Special Containment Procedures: Foundation wormhole monitoring operations are to be updated on a yearly basis with the appropriate WormHole Induced Tachyon Emission (WHITE) signatures in order to detect the ocurrence of SCP-5678 wormholes. Following the detection of an SCP-5678 wormhole MTF Mu-8 "Delightful Turks" is to survey the area immediately surrounding the instance, collect census data on young children in the area, and begin to formulate a plausible method of death or disappearance for any potential SCP-5678-B instances. Members of MTF Mu-8 are then to wait at the site of the instance until such a time as an SCP-5678-B instance emerges, or three days, three hours, three minutes and four seconds have passed since the detection of the SCP-5678 instance.

SCP-5678-B instances are to be collected from their point of emergence as quickly as possible without the notice of civilians, and brought to Site-06-3 for incarceration. SCP-5678-B instances are to be held in a standard minimal-risk humanoid containment cell, and allowed the appropriate luxuries and permissions for low-risk humanoid SCP objects. Items found in the possession of SCP-5678-B instances are to be assumed to be anomalous, and should be confiscated for testing immediately.

SCP-5678-B instances are to be psychologically assessed by on-site doctors at the earliest possible opportunity, with special attention being paid to trauma related mental disorders. On reaching the local age of majority SCP-5678 instances may be inducted into Foundation as employees, subject to normal hiring standards.

In accordance with their age and academic status, SCP-5678-B subjected only to "short stay" events may need tutoring in order to develop skills useful to the SCP Foundation.

Description: SCP-5678 refers to a series of wormholes capable of manifesting at any location on earth. These wormholes bridge between baseline reality and a series of eight thirteen twenty four interconnected sub-dimensions collectively termed SCP-5678-A. The manifestation of SCP-5678 is controlled by a nine sixteen nineteen creatures native to SCP-5678-A, who are capable of both creating and directing the appearance of SCP-5678 through extreme effort.

SCP-5678-A cannot be explored by Foundation agents due to the targeted nature of their manifestations, but the sub-dimensions have been described as "Earth-like", barring the presence of additional organisms otherwise only present in fictional media and myth1. Although some SCP-5678-A sub-dimensions are hazardous to human existence2 most instances can be considered habitable by humans on a level equal or superior to baseline reality. Resources are abundant and land is extremely fertile, allowing a high standard of living despite the relatively low technological level of SCP-5678-A which is estimated as on par with late medieval europe.

Also of note is the extreme temporal distortion experienced between baseline reality and all SCP-5678-A sub-dimensions, with time within these instances progressing at an extremely accelerated rate compared to baseline reality. Experimentation and testimony have not established a consistent level of temporal dilation, but a ratio of approximately one thousand to one has been estimated by natives of SCP-5678-A.

Due to the saturation of anomalous and thaumaturgical forces within all SCP-5678-A sub-dimensions the collective sub-realities are subjected approximately once per baseline year to an existential threat, with more localised threats occurring approximately once per baseline month. Several recurring threats have been recorded in this way, including the return of various entities thought previously to have been terminated.

During times of extreme crisis, high-profile figures within SCP-5678-A consider it standard operating procedure to manifest SCP-5678 wormholes in order to abduct humans from baseline reality. For unknown reasons inhabitants of SCP-5678-A prefer children for this purpose3. These abductees, collectively termed SCP-5678-B instances, are considered to be "chosen" or "destined" according to clairvoyants within SCP-5678-A, and often designated ahead of their selection by various authorities. The SCP-5678-B instances are then outfitted with anomalous weaponry and equipment in order to avert the current threat to SCP-5678-A's existence. Instances are persuaded not to attempt to return to baseline reality until such a time as the ongoing safety of the collective SCP-5678-A instances can be assured.

Due to the extreme time dilation it is possible for SCP-5678-A instances to develop significantly whilst within an SCP-5678-A instance. In order to prevent this from impacting the lives of SCP-5678-B instance inhabitants of SCP-5678-A alter the personal temporal state of the abductee in a procedure referred to as the "reversion of janus" before allowing them to return to baseline reality. This procedure, which reverts the physical state of the abductee to the state in which they entered the SCP-5678 wormhole, does not erase the memories of the SCP-5678-B instances. Furthermore the method of memory retention employed causes amnestics to be ineffective at erasing memories related to SCP-5678.

SCP-5678-B Analysis.

First discovered by the Foundation in 1938, eight hundred and forty eight manifestations of SCP-5678 have been detected, with an estimated additional one hundred manifestations avoiding detection. In the overwhelming majority (ninety seven percent) of these cases one child has been abducted, although an ability to abduct multiple children at once has been documented including the simultaneous abduction of seventy two children as they travelled in a school bus.

In approximately fifteen percent of SCP-5678 abductions the SCP-5678-B instance returns to baseline reality within three hours, three minutes and three seconds of their abduction. These are termed "short stay" events, taking place over approximately four months within SCP-5678-A. Sixty four percent of these instances suffer from mental disorders, including posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), major depressive disorder (MDD), and traumatic brain injury (TBI). Although these are harmful disorders they are treatable by sustained therapy from trained professionals, and the majority of "short stay" SCP-5678-B instances successfully recover from their experiences to the point where they can complete most nonviolent tasks.

