Item #: SCP-XXX
Special Containment Procedures
SCP-XXX is to be maintained as an article in the SCP database, with specific text censored via either "black box" or the phrase "[redacted]" replacing the text. Readers of SCP-XXX (as determined through monitoring of the access log) are to be monitored for at least 2 days after accessing the file for signs of the effects of SCP-XXX.
If a reader is found to be effected, they are to be administered amnesics sufficient to erase the memory of the article, and the containment team is to determine a new pattern of text to be censored in order to maintain containment. During testing, up to 5 class-D personal with documented writing samples can be temporarily reassigned to this project until a new pattern is determined. A list of appropriate class-D personal is to be maintained by the lead containment coordinator.
A full copy of the original article is to be housed as an electronic document on standard removable storage media (currently, a read-only USB flash drive), contained in a box in the housing site's "safe" storage room.
Description
SCP-XXX is a fictional article stored in the SCP database, in the style of a set of containment procedures complete with procedures, a description, and a test log, describing an immortal semi-reptilian entity.
Reading the article causes in the reader to experience various psychological effects.
These effects can be temporary or permanent, and appear to be loosely associated with the content of the fictional article.
Consistently, in addition to other effects the effected parties display a degraded ability to write cohesive works either fictional or non-fictional, and display a lack of interest in re-gaining those abilities for a period of between 4 days to 3 years. After the period has passed, effected parties justify their lack of interest with a variety of excuses, and none to date have expressed regret or remorse over the "lost" ability.
Notably, all negative effects cease if the reader is caused to forget reading the article.
Disovery:
The article was written on August 2nd, 2008, by a junior researcher "in an attempt to mock the work of <his> peers", and was discovered to contain the anomaly by an investigation after several cases of workplace violence and breech of protocol were reported across the foundation.
Notably, *all* researchers at Site 19 remembered the subject of the article as though it were an actual item held in containment at the site, though none could recall when they last heard ofit.
The article was backed up and removed from the database on May 4th, 2008 following the investigation's discovery of the anomaly. Four days later on May 8th, an identical article was found in the database with a different SCP designation. This article was also removed, with the same result four days later on May 12th. Full censorship of the article was attempted, and four days later on May 16th the censorship was found to be entirely removed. Experiments involving partial censorship were undertaken, and on July 25th 2008 a pattern of censorship was discovered which prevented the negative effects of SCP-XXX without resulting in its reversion or it being reposed.
During the testing period, several researchers were effected by SCP-XXX without being severe enough cases to catch the attention of the containment team. Articles written by these researchers continue to be discovered. Though they have not shown the same anonymous effects as SCP-XXX, re-writing these articles is still strongly suggested as they are consistently substandard SCP articles.
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-XXXX is to be surrounded on all sides by two separate 3-meter high electrified wire fences, situated twelve meters and thirty meters outside its perimeter. Under no circumstances should barbed wire be used in the construction of the fences. Under no circumstances are foundation staff allowed within the outer fence. Motion-activated solar-powered cameras capable of 360-degree surveillance are to be placed every thirty feet along the outer fence, and the security staff at site __ are to be alerted should any activity be detected. Should a human approach SCP-XXXX's parameter, site security staff are to disguise themselves as members of the local government's military and use non-lethal means to prevent the approaching individual(s) from entering the outer fence surrounding SCP-XXXX. Should any barbed wire be observed to be part of either fence, the director of site __ is to be contacted immediately.
Description: [Paragraphs explaining the description]
SCP-XXXX is a field measuring ██ kilometers by 0.5 1.2 █.█ kilometers located between (██.████ ██.████) and (██.████ ██.████) (northern Norway, approximately half a kilometer inland from the beachhead). Analysis of the earth comprising most of SCP-XXXX indicates no anomalous properties, and that it is consistent with earth from the surrounding area. Deep grooves measuring approximately 4h by 2w meters are cut into the ground running the length of SCP-XXXX, with a space of approximately 5 meters between them. Between the grooves and on the edges of SCP-XXXX, continuous, overlapping rows of concertina-style barbed wire stretch between opposite ends of SCP-XXXX. Should a section of this wire be cut, new material will appear to grow from any free ends at a constant rate of ██ meters/second until it reaches the current parameter of SCP-XXXX. Should a section of wire be entirely removed from SCP-XXXX, the sample will quickly lose its metallic properties, resembling a branch of Betula pendula (Silver Birch) of equivalent mass within half an hour.
Should a human subject who has pledged allegiance to any country that is not Germany, Japan, or Italy (Alpha type) enter within ten meters of SCP-XXXX, they will report a sense of foreboding and dread, followed by an acute desire to leave the area. Subjects who have pledged allegiance to Germany, Japan, or Italy (Beta type) will be unaffected. If any human subject dies within ten meters of SCP-XXXX, SCP-XXXX will undergo an expansion event lasting an average of ten seconds. During an expansion event SCP-XXXX will extend its parameter by approximately 7 meters away from the beach, adding a new trench and row of thick barbed wire. The corpse of an alpha-type will rapidly decompose over the same timeframe, resulting in a fragile skeleton should the corpse have been outside the new area of expansion, while corpses within the newly effected area are no longer visable. The corpse of a beta-type will be quickly absorbed into the ground, and subsequent digging shows no trace of any remains. Multiple deaths within the same timeframe will result in correspondingly larger and longer expansion events, up to a recorded expansion of ████ meters over ████ seconds after ███ deaths. At this time, there is currently no known limit to how far SCP-XXXX can expand. Should a human subject pledging allegiance to Germany, Japan, or Italy enter within ten meters of SCP-XXXX, they will feel no anomalous effects, and their death will not trigger an expansion event.
Addendum:
[[Should there be an experiment log?]]
The whole concept looks decent to me. If you were to add experiment logs, I’d have the Foundation test different animal species on the barbed wire. Maybe different breeds of animals, or animals born in one of the mentioned countries but grown up in another? I’m not sure if the Foundation would do that, but it might be interesting to play around with. Also, can the local wildlife (like birds) trigger an expansion event? If so, I’d consider reclassifying this as a Euclid or possibly Keter class object. Take everything I say with a grain of salt though. I’m no veteran on this site. Hope some of this helps!

i think it is a good idea but i would like to know what happens to the corpses that could be a good idea to experimente with. Also the file should tell the foundation not to go in. And i think that a experimentation log will be an excellent idea by getting D-class to go in. An idea is that perhaps the Zone has hallucinogenic properties. the foundation should also have a Area or Outpost ██ working as a buffer for the scp and what will happen to citizens who encounter SCP-XXXX
dont listen to everything i say just a few ideas and always be creative
