Notexactlyhuman - The Best Defense (WIP)
Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be housed in a Standard Containment Cell in the Euclid Wing of Site-20. Two armed guards are to be stationed outside the entrance to this cell at all times, in order to prevent unauthorized entry. Outside of testing, all entry into SCP-XXXX's containment cell must be approved by an onsite researcher of Level 3 clearance or higher.
Following Incident XXXX-E, SCP-XXXX is to be contained in Containment Outpost XXXX. Containment Outpost XXXX is to be constructed in accordance with the following specifications:
- The capability to withstand the direct impact of a 1.3 megaton nuclear device
- The capability to block all currently extant forms of radiation imaging
- A complete lack of onsite self-destruction mechanisms, nuclear or otherwise, which could potentially harm SCP-XXXX
The construction of Containment Outpost XXXX is to take place in a location which is a sufficient distance from any known Foundation sites so as not to be damaged by their onsite nuclear devices in the event of detonation. Secondary criteria for this location include geological stability, low probability of civilian contact and sufficient distance from known GoI operational areas. For full location criteria, as well as a list of potential locations, consult Document XXXX-Eta.
Within Containment Outpost XXXX, SCP-XXXX is to be housed within a reinforced Standard Containment Cell, on the Outpost's lowest level. This cell is to be monitored via delayed CCTV feed, which is to be screened for memetic hazards prior to viewing.
Containment Outpost XXXX is to be staffed by at least eight guards and two researchers with Level 2/XXXX clearance or higher. Access to the Containment Outpost is restricted to personnel with 2/XXXX clearance or higher.
Description: SCP-XXXX is a cube, 2.5 metres in diameter. Its surface is composed of a matte black solid, and is featureless, save for a small glyph present on one of its faces. The meaning of this glyph has yet to be deciphered, though it bears several similarities to Sumerian cunieform. Due to the circumstances surrounding its recovery, SCP-XXXX is thought to be a container or safe of some kind, and as such, is assumed to be hollow. However, due to its anomalous properties, its internal structure, material composition and potential contents cannot be discerned.
SCP-XXXX's anomalous properties activate whenever an attempt is made to damage or penetrate its exterior. No method of damage or penetration has thus far failed to activate these anomalous properties. Attempted methods have included:
- Physical force
- Heating
- Radiological penetration (e.g. X-ray imaging)
- Reality manipulation
- Thaumic manipulation
- [DATA EXPUNGED]
SCP-XXXX is capable of preventing such attempts via a wide variety of methods, usually choosing to damage or disable either the tool being used or the personnel operating it. No limit to SCP-XXXX's capabilites has been found as of yet, and has consistently prevented all potential sources of damage or penetration, both intentional and accidental. Based on testing results, as well as Incident XXXX-Delta, SCP-XXXX is thought to possess precognitive abilities, which it have allowed it to neutralize several threats preemptively.
The following is an abridged testing log of SCP-XXXX. For access to the full log, please request Document XXXX-Alpha.
All tests are performed in a reinforced testing chamber at Site-20, unless stated otherwise. Testing overseen by Dr. Prinz.
Subject: D-6092
Method: Subject is issued a handheld X-ray imaging device, and instructed to attempt viewing of SCP-XXXX's interior.
Response: Upon device activation, SCP-XXXX emits an omnidirectional pulse of X-rays, disabling the device. Within the next █ minutes, Subject displays symptoms consistent with acute radiation poisoning, and expires shortly after. Autopsy reveals the absorbed dose to have been approximately 5██ Rad.
Notes: Testing chamber is to be lined with additional lead shielding for future testing. -Dr Prinz
Test 3
Subject: D-3283
Method: Subject is issued an electric drill, and instructed to bore a hole into SCP-XXXX.
Response: SCP-XXXX emits an electric shock at point of contact, severely damaging the drill's internal mechanism and rendering it unusable. Subject sustains minor burns.