Approximately four percent of SCP-5678-B instances do not return within the "short stay" time frame, but do instead return later, usually within one month of their abduction. These are termed "long stay" events, and take place over multiple decades of SCP-5678-A time. These individuals are severely affected by the "reversion of janus" effect, and display a form of extreme body dysphoria as they adjust to their preadolescent state, along with symptoms of dementia, mood disorders, anxiety, and severe cognitive impairment. In around one third of cases these symptoms are found not to be permanent, and a full recovery is made.

The remaining eighty one percent of SCP-5678-B instances do not return from SCP-5678-A. It is estimated ninety five percent of these instances are killed within SCP-5678-A.

Addendum 1

Following an investigation by the staff of Site-120 it was determined that SCP-5678-A instances could not be accessed from baseline reality using externally generated wormholes, making any kind of incursion by Foundation forces impossible. It was however also determined that a small-scale expression of energy could be performed and in turn detected within SCP-5678-A, allowing communication via sound to take place when coupled with an artificial pocket dimension possessing a time-dilating effect. The decision was made to attempt communication with ██████████-███, the "Hand of Law", an individual present all accounts of SCP-5678-A since the turn of the century.

Communication attempt log follows.

Dr James Sturbanks: Hello, this is the Doctor James Sturbanks, I represent the SCP Foundation of universe 8d57-fE2ξ-D. I am attempting to contact ██████████-███, the "Hand of Law". Is anyone recieving me? I repeat, this is the SCP Foundation of un-

██████████-███: I hear you, mortal. It is I, ██████████-███. I speak for the Law of ████-███. I am the Hand Which Tips the Scales, the Hand Which Wields the Quill, the Hand Which Swings the Gavel. For whom do you speak?

Dr James Sturbanks: I'm a sanctioned representative of the SCP Foundation.

██████████-███: I know of you not.

Dr James Sturbanks: We contain… [Doctor Sturbanks checks the recorded notes on SCP-5678] What you would know as wizards, witches, people of that nature. You've come to our attention.

██████████-███: I so often do. It is not easy to evade attention when you are fifty feet tall, and you voice is The Voice That Spoke the First Law!

Dr James Sturbanks: Yes, the uh… "Law of ████-███". We've been told of it. I'm afraid that's not what I'm here to speak with you about.

██████████-███: Is it not? That is a pleasant surprise, sometimes it seems that is all anyone wants to speak of.

Dr James Sturbanks: Yes, I'm afraid you've come to our attention for a completely different matter. You see, it seems you've been abducting our children.

██████████-███: I beg your pardon?

Dr James Sturbanks: Our children, the children of our world. You call it… let's see here, you call it "Drumlind."

██████████-███: Ah yes, Drümlind, a land so dull but which has given us so many fine heroes. You should be proud!

Dr James Sturbanks: I'm sorry, Mister ██████████-

██████████-███: Lord. I did not slay the Anarchotitan Drawisplex, the Titan Of The First Night to be called a "mister".

Dr James Sturbanks: Lord ██████████-███, you seem to have misunderstood me. People of your world, as well as the other worlds in the… ah, "Starlight Spokes"4 have been abducting my world's children for the last eighty years, most likely even longer. You yourself have been responsible for no fewer than eighteen such abductions by my records, and that is only counting the abductees who returned alive.

██████████-███: Ah yes, that is correct. Mighty heroes all, and tragic losses those who have fallen. As I said, you should be proud.

Dr James Sturbanks: I'm sorry, allow me to just make myself absolutely clear. You are taking our children.

██████████-███: That is correct.

Dr James Sturbanks: You are returning to us… let's be honest here, mentally damaged shells of people. People who you have forced to fight any number of monstrosities including, but not limited to, let me see… "Nashmor, the Fell Reaver of the Hinterwold…"

██████████-███: Ah, Nashmor. A most vile fiend.

Dr James Sturbanks: … "Anschorn, the Wolf Who Ate The Dawn" …

██████████-███: A wily foe indeed.

Dr James Sturbanks: … "The Witch of Insparra and her Diabolical Brood of Infernal Flame"…

██████████-███: I do not recall an "Insparra", but it does ring of truth.

Dr James Sturbanks: … oh, and "the Anarchotitan Drawisplex, the Titan Who Returned To Life and Defied the Hand of Law". There was quite a delay before we got someone back with that story, I gather you had quite a few failed "heroes".

██████████-███: That was, by my own admission, not an incident of which I am proud.

Dr James Sturbanks: You… You don't see anything wrong with this?

██████████-███: The deaths? Well they are truly tragic, I will admit, but there is little even one such as I can do. The Starlight Spokes need heroes, Doctor Sturbanks! They need to be saved! And your children have such a lust for adventure! They fight like demons, and they never back down! They can be a little unpredictable, I admit, and they may cry for their mothers at inopportune times, but-

Dr James Sturbanks: They're being given trauma disorders! Of course they break down, they're children. You are forcing children into life and death situations with wolves made out of… of "the opposite of starlight" and expecting them to hold together!

██████████-███: We need heroes, Doctor Sturbanks.

Dr James Sturbanks: Lord ██████████-███, this is a planet of more than seven billion people. There are more people here than in the… Hives of Uskaradan5! By a factor of one hundred! In the building I recently left there were no fewer than twenty armed, trained, and capable adult humans, many of which I'm sure would jump at the chance to save the Spokes and live as a celebrated hero for seventy years! And they're facility guards! They're not even MTF! I'm not asking you why you're taking our children, I'm asking you why you're taking our children.

██████████-███: … I mean… I do not make the laws per se.
