Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is located in Site-46, a small containment site under the guise of an insect research and containment building. SCP-XXXX is kept in an insect terrarium with a moistened dirt floor covering furnished with dried leaves and sticks. This terrarium is to be kept inside a standard containment cell in case SCP-XXXX breaches its terrarium. SCP-XXXX is to carefully moved to its temporary secondary habitat located in the publicly accessible area of Site-46 during the days of its contact sessions with Emily H███. SCP-XXXX is to be fed a single cup of beetle jelly a day.
Emily H███ is to be allowed entry to Site-46 once every 4 days, allowing contact sessions for interaction between SCP-XXXX and Emily H███ for up to three hours under constant supervision of Foundation agents. Emily H███ is only to be allowed within the publicly accessible area of Site-46. SCP-XXXX is allowed to return to the H███ household for a maximum of one hour of a contact session each month, provided Foundation agents are present and on guard for the duration. If any unnatural behavior from SCP-XXXX is observed during a contact session, it is to be ended immediately and carefully.
Any personnel interacting with SCP-XXXX must be sure to use slow and concise movements and avoid making loud noises so as not to frighten SCP-XXXX.
In the event of a containment breach, any personnel encountered by SCP-XXXX should remain in their current location, being sure not to make any swift movement or loud noises, and slowly retreat from SCP-XXXX's presence if necessary.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a male stag beetle (Lucanus cervus) measuring 8 cm in length. Whilst in its passive state, SCP-XXXX has almost no outstanding physical differences from any other Lucanus cervus specimen, aside from its ability to bite with its mandibles, a trait usually possessed by only female members of the species.
When SCP-XXXX feels threatened, it will proceed to quickly grow in size until it is large enough to be able to successfully combat its target. The time for this process varies depending on the size it grows to, though the average range appears to be approximately 3-10 seconds. This process does not appear to harm it in any way, and all of its bodily proportions remain consistent. The limit to its growth capabilities, if any, has not yet been determined. SCP-XXXX's strength and the durability of its carapace and elytra increase along with its size, becoming stronger and more durable as it gets larger. This enables it to effectively defend against and eliminate any threats.
SCP-XXXX appears to be more hostile than non-anomalous stag beetles, possibly due to the fact that its ability provides it with an excellent defense mechanism against threats. Unlike normal stag beetles, which will usually remain still if threatened, SCP-XXXX will instead increase its size, raise its abdomen into the air, and aggressively snap its mandibles together. If the perceived threat retreats, SCP-XXXX will not pursue it. If the threat does not retreat after a short time or moves too close towards it, SCP-XXXX will attack the target by grabbing with its mandibles and attempting to crush or stab its target to death. Failing this, it will attempt to throw the target away from it, akin to the fights between non-anomalous male stag beetles. Due to SCP-XXXX's increased strength, the force of the throw is often times enough to severely injure the target, even shattering bones in some cases.
SCP-XXXX appears to have a "bond" with an Emily H███, age 11, who claims to be the owner of SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX will commonly interact with Emily H███ outside of its containment, and becomes more prone to hostility if it does not interact with Emily H███ at least once within a span of three to four days. SCP-XXXX is much more placid when in the presence of Emily H███, provided that it does not consider her to be in any danger. If SCP-XXXX does perceive her to be in danger, it will relentlessly defend her, usually raising its body in front of her as protection, attacking anything that approaches until it calms down. Notably, SCP-XXXX will cease any attack attempts on a target if Emily H███ pleads it to stop. It is unknown if this is due to SCP-XXXX being capable understanding speech, an understanding of her emotional distress, or other reasons.
Addendum XXXX-A: Discovery.
SCP-XXXX was discovered on █/██/20██ in █████, England, when a report of a man being severely injured by an unknown source after breaking into the H███ household was discovered by the Foundation. Potential anomalous activity was suspected, and two agents were dispatched to locate more information. After questioning the man, Robert C███, he was only able to describe the assailant as being larger than any household pet, and that it had "Huge pincers or something like that" The agents went to question the H███s about this event, under the guise of news reporters, to which the family did not provide any answers. SCP-XXXX was accidentally discovered by one agent after he tripped over a toy on the floor of Emily H███'s room whilst discussing the events with her, leading him to fall onto a shelf containing the terrarium that SCP-XXXX was stored in. SCP-XXXX perceived the agent's actions as a threat, and proceeded grow to an estimated 1.88 m in length, then attack the agent. Both agents were forced to fire at SCP-XXXX with their weapons, to no avail. Whilst the second agent was calling for backup to Site-47, SCP-XXXX ceased its attacks on the first agent after Emily H███ called for it to stop. A medical team was sent from Site-47, and SCP-XXXX was tranquilized and brought to Site-47 after being calmed by Emily H███. The agent suffered moderately severe injuries, including 5 broken ribs and a punctured appendix. 3 hours after its initial retrieval, SCP-XXXX breached its containment and the facility, escaping alongside SCP-███ and SCP-████. It was tracked back to the H███ household, where it was retrieved safely. The H███ family was brought in for questioning during the second retrieval, revealing that they were aware of SCP-XXXX's anomalous properties. After stating that SCP-XXXX becomes agitated if it is without Emily H███'s presence for too long, the family, as well as subsequent testing, managed to convince Foundation staff to allow her to retain routine contact sessions with SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX has since been relocated to Site-46 in order to remain closer to the H███ family. The H███ family is currently under the pretense that Site-46 is simply an insect research facility, and SCP-XXXX has been taken to be studied to find an explanation for its properties.
Addendum XXXX-D: Incident Log XXXX-A
On ██/██/20██ at ██:██ PM, SCP-███, which was being held temporarily at Site-46, breached containment. SCP-███ breached through multiple other containment areas, including that of SCP-XXXX. Upon being released from its terrarium and encountering SCP-███, SCP-XXXX grew to an estimated length of 304 cm and proceeded to attack SCP-███. The two continued to fight for 5 consecutive minutes, eventually resulting in SCP-XXXX holding SCP-███ by the neck between its mandibles. Fortunately, this gave security personnel enough time to tranquilize both SCP-XXXX and SCP-███, and return them both to their containment chambers.
