Tale | Last Of Nothing | Greenlit by Floppy Pheonix and Ihp

SCP-106 is quietly standing in his dimly container. Suddenly, the bright lights, the ever present hum of the magnets that situate the container and the flowing water between the redundant layers has been shut off.

The loud thud the boxes make against the ground jolt the old man awake. He smiles through the missing teeth and sap like corrosion and phases through the ground towards the outside of his nesting dolls of entrapment. 106 phases his hands through the titanium door to the rest of the site and pries it in half, the metal furling as he pushes them apart. He finds that the entire site is void of light, humans or noise. The once busy hallways with doctors discussing research, security teams moving anomalies and roaming janitors are now gone. Containment rooms are vacant with their doors swung open.

The smile fades from 106's face before glowing red lights throughout the ceilings flash quickly. This is followed by a familiar female voice comes on the intercom to repeat this message every 16 seconds:

🔴 AUTOMATED SECURE CONTAINMENT NOTIFICATION CODE 317 🔴

Redundant back-up power failure. Containment breaches imminent. Please evacuate site. Nuclear fail-safe protocol activated.

A deafening blaring sound fills these hallways. The Old Man hunches over and snarls "REEEeDDdDd" while continuing through the twisting corridors. Sometimes he perks his head as if he's sensed something moving. Nothing was found. He takes his time to find the front desk of the site which has a computer monitor displaying a picture of the Sun.

A different female voice suddenly plays through an audio file.

"Ahem. This is Doctor—

🔴 AUTOMATED SECURE CONTAINMENT NOTIFICATION CODE 317 🔴

Redundant back-up power failure. Containment breaches imminent. Please evacuate site. Nuclear fail safe protocol activated.

The Old Man screams "RED!!" and palms the screen, the corrosion splashing across the frame. He hears a wet thud from the main entrance, whose windows have been coated black. 106 passes through the door into a large gelatinous red mass.

SCP-106 jolts and walks through the rest of the door and pulls away from the mass. His hands squeeze the material into small black flakes which impulses the mass to move away. He tries to survey his surroundings in the blinding daylight, only seeing the piles of smiling faces and tendrils of limbs made of red slime and white membranes approaching him.

The Old Man's body starts to transmutate into the corrosive liquid he creates, forcing him to fall onto his knees. The sunlight becomes brighter while the masses surrounds him. Laughing manically, he grabs one of the smaller ones and falls through the ground. He enters his pocket dimesnion, a slightly borwn tinted relam of abyssal dread where reality turns into bubbling postules.

His body regains it's shape showly, the hand holding the red slime entity being the last to reform. The ball of goop looks at the old man with it's permanently happy, cartoon-like face and gurgles before it gets crushed in one clench. 106 slurps the pulverized combination of his corrosion and the goop, immediately spitting it out.

106 phases back into the sunlight, recoiling and stepping on the smaller mucous-like blobs while shambling back into the Foundation site. The larger red anomalies force smaller parts of themselves through the hole the Old Man made in the door to follow him. The alarms continue to blare followed by the automated message:

🔴 AUTOMATED SECURE CONTAINMENT NOTIFICATION CODE 914 🔴

Nuclear detonation in 5…

The slime amalgamates shamble towards the old man as his left leg realigns. He gets back up and swats them away, blackening and shattering the piece immediately.

…4…

"Join us, Robert"

…3…

The dim shine behind 106's eyes dims. The sounds and red lights seem to disappear as the slime shapes instance into that of a person.

…2…

The Old Man nullifies his corrosion as he touches her hand.

"ANnNnnNNNAAaA—"

Special Containment Procedures: Any reports of SCP-4629 are to be dealt with a proper cover story and standard amnestic procedures met to avoid a break of normalcy. Any photos and videos of SCP-4629 (digital or physical) must be confiscated and archived. SCP-4629-1 should be kept in in a standard Thaumiel-class containment room with thaumaturgic circuitry properly wired into a Foundation-Issue PC and printer. All messages and location coordinates received by SCP-4629-1 must be saved digitally and physically with proper formatting. Any recovered pieces of SCP-4629 shards should be incorporated into SCP-4629-1.

The detection and subsequent containment of any SCP-4629-M instances should be prioritized to prevent groups of interest from acquiring them as per Protocol-4629-2056.

Description: SCP-4629 is a featureless blue orb that floats 10 meters above the ground. The molecular structure of SCP-4629 resembles that of Damascus steel but composed of aluminum oxide. SCP-4629 receives and transmits thaumaturgical electronic messages presumably from other instances of SCP-4629. These messages demonstrate that SCP-4629 is capable of adaptive and sentient albeit single-tracked.

Every ten (10) minutes, subject will teleport to a random geographical coordinate on Earth including submerged or underground locations.

If SCP-4629 is broken, a new instance of SCP-4629 manifests in five (5) minutes post-destruction. The broken pieces of SCP-4629 (hereby designated as SCP-4629-1) can be integrated by other types of thaumaturgic circuitry and routed into a computer to receive the messages. SCP-4629-1 is incapable to send messages and can detect the location of SCP-4629.

It was hypothesized that alternate universe instances of SCP-4629 sends information about an anomalous object it is phasing itself into and sends the information to SCP-4629, where it will combine the physiology of the object to accept the nature of the anomaly and vice versa. This theory was proven when SCP-4629 circuitry was successfully used to read messages.

SCP-4629-M is the group designation of anomalies created by SCP-4629. SCP-4629-M anomalous properties (if any) and physiology wildly vary. Anomalous traits of 80% of SCP-4629-M are likely based on known SCP Objects from other realities.

SCP-4629 teleporting within a twenty (20) meter range of an anomalous object triggers SCP-4629 to move towards the anomaly and phases itself into the it. This state lasts for approximately seventeen (17) seconds and ends with SCP-4629 entering its alternate logistic.

SCP-4629 teleporting when no anomaly is in a twenty (20) minute range will move towards a nearby object3, phase into it, and transmutes its traits with another non anomalous object.

According to SCP-4629’s coding, if the object it selects registers as organic, it will not combine its traits with that of inorganic composition and vice versa.

DISCOVERY

SCP-4629 was first discovered on 4/30/2000 following reports of the composition of a clock tower in Budapest, Hungary being replaced by a superficially similar structure made of traditional white cloth akin to a wedding dress. Following the containment and replacement of the clocktower, MTF-Eta-2 “Keter Killers” was tasked to handle similar manifestation events until SCP-4629 was found and then destroyed. This was followed by SCP-4629 reappearing and teleporting again. SCP-4629 was collected for study whereafter the use of SCP-4629-1 to locate SCP-4629 and receive its messages was discovered.