Test 4
Subject: D-8092
Method: Subject is issued a sledgehammer, along with electrically insulated gloves, and instructed to strike SCP-XXXX with as much force as possible.
Response: Immediately prior to impact, SCP-XXXX emits a directed shockwave, snapping the shaft of the sledgehammer in half and fracturing Subject's left arm. Both Subject and sledgehammer are launched away from SCP-XXXX, and impact the wall of the testing chamber, causing further fractures in Subject's ribs and collarbone.
Test 5
Subject: D-2210
Method: Subject is issued an M72 LAW anti-tank weapon, and instructed to fire at SCP-XXXX from a safe distance. Test is conducted in an outdoors firing range, and Subject is fitted with a remotely activated kill-collar to prevent noncompliance.
Response: As Subject readies his weapon, his kill-collar activates through apparent malfunction, causing immediate death. Later analysis shows that SCP-XXXX emitted a radio signal at the same frequency as the kill-collar detonator, causing activation. The method by which SCP-XXXX deduced this frequency is unknown.
Notes: Further testing with radio-controlled equipment is hereby discontinued, until we can figure out how it did that. - Dr Prinz.
Test 7
Subject: Research Assistant ██████
Method: Subject is instructed to operate a remotely controlled (via reinforced cable) drill in order to drill a bore in SCP-XXXX. Drillbit is separated from drilling mechanism by heavy-duty electrical insulation layer.
Response: SCP-XXXX increases its surface temperature at point of contact to 1███ degrees Celsius, melting the drillbit.
Test 8
Subject: Research Assistant ██████
Method: Identical to Test 7, steel drillbit substituted for diamond drillbit.
Response: SCP-XXXX increases its surface temperature at point of contact to 3███ degrees Celsius, causing the drillbit to sublime. Drill mechanism suffers heat damage.
Notes: Further testing with drills is discontinued - we're wasting valuable materials, and we don't even know if this thing has a temperature limit. -Dr. Prinz
Test 10
Subject: D-3102
Method: Subject is issued a high-powered laser, along with reflective body-armor, and instructed to damage SCP-XXXX.
Response: SCP-XXXX modifies its surface properties in an as-of-yet poorly understood manner. The resultant surface is highly reflective, and allows SCP-XXXX to focus the laser beam through unknown means, increasing its energy output by approximately █.█ times, and directing it back at Subject. Laser is aimed at small unprotected area near Subject's neck, causing it to sever and subsequently cauterize Subject's cartoid artery. SCP-XXXX's surface returns to original properties shortly after.
Test 11
Subject: D-1167
Method: Subject is issued SCP-████, and instructed to [REDACTED]. Testing chamber is fitted with several Scranton Reality Anchors.
Response: [DATA EXPUNGED]
Notes: All further testing requires Site Director approval, and all cross-testing is prohibited until further notice. Should Dr Prinz recover from his coma, he is to be disciplined for his actions, and transferred away from Site-20. - Site Director A██████
SCP-XXXX was recovered on ██/██/200█ during a raid on a suspected Marshall, Carter & Dark storage facility. Several documents were also found on-site, pertaining to MC&D efforts to breach the object's exterior, along with the following note:
Q,
I understand your hesitation at investing such significant resources into a single venture, but the end result warrants it. The box is designed to be impenetrable, yet its designers were human. Fallible. I am certain that a way to open it exists - if not by finding the key, then by tricking its defenses.
And I hardly need to explain what it is that we'll find inside - I'm sure that your recent [REDACTED] has impressed on you the importance of such items. You hold the key to our unimpeded operations in your hands - you must simply liberate it from its confinement.
Sincerely,
Carter
"Q" has since been designated PoI-2049. Efforts to locate the "key" to SCP-XXXX are ongoing.
On ██/██/20██, Site-20 was attacked by a Chaos Insurgency strike team with the intent of capturing several anomalous objects contained therein. After eliminating most Site security, the strike team proceeded to enter the Site's Euclid wing, with the intent of
