1kg. It is extremely receptive to light, and upon detection of a light source, SCP-XXXX will immediately begin to roll towards the source of light. The object travels at 15-17km/h. When SCP-XXXX comes into contact with any material, it begins to excrete a corrosive substance from the 3 finger holes on its surface. The corrosive substance will hereforth be referred to as SCP-XXXX-1. Analysis shows that SCP-XXXX-1 is an acidic liquid which reacts with any material that has a metallic structure. The liquid corrodes and destroys any metallic substance, but has no effect on non-metallic materials (See Addendum for results of testing on various metals).
Addendum: Results of Researcher Conwell's experimentation with the corrosive properties of SCP-XXXX-1 and how long it takes these properties to corrode various metals are as follows:
- Potassium - 1.0 seconds
- Sodium - 1.5 seconds
- Magnesium - 1.8 seconds
- Aluminium - 2.0 seconds
- Zinc - 2.9 seconds
- Iron - 4.0 seconds
- Tin - 4.5 seconds
- Lead - 5.3 seconds
- Copper - 6.0 seconds
- Silver - 6.4 seconds
- Gold - 6.8 seconds
- Platinum - 7.4 seconds
